Class AAA Boys Individual Event Predictions

At this time, it doesn't look like I'll have time to provide the reasoning behind the picks. If
I'm able, I'll add that later. For now, here are the picks.

100 M	1. Dante Price Jefferson
	2. Ramon Edwards	Woodrow Wilson
	3. Chandler Hamilton	Parkersburg
	4. Bryce Ingram	Wheeling Park
	5. Marquez Griffin	Point Pleasant
	6. Josh Ferguson	Musselman
Will the 400 take enough out of Price for Edwards to get him? I don't think so. Price and Edwards
are the only ones to have been under 11 seconds.

200 M	1. Dante Price Jefferson
	2. Josh Ferguson	Musselman
	3. Ramon Edwards	Woodrow Wilson
	4. Davon Tyson Capital
	5. John Hathaway	Winfield
	6. Bryce Jones Huntington
Price may win the event by over a second. Ferguson is the only other runner to have been under 23
seconds (last year there were 9 heading into the State Meet). Then it's a mess. There are 7 guys
whose best time is between 23.11 and 23.18.

400 M	1. Dante Price Jefferson
	2. Josh Ferguson	Musselman
	3. Jacob Kilgore	Spring Valley
	4. Warren Goode	Jefferson
	5. Derrick Brunson	Washington
	6. Jacob Ervin Hedgesville
Will Price take a shot at James Jett's record? I'd love to see it, but he'll be flying solo. His top
time (in the 2 times he's run the open) is almost a second and a half better than anyone else. Then
we have 8 guys who have run 50.XX. Ferguson has been under 50.10 twice. Kilgore has 3 runs under 51.

800 M	1. Jacob Burcham	Cabell Midland
	2. Brian Lawhon	Cabell Midland
	3. Mason Dino Cabell Midland
	4. Caleb Riffle	Point Pleasant
	5. Jacob Kilgore	Spring Valley
	6. Preston Sheldon	Winfield
Burcham is the obvious favorite. Lawhon and Dino cracked 1:57 at the Regional. Riffle and Sheldon
have been under 2:00. Kilgore has a couple runs under 2:02 and has the speed to be very dangerous. 5 in the field have been under 2:00. 9 have been under 2:02. Interestingly, the 1600 doesn't impact
this event much this year. Only 4 competitors are doing both.

1600 M	1. Jacob Burcham	Cabell Midland
	2. Matthew Brafford	George Washington
	3. Ryan Graf Jefferson
	4. Andrew Milliron	Jefferson
	5. Andy Paladino	University
	6. Levi Snedegar	Greenbrier East
The only thing I'm really confident about here is Burcham winning. After that, no one has separated
themselves. Brafford and Graf have been under 4:25. Milliron ran 4:22 last year. Paladino has a
couple 4:27 runs. Snedegar has a couple 4:32 runs. 14 guys have been under 4:40, including Avery
Campbell, who ran 4:25 last year, but has been out most of this season, with his only 1600 being his
4:39 at the Regional Meet.

3200 M	1. Jacob Burcham	Cabell Midland
	2. Matthew Brafford	George Washington
	3. Ryan Graf Jeffeson
	4. Andrew Milliron	Jefferson
	5. Andy Paladiono	University
	6. Levi Snedegar	Greenbrier East
Burcham is again the obvious favorite. Brafford has been under 9:20. Graf is the only other one to
have been under 9:30 with a 9:23. I again gave Milliron the edge over Paladino. He just seems to step
forward in the big meets. Snedegar gets the nod for 6th. Seth Edwards and Colin Radabaugh have both
been under 10:00, and again, you have to look out for Avery Campbell who only has a pair of runs under
his belt with a 10:00 top time at the MSAC championships.

110 HH	1. Nate Moore Cabell Midland
	2. Ryan Gatrell	Huntington
	3. Warren Gray Jefferson
	4. Niles Dailey	Cabell Midland
	5. Logan Cox Parkersburg South
	6. Dustin Martin	Lewis
After a long season in which no one cracked 15, Moore crushed it twice at the Regional and Gatrell got
through as well. Gray has a pair of runs under 15.10. It's very messy after that.

300 IH	1. Evan Rhodes Parkersburg
	2. Warren Gray Jefferson
	3. Dustin Martin	Lewis
	4. Niles Dailey	Cabell Midland
	5. Seth Cutright	Buckhannon-Upshur
	6. Nate Moore Cabell Midland
4 in the field have been under 40 seconds. Rhodes almost broke 39. Rhodes, Gray, and Martin have
been under 41 three times each. 9 in the field have been under 41 at leat once.

4x100 M	1. Point Pleasant
	2. Hedgesville
	3. Huntington
	4. Musselman
	5. Capital
	6. Lewis
With Jefferson out of the way, this is pretty wide open. The top 7 teams have top times that are just
0.4 seconds apart. None of the teams have been under 44 seconds. 13 have been under 45 seconds.

4x200 M	1. Jefferson
	2. Washington
	3. Parkersburg
	4. Point Pleasant
	5. Wheeling Park
	6. Hedgesville
With Jefferson's DQ in the Regional 4x100, that opens up a spot somewhere for Dante Price. I don't
think he land here, though. They may well still win it without him. 4 teams have been under 1:32.
4 more have been under 1:32.4

4x400 M	1. Jefferson
	2. Martinsburg
	3. Hedgesville
	4. Hurricane
	5. Point Pleasant
	6. Greenbrier East
I think this is where Dante Price lands. Moving him to this relay could give it a legitimate shot at
breaking the long-standing State Meet record in the event. Martinsburg and Hedgesville are very
evenly matched. I think Martinsburg may have one more move that they can make. Hurricane is next in
line. Point Pleasant has at least 3:29, if not 3:27 potential. Greenbrier East has the next best
time. I have Cabell Midland with a higher upside than Greenbrier East, but coming off the 800, I don't
think they can pull it off (particularly since I think this is the year they let Burcham run the
4x800).

4x800 M	1. Cabell Midland
	2. Jefferson
	3. University
	4. Wheeling Park
	5. Hedgesville
	6. Morgantown
As I said above, I think this will be the year they let Burcham run the 4x800 and take a shot at that
State Meet Record. Jefferson has the next best crew, but they can't run with a loaded Midland. Then
you have 6 or 7 teams that are basically identical. For the most part, I just went with they they've
already shown me.

Shuttle	1. Cabell Midland
	2. Parkersburg
	3. Huntington
	4. Parkersburg South
	5. Wheeling Park
	6. Hedgesville
Midland has been under 58 seconds. The next five all have top times between 58.63 and 58.96. It
should be fun to watch.

H Jump	1. Jordan Hardiman	Jefferson
	2. Trey Cochran	Greenbrier East
	3. Austin Allman	Parkersburg
	4. Casey Feezle	Hampshire
	5. Marc Logan Oak Hill
	6. Aaron Snider	Hedgesville
Hardiman went 6'10 at the Regional and 6'9 early in the season. He's a very solid favorite. Only
Cochran and Allman among the rest have cleared 6'4.

P Vault	1. Tristan Slater	Capital
	2. Chantz Rankin	Hurricane
	3. Chase Bonar Wheeling Park
	4. Hunter Weaver	Hedgesville
	5. Chris Cochran	Winfield
	6. Adrian Baker	Washington
Slater is the only one to have topped 13'6 more than once or 13'0 three times. Rankin is the only
other one to have multiple 13'0 vaults. Cochran is the only other than Slater to have cleared 13'6,
but his next best clearance is 12'2.

L Jump	1. Martinez Grant	Jefferson
	2. Ryan Gregory	Ripley
	3. Christian Smith	Winfield
	4. Josh Taggert-Perez	Hedgesville
	5. Deon Marion Oak Hill
	6. Caleb Butcher	Lewis
Grant has 3 jumps over 22 feet. No one else has been further than 20'7. Only 7 in the field have
topped 20'0. Only 4 in total have more than one 20' jump. Many of the top jumps have come at very
jumper friendly venues. Bottom line...I have no idea how this will shake out.

Shot	1. Houstin Syvertson	Shady Spring
	2. Tre' Moore Greenbrier East
	3. Isaac Johnson	Buckhannon-Upshur
	4. Thomas Baroody	Musselman
	5. Dylon Rippeto	Parkersburg South
	6. Kajuan Lockett	Hedgesville
Syvertson has 3 tosses over 52' and at least 5 over 51'. Moore has a 52' and another 50'. Johnson
has a pair of 50's and three 49's. Baroody has a 50' and a 49'
No one else has been beyond 47'6.

Discus	1. Levi Moreland	Hampshire
	2. Dylon Rippeto	Parkersburg South
	3. Brandon Pethtel	Parkersburg
	4. Matt Berlo Point Pleasant
	5. Travis Vickers	St. Albans
	6. Jacob Lomax St. Albans
Moreland had 4 throws over 155'. No one else has more than 1. Rippeto is the only one with five
150' throws. Pethtel is the only one with a 160' throw with a top mark of 162'8. His 3rd best throw
is just 141'2, though. 6 have been over 140'. Only four have done it multiple times.

High Point Predictions
1. Jacob Burcham Cabell Midland 32.50
1. Dante Price Jefferson 32.50
3. Josh Ferguson Musselman 18
4. Warren Gray Jefferson 16.50
5. Matthew Brafford George Washington 16
