The state meet predictions are based on results have gathered throughout the season, head-to-head competitions, regional results, perceived potential, trends and (of course) gut feeling.

Parkersburg South comes out on top with my picks, but they are very field event reliant. That's dangerous. Cabell Midland has pulled out meets like this before, but they'll need to have their mid-distance crew rolling strong. George Washington is nearly maxed out, so it would be hard for them to move up. Winfield and Hurricane could both pull more points. Parkersburg definitely has some upward mobility, but to get all the way to the top would be asking a lot. Martinsburg is another team with a lot of upward potential. I have them 9th, but moving into the top 5 wouldn't be unreasonable at all. Every point is going to matter in this meet with the points being spread so thin.

Martinsburg 1 Odds are these top two won't score this many points...but that's what I came up with. I do feel pretty confident that these will be the top 2. Things are pretty tight after that. Wheeling Park, and particularly Morgantown, have a lot of upward mobility in their scores. Parkersburg, as well, could move up several spaces.

Petersburg 1 This is almost assuredly a two-team race. I have Roane and Ritchie separated by just 4 points, so there will be a lot of critical events. I only have 3rd through 6th separated by just 3 points. 3rd through 8th are separated by just 9 points. Bridgeport and Keyser have more upward mobility and could move up.

There should be a battle for 2nd, though, and I have the surging Berkeley Springs in that spot by just 6 points over North Marion. North Marion probably has enough upward mobility in their events that they could easily snag that 2nd spot. Keyser could pretty easily pick up a number of points as well.

There is certainly no clear cut favorite. Doddridge has won 4 in a row. Buffalo just beat them at the Regional. Williamstown just took over the top spot in the Power rankings. This should be a lot of fun. The battle for 4th is very tight as well with just 3 points separating the teams.

It seems like as I was doing this, I gave Tucker the benefit of the doubt just about every time, and Williamstown seemed to get the short end of the stick. Charleston Catholic and in particular, Doddridge, have some upward mobility.
