THE BEST OF THE BEST: WV MIDDLE SCHOOL INVITATIONAL
Welcome to the 2nd Annual The Best Of The Best: WV Middle School Invitational! The meet will be held on Saturday, May 9th at Huntington High School, right off the Hal Greer exit of Interstate 64 in Huntington, WV. The facility is a 9-lane rubberized track, with rubberized areas for high jump, and long jump and regulation concrete areas for shot-put and discus.
When: Saturday, May 9th. Field events begin at 12:00pm, running events begin at 1:00pm. The meet will run on a rolling one session schedule.[MC1]

However, we are following how our neighbors in Ohio run their state meet to ensure a fun and competitive meet!
Where: Huntington High School Track
Cost: Entry fee of $20 per individual (amount of events does not change entry fee). Make Checks payable to Huntington Middle School
Awards: 1st place individual plaque, 2nd-8th place medals, 1st-2nd place team trophies. Plaques for boy and girl high point winners
The meet will host 13 running events and 5 field events
An athlete may participate in a maximum of 4 total events (including relays).
All Running events will use a Timed Final (3 seeded heats).
Athletes with the Top 24 marks pulled from their participation in a MEET LISTED ON ATHLETIC.NET (including ties from the Top Performance List) will qualify for the BoB.
o Should ties within the qualifying marks result in too many qualifiers to complete the competition in the allotted time, the field of qualifiers may be reduced.
o PLEASE NOTE: No more than THREE (3) individual athletes & ONE (1) relay team (per race) from the same school shall qualify. If a single school qualifies more than the number outlined, only the top 3 individual participants & single relay team (per race) will advance, and the next qualifying athlete/relay from a different school would be invited to enter the BoB.
If a Top 24 qualifier cannot attend, the next athlete/relay on the performance list will be invited until at least 24 qualifiers are confirmed.
IF YOU HAVE AN ATHLETE THAT IS NOT IN THE TOP TWENTY-FOUR BUT WANTS TO COMPETE, PLEASE REGISTER THEM!!! THE TOP TWENTY-FOUR REGISTERED TIMES/MARKS IN EACH EVENT WILL BE ACCEPTED
Qualifying Meet dates: March 20 - May 5
Results from meets posted on athletic.net held from Thursday, March 20 Tuesday, May 5th, will be used to determine the field of qualifiers for each event at the BoB.
The final date to participate in a qualifying meet is Tuesday, May 5th.
Any meet ran after the May 5th deadline regardless of being an invitational or county championship, will not count towards qualifying times.
For a qualifying time to be counted, electronic timing must be used.
Qualifier acceptance period: Saturday, April 4th Wednesday, May 6th
o Registration for the meet will open at 9:45am Saturday, April 4th and close at 9:00pm, Wednesday May 6th
o The meet will ONLY accept entries that tie directly to a performance based on the list of approved qualifying meets.
o Registration will close at 6:00pm on May 6th and no further entries will be accepted after this time.
o Only the TOP 24 athletes from each event (plus unbreakable ties) that are registered before the deadline will be accepted.
o Please be sure to register any interested athletes BEFORE the deadline to guarantee their spot should they be a qualifier. If your qualifying athlete is not registered by the deadline, the invitation will extend to the next athlete on the list.
o The accepted entry list will be made public the night of May 6th.
o The meet will be seeded on May 7th and heat sheets will be made public the same day.
Final list of the BoB qualifiers: Thursday, May 7th at noon
Heat Sheets: Posted on athletic.net on Thursday May 7th by 5:00
BoB Date: Saturday May 9th
