Class A Boys Individual Event Predictions
100 M 1. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
2. Alex Doak Tyler Consolidated
3. Stephen Rogalski Magnolia
4. Kage Rohde Magnolia
5. Joshua Parker East Hardy
6. Shayne Hinkle Clay-Battelle
Gore only has the 5th best time in the group, but he was in a worse situation last
year and came within 3 thousandths of a second of winning it. Doak has the top
time and the best series. Rogalski is coming off an injury with the Regional being
his first meet back, but he ran well. I do think there's a fair chance that Magnolia
pulls Rogalski from this event and adds him to the 4x400. There's also a chance
they could pull Rohde to add him to either the 4x100 or 4x400. 5 in the field have
been under 11.50. 9 have been under 11.60. Parker only has the 10th best time, but
he was 4th two years ago as a Sophomore. He only has 2 FAT runs on the season, so
he's a little hard to judge.
200 M 1. Alex Doak Tyler Consolidated
2. Stephen Rogalski Magnolia
3. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
4. Trace Hart Williamstown
5. Shayne Hinkle Clay-Battelle
6. Ethan Barker Midland Trail
Doak is the only one who has been under 23 seconds. Rogalski, again, is coming off
that injury. If he has returned to full health, he may well win the event. Gore
is certainly a threat to win it also. It's really messy after that. Hinkle has
easily the next best time. Actually, his top time is better than Gore's, but it came
on one of those nice tailwind days when everyone was really fast. 6 have been under
23.50. 10 have been under 23.80.
400 M 1. Nathan Tolley Clay-Battelle
2. Stephen Rogalski Magnolia
3. Alex Doak Tyler Consolidated
4. Zach Cottrill Doddridge
5. Jason Lockhart Williamstown
6. Kage Rohde Magnolia
Tolley has the top time and is the only one with multiple runs under 51 seconds, and
he has 3 of them. This is not a given, though. Rogalski could very well win this
if he's been able to regain enough conditioning. Doak has a better top time than
Rogalski. Cottrill has a pair of runs under 52 seconds. Lockhart has the only other
sub-52. Magnolia may pull Kage Rohde from this event to add him to either the
4x100 or 4x400. 8 have been under 52.40. No one else has been under 53.
800 M 1. Dylan Rich Buffalo
2. Isaiah Robinson Buffalo
3. Jason Lockhart Williamstown
4. Logan Kerby Wirt
5. Jordan Whitehair St. Marys
6. James Haught Magnolia
Rich through out an early 1:55.99 and has three other runs under 2:00 to go along
with it. Robinson has a 2:02.97 which is the only other run under 2:05 in the field.
Lockhart has the only other run under 2:06. 6 have been under 2:07. 9 have been
under 2:07.3
1600 M 1. Dylan Rich Buffalo
2. Jordan Whitehair St. Marys
3. Caleb Moore Doddridge
4. Marcus Black Charleston Catholic
5. Caden McClanahan Charleston Catholic
6. Logan Kerby Wirt
Rich is far and away the favorite. He's the State Meet record holder from a year ago
and has gone under 4:20 twice this year. Whitehair and Moore each have 3 runs under
4:40. Whitehair has beaten Moore more than the other way around and did so in their
last meeting, and he was 2nd last year. Black has a pair of very strong runs.
McClanahan blew out a 4:35 at the Regional after having not run under 4:57 prior.
He's a 2:03 800 guy, so he is very dangerous. 5 have run under 4:37. 8 have run
under 4:43.
3200 M 1. Dylan Rich Buffalo
2. Caleb Moore Doddridge
3. Marcus Black Charleston Catholic
4. Jordan Whitehair St. Marys
5. Matt Zorn Doddridge
6. Hayden Harrison Buffalo
Rich is the favorite here as well. His 9:42 from Gazette's is the top time by 8
seconds. Moore and Black are the only other ones to go under 10:00. Only 5 have
been under 10:20, and only 6 have been under 10:50.
110 HH 1. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge
2. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge
3. Colby Ennis Greenbrier West
4. Tyler Snyder Tucker
5. Dylan Fetty St. Marys
6. Gabe Garrison Buffalo
Plaugher has the best time and the best series, but he's coming off injury.
Muhly-Alexander just nipped him at the Regional, but Plaugher may well get him back
at the State Meet. Ennis has the next best top time, while Snyder has a slightly
better series than Ennis. 7 in the field have been under 17 seconds.
300 IH 1. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge
2. Mitchell Goertler Williamstown
3. Dylan Fetty St. Marys
4. Hunter Lemasters Tyler Consolidated
5. Josh Lowther Gilmer
6. Philip Mallory Charleston Catholic
Plaugher, again, is coming off injury. Goertler beat him at the Regional, but I'm
guessing that another week of shaking off the rust will be enough to get Plaugher
back in front. Goertler and Fetty have the only other sub-42 runs in the field.
4 others have been under 43.
4x100 M 1. Williamstown
2. Clay-Battelle
3. Magnolia
4. Tyler Consolidated
5. Pendleton
6. Greenbrier West
Williamstown is over a second ahead of the field when fully loaded. They might not
have to fully load to win. Clay-Battelle looks to have the edge for 2nd, though
Magnolia could move past them if they move Rodhe onto this unit. Only two teams
have been under 46 seconds. 10 have been under 47 seconds.
4x200 M 1. Williamstown
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Magnolia
4. Clay-Battelle
5. Richwood
6. Doddridge
Williamstown is again the favorite. Charleston Catholic can give them a run if Sam
Revercomb is healthy. Reportedly he's going to try to run. Magnolia could conceivably
win it if they move Rogalski onto this relay. 5 teams have run under 1:36 at some
point. 8 have been under 1:37.
4x400 M 1. Williamstown
2. Magnolia
3. Charleston Catholic
4. Tucker
5. Doddridge
6. Tyler Consolidated
Williamstown could move Goertler to this relay. Magnolia could load up with both
Rohde and Rogalski. I have Charleston Catholic and Tucker about even. I gave
Charleston Catholic the nod beceause they've been faster. Tucker would have to
move Freeman from the 4x100 to the 4x400 to get in there.
4x800 M 1. Buffalo
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Williamstown
4. Doddridge
5. Tucker
6. St. Marys
Buffalo has the top two guys in the 800, so naturally, their relay is strong. This
won't be anything like last year though with the beautiful battle between Buffalo
and St. Marys. No team is going to approach those times. I have Charleston Catholic
within 3 seconds of Buffalo. I have Williamstown and Doddridge about even. If
Evan Fowler were able to run, they might be in the hunt to win it. I don't think
he's going to be available, though. St. Marys gets to add Jordan Whitehair to
the lineup and could conceivably crack the top 4.
Shuttle 1. Richwood
2. Greenbrier West
3. Doddridge
4. Tucker
5. Gilmer
6. Tyler Consolidated
Richwood has the only sub 1:02 run in the group. They have 3 runs better than
anyone else's best. Greenbrier West is the only other team with multiple runs
under 1:03. Doddridge cracked 1:03 at the Regional. A healthier Daniel Plaugher
could threaten Greenbrier West. Tucker and Gilmer have both been under 1:04 twice.
6 have been under 1:05 with 2 more just over.
H Jump 1. Anthony Aviles Gilmer
2. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge
3. Zach Cottrill Doddridge
4. Dylan Fetty St. Marys
5. Ryan Slider Calhoun
6. Mason Mitchell Tucker
Aviles has three jumps higher than 6'6 and a full series of at least 6'6. Only
Muhly-Alexander has a 6'6 jump among the rest of the field. Cottrill is the only
other jumper to have cleared 6'2, and he's done it 3 times. Three others have
cleared 6'0.
P Vault 1. Hunter Lemasters Tyler Consolidated
2. Dyllon Hayes Doddridge
3. Mitchell Goertler Williamstown
4. Ian Spencer Doddridge
5. Dalton George Williamstown
6. Josh Ruble Tyler Consolidated
Hayes has the only 14'0 vaults in the field, and he has two of them. However, he
hasn't been higher than 13'0 since 4/23. Lemasters has more 13'6 vaults than
Hayes and beat him at the LKC Championships. Goertler has the only other 13'0
vault in the field. Spencer and George have both cleared 12'6. Spencer has a
12'0 to go with it. Two others have cleared 11'6.
L Jump 1. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
2. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge
3. Joshua Parker East Hardy
4. Tim Weekley Magnolia
5. Kage Rohde Magnolia
6. Dylan Fetty St. Marys
Gore has a pair of 21' jumps. Muhly-Alexander has 3 of them, but they all occurred
at the jumper heavens of Ritchie and Tyler Consolidated. The whole group is a
toss up really. 7 have jumped at least 20'6, and each has at least two jumps over
20'. 5 jumpers have at least 4 jumps over 20'.
Shot 1. Spencer Mason Valley Wetzel
2. Evan Smith Williamstown
3. Jacob Highley Tyler Consolidated
4. Reed Ratliff Gilmer
5. Nathan Stout Gilmer
6. Isaac Britton Doddridge
Mason has 5 throws over 51'. No one else has topped 50'. Smith has three throws
over 49'. Highley only has the 5th best top throw but is more consistent than
the rest with 5 throws over 45'. Ratliff is somewhat the same with only the 6th
best top throw but 5 over 44'0. Stout has a 48' through but then only a couple
44's to back it up. Britton hit 49' at his Regional but only has a 44' and a
couple 43's to go with it. 7 in the field have hit 45' with another missing the
mark by just an inch.
Discus 1. Isaac Britton Doddridge
2. Spencer Mason Valley Wetzel
3. Jimmy Jemison St. Marys
4. Nathan Stout Gilmer
5. Evan Smith Williamstown
6. Hunter Ashley Gilmer
Britton has 5 throws of at least 152'0 and a top throw of 160'2. Mason has 4 throws
between 145' and 147'. Jemison has a pair of 140' throws. Stout has the only other
140' throw. 8 in the field have hit 130'. Two others have hit 128'.
High Point Predictions

2. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge 27.50
3. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville 26
4. Alex Doak Tyler Consolidated 25
5. Stephen Rogalski Magnolia 24
