5. Daniel Mullenax Pendleton
6. Richard Daddario Madonna
Canary is the only one in the field to have run under 11 seconds. He has at least five
runs better than anyone else's best. Johnson has the next best time by 0.2 seconds and
has at least five runs better than anyone else's best. Jones has the next best time and
a full series under 11.50. Underwood has come on late with a pair of runs under 11.50
Mullenax has the next best front end series. Daddario has a better top time than Mullenax,
and it was run at this Regional. Four have been under 11.50. 7 have been under 11.60.
200 M 1. Freddy Canary South Harrison
2. Anthony Johnson St. Marys
3. Wesley Jones Wahama
4. Tyler Anderson Tyler Consolidated
5. Tavor Jeter Madonna
6. Dillon Underwood Doddridge
Canary again appears to be the class of the field. His 22.44 is over half a second faster
than anyone else's best. His 5th best time is better than anyone else's best. Johnson
has a pair of runs under 23 seconds. Jones has three runs under 23.20. Anderson has the
next best time and three runs of 23.40 or better. Jeter was within 0.01 of Anderson at
the Regional and has three runs of 23.60 or better. Undrewood has the next best time and
a pair of runs under23.70. 2 have been under 23 seconds. 5 have been under 23.20. 8 have
been 23.50 or better.
400 M 1. Brooks Parsons Magnolia
2. Zac Long St. Marys
3. JaQuan Jackson Wheeling Central
4. Wesley Jones Wahama
5. Daniel Mullenax Pendleton
6. Chase Harler Wheeling Central
This has turned out to be a really strong event for Class A this year. Parsons has the
best top time and is the only one with a pair of runs under 51 seconds. Long has also
gone under 51 seconds and just beat Parsons at the Regional. Jackson joins Parsons as
the only two with three runs under 52 seconds, and he was the runner-up last year. Jones
picked up the event late in the season and has nailed a pair of runs under 52 seconds.
Mullenax has a better top time than Jones and also has a pair of runs under 52 seconds.
Harler has only ran the event three times. Twice it went very well, but his Regional
run will have him running in lane 6 of the first heat. 2 have been under 51 seconds.
4 have been under 51.50. 7 have been under 52. 9 have been under 53.
800 M 1. Logan Kerby Wirt
2. Chase Uppole Williamstown
3. Devin Rich Buffalo
4. Hunter Riffle Doddridge
5. Travis Kearns Wahama
6. Caleb White Gilmer
Kerby has the only run under 2:03, which he's done four times. His 5th best time is better
than anyone else's best. He's also the defending champion. Uppole has a pair of runs under
2:05. Rich has a better top time than Uppole and a very similar overall series. I gave
the nod to Uppole due to Rich being in the 1600 in the morning session while Uppole is not
this year. Riffle has a better top time than Uppole and beat both Uppole and Rich at the
Regional, but that is his only run under 2:08, and he'll be in that 1600 as well. Kearns
has a pair of runs under 2:08. White has a better top time than Kearns and beat him at the
Regional, but that 2:06 was his only run under 2:12. 4 have been under 2:04. 7 have been
under 2:08.
1600 M 1. Logan Kerby Wirt
2. Hayden Harrison Buffalo
3. Hunter Riffle Doddridge
4. Devin Rich Buffalo
5. Greg Hart Charleston Catholic
6. Travis Kearns Wahama
Kerby has the top time n the group by 2 seconds and has four runs under 4:40. Harrison
has the 2nd best time and the best overal series with three runs under 4:35. Riffle's
top time is less than a second off Harrison's and is the only one in the field with five
runs under 4:40. Rich is the only other one to have been under 4:40, which he's done
twice. While his top time is 6 seconds behind Riffle's, he sports a better resume this
year than he did last year, when he lowered his time by 13 seconds to win the event.
Hart has three runs under 4:48. Kearns has a better top time than Hart and just beat
him at the Regional. Four have been under 4:40. 7 have been under 4:47.
3200 M 1. Hayden Harrison Buffalo
2. Hunter Riffle Doddridge
3. Logan Kerby Wirt
4. Devin Rich Buffalo
5. Trey Heaster Doddridge
6. Jesse Canaday Sherman
Harrison has the top time in the field by 9 seconds and has at lesat 5 runs under 9:50.
Riffle has the only other sub-10 run in the group, going under 9:40 at the Gazette Relays.
Kerby ran a 10:05 in early April, but has only ran the event twice. Rich has only ran the
event three times. Heaster has a better top time than Rich, but Rich has beaten him in
both head-to-head meetings. Canaday has the next best top time and a pair of runs under
10:30 and beat Heaster at the Gazette Relays. 2 have gone under 10:00. 5 have gone under
10:20. 9 have gone under 10:30.
110 HH 1. Anthony Johnson St. Marys
2. Tim Wickham Williamstown
3. John Burkhalter Wheeling Central
4. Tavon Jeter Madonna
5. Austin Barker South Harrison
6. Garrett Devericks Doddridge
Johnson has the best front-end (top 3) series in the field. Wickham has the best overall
series. Burkhalter has the best top time, but his second best run is a full 0.7 behind
his best. This should be fun. Jeter has three runs under 15.8 seconds. Devericks has
the next best series, slightly edgin out Barker, but Barker has beaten Devericks in their
matchups this year, so I gave the nod to Barker. 6 in the field have been under 16 seconds.
8 have been under 16.25.
300 IH 1. Anthony Johnson St. Marys
2. Jarod Kacor Magnolia
3. Tim Wickham Williamstown
4. Ian Parsons Buffalo
5. John Burkhalter Wheeling Central
6. Austin Barker South Harrison
Johnson has the top time in the field and is the defending champion. He has four runs
under 41 seconds. Kacor has also gone under 40 seconds and has three runs under 41.
Wickham has the next best top time and the next best series. Parsons is one of just
three in the field with pair of runs under 42 seconds. Burkhalter has also gone under
42 and has the next best series. Barker has the 4th best top time, but his overall series
isn't as strong as that of Burkhalter. 2 have been under 40. Their top times place them
a full 2 seconds ahead of the field. 6 have been under 42. 8 have been under 43.
4x100 M 1. Tyler Consolidated
2. Williamstown
3. Magnolia
4. Wheeling Central
5. Wahama
6. Valley Wetzel
Tyler Consolidated has the top time in the field by over half a second. Williamstown has
the next best time and four runs under 46 seconds. Magnolia only has the 6th best time
in the field, but they'll be able to move Jarod Kacor onto this unit, and I think that
pushes them up to #3. Wheeling Central has the next best top time and a pair of runs under
46 seconds. Wahama has four runs under 46 seconds. Valley Wetzel has the next best
top time of units that will actually be used. 6 teams have gone under 46 seconds. 11
have gone under 47.
4x200 M 1. Wheeling Central
2. Williamstown
3. Tyler Consolidated
4. South Harrison
5. St. Marys
6. Doddridge
Wheeling Central has the top time in the field and a pair of runs under 1:35. Williamstown
has the next best time of units that will be run and also has two under 1:35. Tyler
Consolidated has gone under 1:35 and was faster at the Regional than Williamstown. South
Harrison went under 1:35 in mid-April. They could go as high as 2nd. St. Marys has a
run under 1:34, but that was with Anthony Johnson. They have two under 1:36 without him.
Doddridge went under 1:36 at their Regional. Everyone else is at least 2 seconds behind.
4x400 M 1. Wheeling Central
2. Magnolia
3. Williamstown
4. Buffalo
5. St. Marys
6. Wahama
Wheeling Central and Magnolia have both ran faster than the State Meet record, so this
should be a good one. Wheeling Central dominated the Regional matchup between the units
that will likely be used. Their top time is over 2 seconds faster. I don't know that
they can go any faster than they did. I think Magnolia can make up some ground but not
enough. Williamstown can go a little faster but probably not enough to catch either team.
I think Buffalo has a little more upside than St. Marys. Those five teams have all run
under 3:38, over 3 seconds faster than the battle for 6th. I have Wahama and three other
teams with nearly identical potential. I went with Wahama because they've gone 3 seconds
faster than those other teams.
4x800 M 1. Wirt
2. Buffalo
3. Charleston Catholic
4. Williamstown
5. Doddridge
6. St. Marys
I show Wirt with the most potential, and they've run the top time in the field by nearly
10 seconds. I have Buffalo right on their heels, though. Charleston Catholic appears
to be the next in line, though I have Williamstown right with them. Doddridge gets the
next spot, having ran an 8:52 without Hunter Riffle. I think St. Marys has the opportunity
to improve their unit, and they'll probably have to. Pocahontas will be very much in
the hunt.
Shuttle 1. Williamstown
2. Paden City
3. Doddridge
4. Magnolia
5. Tyler Consolidated
6. Tucker
Williamstown took over the top spot with an excellent Regional run. Paden City joins them
as the only teams to have gone under 1:01. Doddridge has the best series with three runs
under 1:02. Magnolia was faster at their Regional than Doddridge was. Tyler Consolidated
has also gone under 1:02. Tucker has the next best time.
H Jump 1. Tucker Cain Valley Wetzel
2. Noah Aviles Gilmer
3. D.J. Zirk Moorefield
4. Cole McGee Magnolia
5. Ben Frederick Calhoun
6. Chase Dunaway Doddridge
Cain is the only person to have gone higher than 6'0, and he's topped 6'4 at least five
times with a top jump of 6'8. Aviles is the only other one with multiple jumps of 6'0.
Zirk and McGee have idential resumes. I gave the nod to Zirk because he got his 6'0 jump
at the Regional. Frederick has a pair of 5'10 jumps. Dunaway is the only other one to
have cleared 5'10.
P Vault 1. Tucker Cain Valley Wetzel
2. Austin Raines Williamstown
3. Jarrett LeMasters Tyler Consolidated
4. Levi Morgan Tyler Consolidated
5. Jerry Greathouse Valley Wetzel
6. Dawson Evans Doddridge
Cain is the only one to have cleared 13'0, and he's done it four times. Raines has a pair
of 12'6 vaults. LeMasters is the only other one with a 12'6 vault and has a pair of 12'0
vaults to go with it. Morgan has four 11'6 vaults. Greathouse has a 12'0 vault to his
credit, but only has an 11'0 and a 10'6 to go with it. Evans has five 11'0 vaults.
L Jump 1. Tucker Cain Valley Wetzel
2. Tyler Anderson Tyler Consolidated
3. John Burkhalter Wheeling Central
4. Zachary Yeater Paden City
5. Tavon Jeter Madonna
6. Austin Juelfs Wahama
Cain is the only one with more than two 21'0 jumps, and he has four of them. Anderson has
a pair of 21'0 jumps and five jumps of at least 20'6. Burkhalter has a 21'0 jump and also
has five of at least 20'6. Yeater has the top jump in the field with his 21'7.50 Regional
jump, but he has only one other 20'0 jump to his credit. Juelfs has three 20'0 jumps.
5 in the field have jumped 21'0. 8 have topped 20'0.
Shot 1. Nathan Stout Gilmer
2. Ben Harris Williamstown
3. Zack Liller Moorefield
4. Alex Eye Moorefield
5. Jacob Cox St. Marys
6. Jacob Easton Buffalo
Stout is far and away the class of the field. As the defending champion and State Meet
record holder, his top throw is nearly 11' further than anyone else's best. His 5th
best throw exceeds 59'0 and would break the current record by a whopping 6'. Harris is
the only other one to have topped 50'0, and he's done it twice. Liller has a pair of
throws over 48'0 and five of at least 47'7. Eye has the next best throw and has five
throws of at least 45'0. Cox has the next best throw and five of at least 44'0. Easton
gets the nod for 6th based on having the next best throw and the next best Regional
performance.
Discus 1. Nathan Stout Gilmer
2. Alex Eye Moorefield
3. Eddie Kachmarek Tucker
4. Ben Harris Williamstown
5. Trevor Hoosier Williamstown
6. Jacob Cox St. Marys
Stout is again the defending champion. He has the top throw in the field by 7' and has
five throws better than anyone else's best. Eye has the next best top throw and the next
best series and has three throws of at least 147'0. Kachmarek has a 150' throw and three
of at least 140'0, and he was runner-up last year. Harris has three throws of at least
145'0 and five of at least 141'0. Hoosier has a 150'0 throw and has five of at least 140'.
Cox doesn't have the next best top throw, but does have three throws of over 140'0 while
Nick Parsons has just the one. 4 in the field have thrown 150'. 7 have thrown 140', and
12 have hit 130'.
