The state meet predictions are based on results have gathered throughout the season, head-to-head competitions, regional results, perceived potential, trends and (of course) gut feeling.
AAA Boys Team Predictions 1. Jefferson 116 2. Cabell Midland 83 3. Parkersburg 42 4. Hedgesville 29 5. Point Pleasant 26 6. Musselman 25 7. Huntington 21 8. Greenbrier East 19 9. Wheeling Park 18 10. Capital 16 10. George Washington 16 10. Parkersburg South 16 13. Hampshire 14 13. Woodrow Wilson 14 15. Hurricane 12 16. Washington 11 16. Winfield 11 18. Shady Spring 10 18. University 10 20. Lewis 9 21. Buckhannon-Upshur 8 21. Martinsburg 8 21. Ripley 8 21. Spring Valley 8 25. Oak Hill 4 26. St. Albans 3 27. Morgantown 1 This is pretty much Jefferson's meet. They'd have to have a disastrous meet to get knocked off. Cabell Midland is the only team that has a prayer. I have Jefferson 33 points ahead of Midland and Midland 41 points ahead of everyone else. Parkersburg looks like a fairly solid 3rd. Then it's very close.
AAA Girls Team Predictions 1. Morgantown 103 2. Buckhannon-Upshur 92 3. Washington 58 4. Winfield 41 5. John Marshall 38 6. Wheeling Park 36 7. University 33 8. Martinsburg 24 9. Hurricane 21 10. Parkersburg 17 11. Jefferson 16 12. St. Albans 14 13. Greenbrier East 13 14. Cabell Midland 12 15. Huntington 9 16. Capital 7 16. Hedgesville 7 18. Parkersburg South 6 19. Shady Spring 5 20. George Washington 2 20. Point Pleasant 2 22. Hampshire 1 22. Preston 1 This one could end up pretty close. Both Morgantown and Buckhannon-Upshur have several performers scoring very highly in their events. A "dud" day by someone could be disastrous for either team. No one else really has a shot at the team title. Washington looks pretty solid for 3rd. Then things get very close with 4 teams within 8 points of each other.
AA Boys Team Predictions 1. Ritchie 69 2. Roane 65 3. Bridgeport 54 4. Keyser 50 5. Fairmont Senior 49 6. Oak Glen 40 7. Grafton 32 8. Webster 27 9. Poca 26 9. Weir 26 11. Scott 24 12. Robert C. Byrd 16 13. Berkeley Springs 14 14. Summers 8 14. Wayne 8 16. Bluefield 6 16. Chapmanville 6 16. Independence 6 16. Westside 6 20. PikeView 5 21. Braxton 4 21. East Fairmont 4 21. Philip Barbour 4 24. Frankfort 2 24. Herbert Hoover 2 24. Mingo Central 2 24. North Marion 2 28. James Monroe 1 I think it's possible for any of the top 4 to win it. I expect that Bridgeport will end up closer than what I have them. They have upward potential in several events.
AA Girls Team Predictions 1. Frankfort 94 2. Oak Glen 79 3. Keyser 58 4. Bridgeport 57 5. North Marion 48 6. Weir 30 7. Nicholas 26 8. Ritchie 23 9. Fairmont Senior 18 10. Berkeley Springs 17 10. Webster 17 12. Liberty Harrison 16 13. Lincoln 15 14. Roane 12 15. Summers 11 16. East Fairmont 7 16. Herbert Hoover 7 16. Wayne 7 19. Scott 5 20. Ravenswood 4 20. Robert C. Byrd 4 22. Philip Barbour 3 This is likely a meet between Frankfort and Oak Glen. Frankfort has been able to put together a few very strong relays to go along with Welker and Jan. Keyser, Bridgeport, adn North Marion should battle for 3rd.
A Boys Team Predictions 1. Doddridge 106 2. Williamstown 74 3. Magnolia 54 4. Tyler Consolidated 51 5. Buffalo 50 6. Charleston Catholic 35 7. St. Marys 34 8. Fayetteville 26 9. Clay-Battelle 25 9. Gilmer 25 11. Valley Wetzel 18 12. Greenbrier West 15 12. Tucker 15 14. Richwood 12 15. East Hardy 8 16. Wirt 5 17. Calhoun 2 17. Pendleton 2 19. Midland Trail 1 Like last year, this is probably a two-team race. Doddridge appears to be fairly solidly in front, but it's not a foregone conclusion with Doddridge picking up a lot of points in the sometimes fickle field events. Magnolia, Tyler Consolidated, and Buffalo should have a very nice battle for 3rd.
A Girls Team Predictions 1. Williamstown 150 2. Doddridge 77 3. Tucker 66 4. Clay-Battelle 52 5. St. Marys 44 6. Charleston Catholic 36 7. Tyler Consolidated 27 8. Wheeling Central 25 9. Madonna 19 10. Wahama 18 11. Richwood 13 12. Union 10 13. Bishop Donahue 9 13. Pendleton 9 15. Magnolia 3 This looks like another runaway for Williamstown. I have them scorign in 17 of 18 events and nearly doubling up 2nd place. Doddridge will battle Tucker and possibly Clay-Battelle for 2nd.
