Charleston captured all three scoring methods and captured two state titles during the decade. The were led by Curtis Wickline, Russell Thomas and Tommy Reeves. Wickline placed third individually in RunWV's analysis of the early era athletes taking event titles in the 100, 220 (twice) and long jump (twice) while setting a record in the 220 and taking high point title in 1948. Weightman Russell Thomas set records in the Discus and Shot Put in 1943 and ranked among the decades top athletes. Tommy Reeves won two high point titles and claimed 3 individual titles in the 120 Hurdles and Long Jump.
Huntington won more titles (three) than anyone else during the decade, but failed to capture any of the methods. Huntington was led by Jimmy Dial, Ward Wright and Collins. Dial ranked among the top ten athletes of the early era and twice won the high point title, 100 and 440 yard dashes. Ward Wright won high point and swept the sprints in 1945 and Collins ranked among the decades best athletes while winning the 120 yard hurdles and high jump.
Stonewall Jackson won the decades final two titles and took third for the decade. Derald Hillenbrand (Hurdles) and Whitey Scragg (Hurdles - Record in 220's) were both among the decades top high point scorers. Hoppy Shores won three different events and set the record in the 440. Carl Marion was the schools only high point individual (1949)
