Class AAA Boys Individual Event Predictions

100 M	1. Daniel Brown	Huntington
	2. Shaquille Williams	George Washington
	3. Dante Price Jefferson
	4. Tyler Hutchison	Huntington
	5. Luke Sanson St. Albans
	6. Santana Moretto	Princeton
I could see any of the top 3 winning this event. The group is pretty closely packed, so
just about anyone could squeeze into the last couple spots. Brown has five runs under 11.20.
Williams has five runs under 11.30.

200 M	1. Daniel Brown	Huntington
	2. Dante Price Jefferson
	3. Shaquille Williams	George Washington
	4. Garrett Grove	Greenbrier East
	5. Jordan Coats	South Charleston
	6. Tyler Hutchison	Huntington
Again, it's possible for any of the top 3, or even the top 4 given Grove's regional
performance, to win the event. I could pretty easily see 12 of the competitors sneaking
into the scoring column. Brown is the one of two in the field with five FAT runs under 23
seconds. Price did beat Brown pretty soundly at the Gazette Relays. Williams was one of
the slowest qualifiers in the Regional Meets. I don't know if he was cruising or if there
was some kind of problem. He is the other with a full series of FAT runs under 23 seconds.
Grove had the fastest regional runs of anyone in the field. He hadn't been under 23 seconds
and then popped off a 22.62 and a 22.44. Coats has three runs under 23 seconds. Hutchison
is the only other one to have gone under 23 seconds twice.

400 M	1. Khiry Timbers	Martinsburg
	2. Drew Johnson	Hurricane
	3. Braden Roberts	Parkersburg South
	4. Markus Cassidy	Elkins
	5. Adam Mills Princeton
	6. Travis Martin	Martinsburg
Timbers is the clear favorite with a top time over 2 seconds better than anyone else. He's
the only one to have gone under 50 seconds, and he's been under four times. Only Johnson
and Roberts have been under 51. Only 7 in the field have been under 52. Cassidy has been
under 52 five times. Johnson has done it threee times. Roberts has done it twice.

800 M	1. Andy Bailey St. Albans
	2. Khiry Timbers	Martinsburg
	3. Brandon Doughty	Jefferson
	4. Jacob Burcham	Cabell Midland
	5. Ryan Smith Cabell Midland
	6. Enze Bond Bridgeport
Despite Bailey running under the existing State Meet record at the Regional Meet, this event
is far from a foregone conclusion. Right up until Bailey ran that time, I was certain that
I'd be picking Timbers to win this event, and I still think it's pretty much a 50/50
proposition. Doughty winning certainly isn't out of the question either. Burcham and Smith
have been under 2:00. Bond, Cody Pelliccioni, and Dayton McVicker have hit under 2:01
(actually they're all at 2:00.30 or better). I gave Bond the nod because he won't have spent
a lot of energy in the 1600 earlier in the day.

This could/should
be a year like 1999 where we have 3 guys under 1:56.5 and all six placers under 2:00.

1600 M	1. Jacob Burcham	Cabell Midland
	2. Brandon Doughty	Jefferson
	3. Cody Pelliccioni	Morgantown
	4. Dayton McVicker	Fairmont Senior
	5. Logan Wojcik	Wheeling Park
	6. Josh Davis Washington
We have five guys that have been 4:26 or better, three of whom have been 4:20 or better.
In 1999, the top six all ran 4:27 or better, but none was under 4:21. Burcham has to be
the favorite after his run at the Gazette Relays. Doughty and Pelliccioni should have a
tight race. McVicker and Wojcik should battle. Davis lands at the top of a group of 7
that have run between 4:33 and 4:38. We could end up with a new State Record here.

3200 M	1. Jacob Burcham	Cabell Midland
	2. Brandon Doughty	Jefferson
	3. Dayton McVicker	Fairmont Senior
	4. Logan Wojcik	Wheeling Park
	5. Patrick Jividen	Winfield
	6. Tyler Salmons	Cabell Midland
Again, Burcham's Gazette performance lands him at the top. Doughty won't let him have it
easily, though. It brings the possibility of taking down both of Zach Tennant's State
Records after a single season. McVicker will try to join the fight. The battle for the
final two spots could be very interesting. Jividen and Preston Whitney have run under 9:50.
Salmons has gone under 10:00 twice. Erich Graf and Patrick Stanton have also run under 10:00.

110 HH	1. Josh Coats South Charleston
	2. Marquis Woods	Hedgesville
	3. Devaughn Palmer	Wheeling Park
	4. Cam Viney Elkins
	5. Chris Deaner	Hedgesville
	6. Cotey Wallace	Brooke
There are actually about 7 guys that I could see winning this thing. Coats has the most
sub-15 runs. Woods was runner-up last year. Viney just beat Woods at the Regional. Deaner
is most certainly in the mix. Palmer has three runs under 15. Cam Jividen would be the
7th player in the mix.

300 IH	1. Cam Viney Elkins
	2. Chris Deaner	Hedgesville
	3. Cam Jividen Winfield
	4. Gary Porter John Marshall
	5. Anthony Abston	Robert C. Byrd
	6. Devaughn Palmer	Wheeling Park
Tough call on this one. Viney has the best top time and a better series than Deaner, but
Deaner just beat him pretty badly at the Regional. Abston is the only other one to have gone
under 40 seconds. Jividen and Palmer are the only others with 3 runs under 41. Porter has
a pair of runs under 40.2.

4x100 M	1. Huntington
	2. George Washington
	3. Jefferson
	4. Wheeling Park
	5. Martinsburg
	6. Hedgesville
I don't know what happened to Huntington at the Regional. Regardless, they're going to have
to do their damage from the 1st heat. I don't think anyone in that heat will be able to push
them, so they're going to have to do it on their own. Huntington and George Washington have
been under 44 seconds. There are 9 other teams that have been between 44 and 45, so things
are going to be tight.

4x200 M	1. Jefferson
	2. Martinsburg
	3. George Washington
	4. Parkersburg
	5. Bridgeport
	6. South Charleston
Surely someone can must going under 1:30? My guess is that Khiry Timbers lands here for his
4th event rather than the 4x800. I could be wrong. If he doesn't land here, Martinsburg
likely falls out of placing. The front 6 have been nearly a full second faster than the # 7
team.

4x400 M	1. Martinsburg
	2. Bridgeport
	3. Elkins
	4. Wheeling Park
	5. Washington
	6. Hedgesville
It's probably too big a risk to pull Timbers out of this to run him in both the 4x200 and
the 4x800. Martinsburg will be very, very hard to beat here. I don't know if they can go
faster than they have, but I have trouble seeing Bridgeport or Elkins going any faster either.
Things are really messy after those three. I have 7 teams that I think can go between 3:28
and 3:31. The ones I don't have placing that could be factors are (alphabetically) Cabell
Midland, Greenbrier East, Parkersburg South, and Winfield.

4x800 M	1. Cabell Midland
	2. Jefferson
	3. Winfield
	4. Hedgesville
	5. Martinsburg
	6. Elkins
I'm assuming that Cabell Midland will move Burcham to this unit. With him, I think they can
run in the very low 8:00's. I don't think anyone else can get down there. Jefferson can run
down in the 8:10 range. I'm not certain that anyone else can run under 8:15. Clearly,
Winfield, Hedgesville, and Martinsburg can get in that ballpark because they all ran under
8:20 at the Regional. If Martinsburg were to run Timbers here instead of the 4x200 (or the
4x400), they probably move to the # 2 spot. The front six have separated themselves a little
from the rest of the field. I think Morgantown would be the most likely to move up for a
scoring spot.

Shuttle	1. Hedgesville
	2. South Charleston
	3. John Marshall
	4. Wheeling Park
	5. Robert C. Byrd
	6. Parkersburg South
The front three have been under 58 seconds. Only Hedgesville has done it twice. The next
three are the only ones to have gone under 59. Winfield only put together a unit at the
Regional and have the 7th best time (5th best Regional Performance), so they're a threat.
Cabell MMidland ran in the low 59's at the Gazette Relays. Elkins and Huntington have been
under 60 seconds twice.

H Jump	1. Chris Deaner	Hedgesville
	2. Errin Baynes	Wheeling Park
	3. Marquis Woods	Hedgesville
	4. Garrett Lynch	Parkersburg South
	5. Jeremy Hayes	John Marshall
	6. Garrett Parker	Bridgeport
Deaner is the only one with five 6'6 jumps. Baynes has four of them and the only 6'7 jump.
Woods is the only other jumper to clear 6'6, and he's done it three times. The next three
are the only other jumpers to clear 6'4.

P Vault	1. Mathew Cummings	Bridgeport
	2. Aaron Roberts	Jefferson
	3. Alex Howden Hurricane
	4. Zach Lewis Buckhannon-Upshur
	5. Jacob Stout Hedgesville
	6. Brady Wolfe Parkersburg
Cummings is the only one to clear 13'6 twice. Roberts joins Cummings as the only vaulter
with five 13'0 clearances. Howden has a 13'6 and a 13'3. Lewis has a 13'6 and a 13'0. He
has nothing else over 11'6, but those two 13' vaults have come in his last two meets.
Clearly, he's figured something out. Stout has a pair of 13'0 vaults. Wolfe and Drew
Goodman are the only other vaulters to top 13'0. Wolfe has a better series than Goodman,
so he gets the spot.

L Jump	1. Anthony Abston	Robert C. Byrd
	2. Glenn Martin	Hedgesville
	3. Michael Walters	Hedgesville
	4. Scott Jones Hedgesville
	5. Purcell Lash	Princeton
	6. Gary Porter John Marshall
This is probably the most critical event of the meet for Hedgesville. Abston has the only
22'0 jump in the field. He has three as good as anyone else's best. Martin and Walters
are the only other jumpers with five 20' jumps. Jones and Lash have three of them while
Porter actually has four. Hassan Sager has the 5th best jump in the field, but his regional
leap is the only time I've seen him over 19'6 all season. Jeremy Hays is the only other
jumper with a pair of 20' jumps.

Shot	1. Raheem Waiters	Riverside
	2. A.J. White Hurricane
	3. Jacob Mines Hurricane
	4. Christian Cummings	Fairmont Senior
	5. Hunter McWhorter	Lewis
	6. Keyder Woodcock	Elkins
Waiters only picked up the shot for the Regional meet...and tossed it over a foot further than
anyone else in the field had all season long. White has a pair of throws over 49'. Mines
has three over 48. Cummings has a 49' throw and a 48' throw. McWhorter is one of only two
in the field with five 47' throws (Mines is the other). Woodcock had the 2nd best Regional
throw in the field. The front six have all throw 48'6 or better. No one else has hit 47'.
Jordan Sorensen is the only other thrower in the field with multiple throws over 46'.

Discus	1. Raheem Waiters	Riverside
	2. Christian Cummings	Fairmont Senior
	3. A.J. White Hurricane
	4. Shawn Miller	Hedgesville
	5. Troy Wingler	Buckhannon-Upshur
	6. Jacob Mines Hurricane
Waiters has the best thrwo in the field by over 13'. His 2nd best throw tops anyone else in
the field by over 4'. His two best throws have come in the last two meets. Cummings is the
only one in the field with 5 throws over 150'. White has a pair of throws over 150'. Miller
has four throws over 145'. Wingler has three throws over 145'. Mines is the only other
thrower with multiple throws over 140'. Keyder Woodock and Justin Bailey each have a pair
of throws over 139'

High Point Predictions
1. Jacob Burcham	Cabell Midland 26.50
2. Brandon Doughty	Jefferson 24
3. Daniel Brown	Huntington 22.50
3. Khiry Timbers	Martinsburg 22.50
3. Chris Deaner	Hedgesville 22.50
