Bill Fields dominated the an event like few others have ever done in their era. He ruled the 1950's discus pad and his four throws rank as the top four of that decade. His top throw of 175'0 still ranks as the third best throw of all time regardless of era and makes him one of only two men (the other being Carl Hickey and his Long Jump) to have a mark in the All Time Top Ten list . He held the discus record for 29 years. Every one of his state meet marks(148'7 1/4, 146'9, 159'11 1/2, 175'0) are good enough to give today's thowers all they could handle. He was also a good shot putter.
*** NOTE THAT ALL MARKS HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO THEIR METRIC EQUIVALENT TIMES AND DISTANCES***
