100 M 1. Casey Pingley Valley Wetzel
2. Jacob Ortiz Wahama
3. Cory Aichele Doddridge
4. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
5. Tyler Zahnow Bishop Donahue
6. Ronald Swaniger Clay-Battelle
Pingley is the defending champion and has the best top time in the field by nearly 0.3 seconds.
Ortiz has stepped forward late in the season. Aichele has the next best series and has beaten
Ortiz on occasion this year. Gore actually falls at # 8 on the list, but he scored a 3rd last
year and is very dangerous. Zahnow and Swaniger have the next best series. 5 have been under
11.50 FAT, and 8 have been under 11.70 FAT.
200 M 1. Casey Pingley Valley Wetzel
2. Matthew White Valley Fayette
3. Jonathan Gore Fayetteville
4. Jacob Ortiz Wahama
5. Cory Aichele Doddridge
6. Trace Hart Williamstown
Pingley again stands at the top. He has the only sub-23 run in the field and has four runs
better than anyone else's best. White and Gore looked very, very good at the Regional Meet.
Ortiz scored an impressive 23.09 at a very late season conference meet and has the 2nd best
top time in the field. Aichele is one of just two in the field with two runs under 23.50.
9 in the field have been under 24, one of which is Derek Renner who I think gets pulled from
this event to be on a relay.
400 M 1. Derek Renner St. Marys
2. Matthew White Valley Fayette
3. Nathan Tolley Clay-Battelle
4. Zack Cottrill Doddridge
5. Zach Bennett Richwood
6. Jarric Hoskins Williamstown
Renner has the only sub-51 FAT run, and has the best series with four runs under 52 seconds.
White has a sub-51 hand time and two other runs under 52 seconds. Those are the only times I've
seen him in the event. Tolley has also only run the event three times with strong improvement
in each. Cottrill has a better top time and better overall series than Tolley, but Tolley won
the Regional meeting, so give the nod to him. Those four are the only ones to have been under
52 seconds. Two others have been under 53.
800 M 1. Dylan Rich Buffalo
2. Derek Renner St. Marys
3. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
4. Caden McClanahan Charleston Catholic
5. Will Farkas-Worthy Charleston Catholic
6. Jordan Whitehair St. Marys
Rich is the only one to have been under 2:00, and he's gone under 1:58 and has been under 2:00
three times. Renner has only run the open twice, but he's hit 2:03 and 2:00, finishing just
0.36 behind Rich at the Regional. Shaffer has a 2:01 and a pair of 2:02 runs. McClanahan hit
a 2:03 in a very hotly contested Regional race in which 8 guys ran under 2:06. Farkas-Worthy
was a 4th place finisher a year ago and has to be considered dangerous. Whitehair gets a slight
nod over Evan Childers and Charlie Drazba since that's how it went in the Regional, and he
has a slightly better series.
1600 M 1. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
2. Evan Childers Buffalo
3. Dylan Rich Buffalo
4. Charlie Drazba St. Marys
5. Jordan Whitehair St. Marys
6. Caleb Moore Doddridge
Shaffer and Childers both scored under 4:30 at the Gazette Relays with Shaffer edging Childers
for the win. I see a repeat performance. Shaffer has better closing speed, and is slightly
faster than Childers at times 1, 2, and 3. Rich ran a 4:31 at the Gazette Relays which is over
five seconds ahead of anyone else. He also has a 4:34 to his name. He has the best 800 speed
of the group and could win it. Drazba has the next best top time and three runs under 4:40.
Whitehair has a pair of runs under 4:40. Moore has a better top time than Whitehair, but hasn't
run under 4:40 since March. 7 total have run under 4:40. 9 have run under 4:45.
3200 M 1. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
2. Evan Childers Buffalo
3. Charlie Drazba St. Marys
4. Dylan Rich Buffalo
5. Caleb Moore Doddridge
6. Marcus Black Charleston Catholic
Shaffer put away the field at the Gazette Relays, and his 9:39 is nearly five seconds ahead of
everyone else. Childers ran under 9:45 in March and easily has the best series in the group.
Drazba hsa three runs under 10:00. Rich has a better top time than Drazba. Moore has a pair
of runs under 10:00. Black was right behind Moore at the Gazette Relays. Those 6 have all
run under 9:56. None one else has been under 10:17.
110 HH 1. George Maddox East Hardy
2. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge
3. Tyler Zahnow Bishop Donahue
4. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge
5. Will Thaxton Doddridge
6. Jesse Taylor Pocahontas
Maddox only has one FAT run all season, but it was his stellar 15.08 Regional run. He had some
impressive hand times as well. Plaugher scored a 15.14 at his Regional and could take the tiels
Zahnow joins Plaugher as the only ones to have 5 FAT runs under 16 seconds. Muhly-Alexander is
the only other one to have gone under 16 seconds, and he's done it twice. Taxton has come on
late with three his last three runs being under 17 seconds and each one better than the last.
Two others have been under 17.
300 IH 1. Daniel Plaugher Doddridge
2. George Maddox East Hardy
3. Tyler Zahnow Bishop Donahue
4. Dylan Fetty St. Marys
5. Philip Mallory Charleston Catholic
6. Derek Hinkle Clay-Battelle
Plaugher has the only sub-40 run in the group. Maddox just missed the mark at his Regional
Meet. Plaugher does have 5 runs better than Maddox's 2nd best. Maddox did edge Plaugher for
the title last year, though. Zahnow's top time is 1.4 second ahead of anyone else's best, and
he has five runs of 41.6 or better. Those three are the only ones to have been under 42.5 Only
five have been under 43. 8 have been under 44.
4x100 M 1. Williamstown
2. Wahama
3. Fayetteville
4. Doddridge
5. Clay-Battelle
6. Pocahontas
Williamstown has a full series of runs under 45.50. No one else has more than 1. Wahama's top
time is just 0.09 behind Williamstown. Doddridge is the only other team to have been under 46.
Fayetteville ran 46.25 at the Regional meet with one of their legs coming right off the 300
Hurdles. 7 have been under 46.4. 11 have been under 47. This one should be pretty close.
4x200 M 1. Doddridge
2. Williamstown
3. Wahama
4. Clay-Battelle
5. Charleston Catholic
6. Valley Wetzel
Doddridge has the top time in the field by over 1.3 seconds and the best overall series and
the best Regional performance. Williamstown is the only other team to have run under 1:36, and
they've been under 1:35 three times. Wahama has three runs under 1:37. Clay-Battelle can add
Ronald Swaniger to their unit which should bolster their time. 5 have been under 1:36.5. 8 have
been under 1:38.
4x400 M 1. Williamstown
2. Charleston Catholic
3. St. Marys
4. Clay-Battelle
5. Doddridge
6. Tucker
Williamstown is a slight favorite. The status of Evan Fowler is unknown. If he's healthy, he
probably comes onto this unit and makes it even better. Charleston Catholic ran under 3:37 in
March, so they have to be considered a threat to win it. I think St. Marys can run 3:36. I
think Clay-Battelle will drop Swaniger from the 200 and add him to the 4x400. That may be enough
to move them past Doddridge.
4x800 M 1. Buffalo
2. St. Marys
3. Charleston Catholic
4. Williamstown
5. Doddridge
6. Tucker
Buffalo and St. Marys should have a great battle. I have them both in the 8:18 range. Buffalo
has a slightly better top time, so I'm giving them the nod. Charleston Catholic can run under
8:30. Williamstown and Doddridge should battle for fourth. If Evan Fowler can run, that will
likely give Williamstown the edge. Those five have all run 8:55 or better. No one else has been
under 9:05.
Shuttle 1. Doddridge
2. Bishop Donahue
3. Williamstown
4. Buffalo
5. Gilmer
6. Pocahontas
Doddridge has a pair of runs under 60 seconds. No one else has been under 61. Bishop Donahue
has a pair of runs under 62. No one else has been under 62.5 Williamstown has the only other
run under 1:03. Buffalo has the only other runs under 1:04. Gilmer has the only other run under
1:05.
H Jump 1. Anthony Aviles Gilmer
2. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge
3. Zane Creamer South Harrison
4. Saquan Hill Bishop Donahue
5. Jesse Taylor Pocahontas
6. Mitchell Mason Tucker
Aviles cleared 6'8 1/4 at the Gazette Relays and has a 6'5 jump to go along with it. Muhly-Alexander
has a pair of 6'4 jumps and a 6'3. Creamer has a 6'3 and a pair of 6'2s. No one else has cleared
6'0 more than once, and only Taylor has done it once.
P Vault 1. Keiffer Reed Charleston Catholic
2. Daniel Scott Wheeling Central
3. Alex Marchetti Williamstown
4. Dyllon Hayes Doddridge
5. Mitchell Goertler Williamstown
6. Ian Spencer Doddridge
Reed has four 14' vaults to his credit, including a 14'6. Scott has a 14'7 and a 14'0. Marchetti
has a 14'0 and a 13'6. Hayes is the only other to have cleared 13'0. Geortler has a pair of
12'6 vaults. Spencer has four clearances of 12'0, and they've been in his last four meets. Josh
Lowther has actually cleared 12'6, but that happened in March. He hasn't been higher than 11'6
since April 17th.
L Jump 1. Zane Creamer South Harrison
2. Matthew White Valley Fayette
3. Dillon Muhly-Alexander Doddridge
4. Dylan Fetty St. Marys
5. Zach Bennett Richwood
6. Crandal Neal Wahama
Creamer hsa three jumps of at least 20'10 and had the best Regional jump. I've only seen four
jumps for White, but they've each been at least 20'4. Muhly-Alexander has the top jump in the
field and the top overall series, but his two best jumps came in early-to-mid April. Fetty
has a trio of 20' jumps and beat Muhly-Alexander at the LKC Championships. Bennett also has a
trio of 20' jumps. Neal has a pair of 20'0 jumps. In all 9 have jumped 20', and 8 of them have
done it at least twice.
Shot 1. Devon Carr Williamstown
2. Spencer Mason Valley Wetzel
3. Evan Smith Williamstown
4. Reed Ratliff Gilmer
5. Logan Raines Williamstown
6. Austin Patterson Clay-Battelle
Carr launched one 55'0 at the LKC Championships and has three 50' throws. Spencer has also
been over 51' and is the only one in the field with a full series of 49' throws. Smith has
a 49' throw and four more over 47'. Those three have top throws that are over 5' ahead of
anyone else. Two others have topped 43'. Three more have been over 42'.
Discus 1. Isaac Britton Doddridge
2. Spencer Mason Valley Wetzel
3. Devon Carr Williamstown
4. Jimmy Jemison St. Marys
5. Evan Smith Williamstown
6. Alexander Graham Richwood
Britton has the only 150' throw in the field, and he has four throws that top anyone else's best.
Spencer is the only other one with multiple throws of 140', and he has four of them. Carr is the
only other one to have hit 140'. Jemison scored a 139' at the Regional Meet, but his second best
throw is 125'. Smith has three over 125'. 6 total have hit 125'. 9 have hit 120'.
