Dieter Garret was one of the great early hurdlers in West Virginia's State Meet history. He ranks in the top 3 in both the hurdle distaces and was the top member of the shuttle hurdle relay team that also ranked in the top 3. He was also an excellent long jump and despite never setting a state meet record, ranks 4th on the Early Era All Time High Point list.
