Class AAA Boys Individual Event Predictions

100 M	1. Gavin Lewis Brooke
	2. Kyrae Ramos Hedgesville
	3. Logan Wooddell	Parkersburg
	4. James McDougale	Hurricane
	5. Stephen DeMoss	Shady Spring
	6. Trevon Smith	Jefferson
This should be fun. The top 10 guys have best times within 0.19 of each other. The
top 6 have best times within 0.09 of each other. Lewis has the best top time and is
the defending champion. Ramos joins Lewis as the only ones to have multiple runs under
11.10. The next three are the only other ones to have multiple runs under 11.20, with
each having three of them. 12 in the field have been 11.25 or better.

200 M	1. James McDougale	Hurricane
	2. Stephen DeMoss	Shady Spring
	3. Kyrae Ramos Hedgesville
	4. Logan Wooddell	Parkersburg
	5. Ryan Daly Winfield
	6. Daniel Jarrell	Cabell Midland
McDougale has the top time in the field and has a pair of runs faster than anyone else's
best. DeMoss has had two really strong runs late in the season. Ramos is the only one
in the field with 3 runs under 22.50, and he has four of them. Wooddell has a better
top time than Ramos and a better overal series than DeMoss. Daly is one of just four
in the field with 4 runs under 23 seconds. Jarrell has a better top time than Daly and
just beat him at the Regional. 12 in the field have been under 23 seconds. Only 7 have
done it more than once.

400 M	1. Daniel Jarrell	Cabell Midland
	2. Stephen DeMoss	Shady Spring
	3. Andrew Nesselroade	Buck-Upshur
	4. Vitaly Cuff Morgantown
	5. Anthony Henry	Spring Mills
	6. Jodice Shanklin	Greenbrier East
The top two appear to be ahead of the field. They are the only two to have been under
51 seconds, and they've both been under 50. Jarrell has the top time and has 5 runs
better than DeMoss' 2nd best. DeMoss typically runs the 400 very well at the State
Meet though. I had him taking the win initially, and changed it as I wrote this. Things
get really messy after these first 3. The next 11 guys have top times within 0.63 of
each other. This is really difficult. I've worked through this several times already.
Nesselroade has a pair of runs under 51.6. Cuff has taken a big step forward late in
the season with strong runs at the OVAC and Regional meets. Henry is one of just four
with four runs under 52. Shanklin had the 3rd best Regional time. 13 in the field
have been under 52 seconds. 11 have been under 51.7 seconds.

800 M	1. Will Sheils Cabell Midland
	2. Geandre Jones	University
	3. Jagger Harvey	Woodrow Wilson
	4. Aaron Withrow	Winfield
	5. Daniel Beavers	Hedgesville
	6. Nick Salmons	Cabell Midland
This is another tough one. I initially went with Jones, who has historically run very
well at the State Meet. I ended up going with Sheils based mainly on his win over Jones
at the Gazette Relays. He also has four runs under 1:59 while no one else has more than
2. He also is the only one to have been under 1:58. Those two are the only ones to
have been under 1:58. Withrow and Harvey are the only other ones to have been under
2:00. I gave Harvey the nod as he'll be fresher with Withrow having dueled in the 1600
earlier. Beavers only has the 9th best time in the field, but he was 5th last year, going
under 1:59 in the process. Salmons has the next best top time.

1600 M	1. Will Sheils Cabell Midland
	2. Alex Minor University
	3. Seth Edwards	University
	4. Daniel Beavers	Hedgesville
	5. Jeremiah Parlock	Cabell Midland
	6. Aaron Withrow	Winfield
I have really struggled with this one. I've reconfigured it four times so far. Sheils
gets the favorite spot as the only one to have been faster than 4:24. His top time is
three seconds ahead of anyone else's best. Minor is the only one in the field to have
three runs under 4:30 and was 2nd last year. Edwards is one of just two with a pair of
runs under 4:28. Beavers only falls at number 6 on the list, but he's done a lot of his
best times as solo runs. I think he's very dangerous. Parlock is a bit of a wildcard.
He has the 2nd best top time in the group and a pair of runs under 4:30, but both his
4:30 runs came very early in the season. But he also went 4:21 at the State Meet last
year. But his two most recent runs were 4:35's. Withrow has a pair of runs under 4:30.
The top 8 in the field have been 4:28 or better. There is a 4 second gap back to #9.
Anyone outside the top 9 scoring a placing spot will be quite an upset. As mentioned,
Sheils' top time is over 3 seconds ahead of 2nd. Less than 2.5 seconds separates 2nd
from 7th. This will be one of the highlight races of the weekend.

3200 M	1. Seth Edwards	University
	2. Alex Minor University
	3. Philip White	University
	4. Aaron Withrow	Winfield
	5. Daniel Beavers	Hedgesville
	6. Coy Smith Cabell Midland
This one is a bit difficult as well. Edwards gets the nod as I think he's to most likely
to be able to go under 9:20 if the need arises. Minor beat him by over 2 seconds at the
Gazette Relays. White was right on Edwards' heels at the Gazette Relays. Those three
have run 9:33 or better. Withrow ran 9:36 at the Gazette Relays and is the only one in
the field with 3 runs under 9:50. That group is 9 seconds ahead of anyone else based on
their top times. Beavers only has the 8th best top time, but I think 9:30 is a possibility.
Smith gets the nod for the final spot, butI could have gone with any of 8 guys for that
spot and felt good about it. While there is a 9 second gap between the 4th and 5th best
top times, the gap between #5 and #13 is just under 6 seconds. This will be another
highlight race.

110 HH	1. Richard Cummings	Wheeling Park
	2. Erik Musgrave	Parkersburg
	3. Dezmon Bradshaw	Huntington
	4. Cortez Jenkins	Jefferson
	5. Tim Goldbaugh	Wheeling Park
	6. Logan Haga Woodrow Wilson
Cumming has the top time in the field by almost half a second. He's the only one with
more than one run under 15 seconds, and he has 4 of them. Oh...and he's also the
defending champion. Musgrave has the only other run under 15 seconds, and is 0.4
second ahead of the rest of the field. Bradshaw only has the 5th best top time, but
he has three runs under 15.50 seconds, while no one else in the remaining field has
more than one. Jenkins has the 3rd best top time. Goldbaugh has the 4th best top
time. Haga has the next best top time and the next best series.

300 IH	1. Erik Musgrave	Parkersburg
	2. Richard Cummings	Wheeling Park
	3. Jacob Kennedy	Brooke
	4. Ridge Dalrymple	Ripley
	5. Dezmon Bradshaw	Huntington
	6. Jimmy Kemp Parkersburg South
Musgrave has the top time in the field by over 0.6 seconds and is the only one with
more than one run under 40 seconds, and he has three of them. His 3rd best time is
over half a second better than anyone else's best. Cummings has the next best top
time and was the runner-up last year. Kennedy is the only other one to have gone under
40 seconds. Dalrymple has the next best top time. Bradshaw has the next best top
time, and I only show two runs for him in the event with both under 41.6. Kemp
doesn't have the next best time, but has three runs under 41.4.

4x100 M	1. Hedgesville
	2. Jefferson
	3. Wheeling Park
	4. Woodrow Wilson
	5. Cabell Midland
	6. Winfield
Hedgesville has gone under 44 seconds on at least 5 occasions. No one else has done
it more than twice. Jefferson has a pair of runs under 44 seconds. Wheeling Park
actually has the best top time in the field with their stellar run at the OVAC meet.
Woodrow Wilson also has a pair of runs under 44 seconds but will be stuck out in lane
8. Cabell Midland is the only other team to have gone under 44 seconds. Winfield
has the next best time and the next best series.

4x200 M	1. Hedgesville
	2. Hurricane
	3. Spring Mills
	4. Brooke
	5. Musselman
	6. Cabell Midland
Hedgesville is the only team to have cracked that magic 1:30 barrier, and they have
four runs under 1:31. Hurricane has been really close to that barrier, as has Spring
Mills. Both have a pair of runs under 1:31. Brooke can move Secrist back onto this
unit, which is the group they ran at the OVAC meet when they were in the low 1:31's.
Musselman is the only other team to have been under 1:32. Cabell Midland can add
Daniel Jarrell to their lineup, and I think that will be enough to push them into a
placing spot. They'll have to do it from the first heat, though. Jefferson and
Woodrow Wilson will be dangerous as well.

4x400 M	1. Cabell Midland
	2. Spring Mills
	3. Hurricane
	4. Buckhannon-Upshur
	5. Jefferson
	6. Winfield
I think Cabell Midland has the greatest potential in the field. They'll have the
ability to add Jeremiah Parlock to their group, and that could push them down to close
to 3:25. Spring Mills has the top time in the field, and is one of just two teams
with a pair of runs under 3:30. Hurricane gets the nod over Buckhannon-Upshur because
I think there's more upward potential with their unit. I actually show Jefferson with
the ability to be faster than either, but the other two have been well faster thus
far. Winfield is the only other team I have going under 3:30. I have three other
teams at 3:31 from the first heat, so this should be nice and close.

4x800 M	1. University
	2. Cabell Midland
	3. Jefferson
	4. Morgantown
	5. Hurricane
	6. Winfield
I have University and Cabell Midland both going under 8:00. University has already
been 7:57 in soundly beating Midland at the Gazette Relays. I think it will be
closer this time, but I still think University takes it. Jefferson has been 8:10 or
better on a couple occasions. I have Morgantown being able to go just as fast, but
I gave the nod to Jefferson because they've been faster so far. I think Hurricane
can go 8:10. I have Winfield at 8:12. Woodrow Wilson and Parkersburg will look to
be factors as well as I have them both under 8:15.

Shuttle	1. Wheeling Park
	2. Brooke
	3. Parkersburg South
	4. Ripley
	5. Woodrow Wilson
	6. Parkersburg
Wheeling Park has the best series, but not the best time. The same unit won the State
Championship last year. Brooke has the best time in the field and is the only team to
have gone under 58 seconds, but that time is almost 1.8 seconds better than their 2nd
best time. Parkersburg South has a pair of runs under 59 seconds. Ripley has been
under 59 seconds. Woodrow Wilson and Parkersburg have the next best times. 7 in the
field have been under 60 seconds.

H Jump	1. Luke Nichols	Nitro
	2. Dominic Collins	Parkersburg South
	3. Marcus Lofton	Buckhannon-Upshur
	4. Juwan Green Martinsburg
	5. Jaylen Snyder	St. Albans
	6. Dane Flanagan	Musselman
Nichols has the only jumps higher than 6'4, and soared 6'9 at the Regional Meet. Collins
is the only other jumper with three clearings of 6'2. Lofton has one of just two 6'4
jumps in the field, and got 6'2 at the Regional. Green has a pair of 6'2 jumps, including
one at the Regional and was 3rd last year. Snyder has a 6'2 jump and three 6'0 jumps.
Flanagan has a pair of 6'2 jumps and a pair of 6'0 jumps. 7 jumpers in the field have
cleared 6'2. 14 have cleared 6'0.

P Vault	1. Tristan Slater	Capital
	2. Zane Griffith	Ripley
	3. Jacob Bussey	Parkersburg
	4. Chais Shockley	Morgantown
	5. Michael Null	Winfield
	6. Jonathan Garver	Hedgesville
Slater is obviously the class of the field and the owner of a 17'0 vault (not to mention
an All-Time Best mark set at an indoor meet over the winter). He's also the three time
defending champion. All eyes will be watching this. Griffith has the only other 14'0
vaults in the field, and he's done it three times. Bussey has a pair of 13'6 vaults
and three 13'0 vaults. Shockley also has a pair of 13'6 vaults and a 13'0 vault. Null
has one 13'6 vault and one 13'0 vault. Garver has three vaults of at least 12'6. 10
in the field have vaulted at least 12'0.

L Jump	1. Kelshawn Grant	Woodrow Wilson
	2. Tristan Slater	Capital
	3. Juwan Green Martinsburg
	4. Stephen DeMoss	Shady Spring
	5. Marcus Lofton	Buckhannon-Upshur
	6. Jaylen Snyder	St. Albans
Grant has the top jump in the field and a pair of 21'0 jumps. Slater is the only other
one with a pair of 21'0 jumps. I only show 4 jumps for him this season, and each is at
least 20'5. Green has a pair of jumps of at least 20'6 and was 3rd last year. DeMoss
has three jumps of at least 20'7 and is the only one in the field with five 20'0 jumps.
Lofton is one of just four with a 21'0 jump. Snyder is one of just four with three 20'0
jumps. 10 in the field have jumped at least 20'0. The 6 listed above are the only ones
to have done it more than once.

Shot	1. Phillip Keller	Jefferson
	2. Colton Donathan	Hurricane
	3. Cody Mitchell	Point Pleasant
	4. Hunter Hicks	Cabell Midland
	5. Hunter Ashley	Huntington
	6. Tannor Hill Point Pleasant
Keller is the only one in the field with a pair of 51'0 throws and the only one with
three 50'0 throws. Donathan has a top throw of 53'4, which is nearly a foot and a
half better than Keller's best, but Keller shows better marks on throws 2 to 5. I opted
to go with the consistency, but it's certainly very possible for Donathan to win this
by a large margin. Mitchell is the only other one to have topped 50'0, and he's topped
51'0, which he did at the Regional. He was also the runner-up last year, so he could
win this as well. Hicks is the only other one in the field with more than one 49'0
throw, and he has three of them. He's one of just two in the field with five 48'0
throws. In fact, his 5th best throw is the top in the field. Ashley has three throws
over 48'0. Hill threw 49'8 at the Regional, which is the 4th best top throw in the
field, but his 2nd best throw is just 46'4. He didn't compete until May 4th, though
and has gotten progressively better, so he may be a darkhorse to win the event.

Discus	1. Cody Mitchell	Point Pleasant
	2. Hunter Ashley	Huntington
	3. Tim Ferguson	Parkersburg South
	4. Colton Donathan	Hurricane
	5. Hunter Hicks	Cabell Midland
	6. Hunter Nolan	Parkersburg South
Mitchell has erupted late in the season. Four of his last five meets have resulted in
throws of at least 169'0, including a 180'0 throw and two others over 175'0. He's the
clear favorite. Ashley has the 2nd best top throw in the field and has five throws of
at least 156'0. He's also the defending champion. Ferguson is the only other one to
have a 160'0 throw, which he's done twice. He's also the only other one with five throws
of over 150'0, and he has five that are over 154'0. Donathan has three throws of at
least 157'0. Hicks has a pair of throws over 150'0 and was the runner-up last year.
Nolan also has a pair of throws over 150'0. 8 in the field have thrown at least 150'0.
9 have thrown at least 148'0. Then it drops to 139'0.
