Class A Boys Individual Event Predictions
100 M 1. Kyle Davies St. Marys
2. Jimmy Deter Madonna
3. Austin Williams Williamstown
4. Casey Pingley Valley Wetzel
5. Adam Kerns Williamstown
6. Logan Coplin St. Marys
This is ugly. Davies and Deter are the only ones to have bone under 11.60. Davies has done
it three times, and Deter has done it twice. Williams is the only other one to have done under
11.70 more than once. Pingley has three of 11.75 or better and finished 4th last year. Kerns
has the next best series. Coplin has a better top time than Kerns, but his 2nd best run is
just 11.92.
200 M 1. Kyle Davies St. Marys
2. Adam Kerns Williamstown
3. Tanner Graham Pocahontas
4. Ronald Swaniger Clay-Battelle
5. Matt Moore Buffalo
6. Terrell Hill Gilmer
Davies has the top time by over 0.3 seconds. He has three runs at least as good as anyone
else's best. He's one of two in the field with five runs under 24 seconds. Kerns has three
runs that are better than anyone else's best. Graham joins Davies as the other one to have
five runs under 24 seconds. Swaniger has three runs under 24 seconds. Moore and Hill each
have a pair of runs under 24.
400 M 1. Kyle Davies St. Marys
2. Tanner Graham Pocahontas
3. Eric Hamilton St. Marys
4. Seth Ritchie Charleston Catholic
5. Will Dobbins Charleston Catholic
6. Adam Kerns Williamstown
Davies has the top time in the field by nearly 0.7 seconds. He's the only one to have been
under 52 seconds, and he's done it three times. Graham has the next best top time and has
three runs under 53 seconds. Hamilton ran poorly at his regional, but it was still good
enough to get him in the fast heat. He has the 3rd best top time and is the only remaining
competitor to have a pair of runs under 53 seconds. Ritchie is the only other competitor
to have gone under 53. Dobbins has the next best time and actually has four runs better
than anyone else's best. Kerns is the only other competitor with a pair of runs under
54 seconds.
800 M 1. Derrick Chaffin Richwood
2. Eric Hamilton St. Marys
3. Seth Ritchie Charleston Catholic
4. Kyle James Mount Hope
5. Abram Rittenhouse Pocahontas
6. Cyrus Hajiran Wheeling Central
Chaffin is the defending champion and is one of two to have gone under 2:03. Hamilton is
the other to have gone under 2:03 and got 3rd last year. Ritchie is the only one in the
field to have five runs under 2:05, and he was the runner-up last year. James is the only
other competitor to have run under 2:04, and he was 4th in the event two years ago before
sitting out last season. Rittenhouse is the only over competitor to have gone under 2:05
and he's done it four times. Hajiran is the only other competitor to have gone under 2:07
and he's done it twice.
1600 M 1. Derrick Chaffin Richwood
2. Abram Rittenhouse Pocahontas
3. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
4. Tanner Mattie Doddridge
5. Derek Bayless St. Marys
6. Mitch Waggoner Williamstown
Chaffin and Rittenhouse should be a great race. Chaffin is the defending champion and has
the best top time. Rittenhouse actually has a slightly better series, but when they've run
head-to-head, Chaffin has come out on top, though always by very slight margins. Shaffer's
five best times are all better than anyone else's best. Mattie is the only other one to
have been under 4:45 and the only other one to have been under 4:50 more than once. Bayless
and Waggoner are close, but Bayless took the Conference and Regional battles. These six
have been under 4:50. No one else has.
3200 M 1. Abram Rittenhouse Pocahontas
2. Andrew Shaffer Richwood
3. Tanner Mattie Doddridge
4. Derrick Chaffin Richwood
5. David Rhodes Tucker
6. Austin Chambers Cameron
Rittenhouse and Shaffer have gone under 10:00. Shaffer clearly has the best series.
Rittenhouse won the Regional battle. Shaffer won the conference battle. Rittenhouse is the
defending champion and has excellent closing speed. Mattie has the next best time and is
the only other one in the field to have gone under 10:30 more than once. Chaffin only has
the 8th best time in the field, but he runs a 4:32 1600 and was 3rd in the State Cross Country
meet. I have a fear that he might just go out and win this event, so I couldn't very well
leave him out. Rhodes has a 10:23, but his send best run is a 10:47. Chambers gets the
nod over Caleb Moore due to the Regional victory in that battle. Chambers, Moore, and
Jordan Whitehair are the only other runners to have gone under 10:40 twice. A.J. Laska
and Alec Statler have gone under 10:40 once. Evan Childers has only run the event one time,
and it was a 10:40 at the Regional, so who knows what might happen there.
110 HH 1. Zach Holden Doddridge
2. Ryan Jones Bishop Donahue
3. Dylan Opyoke Clay-Battelle
4. Brett Wright St. Marys
5. Ronnie Baker Charleston Catholic
6. George Maddox East Hardy
Holden has five runs that are at least equal to anyone else's best. Jones is the only other
one in the field with multiple runs under 16 seconds, and he has five of them. Opyoke is
the only other one to have gone under 16 seconds and beat Jones at the Regional. Wright has
the next best series with 3 runs under 16.30. Baker has a better top time than Wright, but
his series isn't quite as strong and Wright won the regional matchup. Maddox has a pair of runs
under 16.70, giving him a slight edge over Daniel Plaugher for the last spot.
300 IH 1. Zach Holden Doddridge
2. Matt Moore Buffalo
3. George Maddox East Hardy
4. David Taylor Richwood
5. Dylan McNutt Williamstown
6. Devonte Pettit Meadow Bridge
Holden has the top time in the field and is the only one to have gone under 42 seconds three
times. Moore has four runs under 43 seconds. Maddox has a pair of runs under 43 seconds.
Taylor has one run under 43 seconds and five under 44. McNutt actually has the 2nd best
top time and the 2nd best series. However, his five best runs all occured 4/13 or earlier,
and he was only 45.05 at the Regional Meet. Pettit is the only other competitor to have gone
under 43 seconds.
4x100 M 1. Williamstown
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Valley Wetzel
4. Paden City
5. Madonna
6. Doddridge
Williamstown is the only team to have been under 45 seconds, and they've done it twice.
Charleston Catholic is the only other team to have been under 46 seconds, and they've done
it twice. Valley Wetzel gets the nod over Paden City due to the Regional victory, though
Paden City does have the better top time. Those four are the only ones to have gone under
47 seconds. Madonna and Doddridge have the next best series of times.
4x200 M 1. Charleston Catholic
2. Williamstown
3. Paden City
4. Valley Wetzel
5. Bishop Donahue
6. Clay-Battelle
Charleston Catholic and Williamstown are the only teams to have gone under 1:35. They're
actually the only teams to have gone under 1:36. Charelston Catholic has a slightly better
top time and a slightly better series and did squeak out the Regional victory. Paden City
gets the nod over Valley Wetzel based on Regional and Conference wins. Bishop Donahue
can probably add Ryan Jones to this unit and move up to 5th. Clay-Battelle will have to try
to hold off Pocahontas for the final spot. Pocahontas only qualified 16th, but they're
capable of cracking the top five if they load it.
4x400 M 1. Williamstown
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Pocahontas
4. St. Marys
5. Wheeling Central
6. Doddridge
I have Williamstown, Charleston Catholic, and Pocahontas all running between 3:35 and 3:37.
I think Williamstown has the most upside, so I'm giving them the nod. Charleston Catholic
gets the nod over Pocahontas because they've been closer to that time. Pocahontas only ran
3:50 at the Regional, and that lands them in the 1st heat. I don't think they'll have the
help they need to go faster than Williamstown or Charleston Catholic. St. Marys ran a 3:33
earlier in the season, but that was with Kyle Davies in the lineup. I don't think they'll
pull him from a likely 10 point individual event to run this. They'll have to fend off
Wheeling Central, Doddridge and Wirt for 4th.
4x800 M 1. St. Marys
2. Wheeling Central
3. Charleston Catholic
4. Buffalo
5. Williamstown
6. Doddridge
I think St. Marys is the team to beat here. I'm not sure anyone in the field can go under
8:30. I have St. Marys at about 8:31. I have Wheeling Central very close to that. After
that, it looks like a bunch of teams hovering between 8:43 and 8:52. I'm giving the nod
to Charleston Catholic over Buffalo because they beat them at the Regional. Williamstown
gets a slight nod over Doddridge. Wirt can also be a factor in this. Richwood could be a
bit of a darkhorse. I believe they can put together a unit that can run under 8:50. They
haven't done it all year, but I think it's there.
Shuttle 1. Doddridge
2. Wheeling Central
3. Bishop Donahue
4. Charleston Catholic
5. East Hardy
6. Buffalo
Doddridge has the only run under 61 seconds and is the only tiem with three runs under 62
seconds. Wheeling Central is the only other team with a pair of runs under 62. Bishop
Donahue also has a run under 62 seconds and beat Wheeling Central at the Regional. Charleston
Catholic is the only other team to have run under 62 seconds. East Hardy is the only other
team to have gone under 63 seconds. Buffalo is the only other team to have gone under 64
seconds.
H Jump 1. Isaac Gains South Harrison
2. Brett Wright St. Marys
3. John Belancic Wheeling Central
4. Anthony Aviles Gilmer
5. Joel Roberts Gilmer
6. Kyle James Mount Hope
Gains is the only jumper with a 6'4 jump this season, though it came on March 27. He also
has four total jumps of 6'2 or better while no one else has more than two. Wright has a pair
of 6'2 jumps. Belancic has one 6'2 jump and two 6'0 jumps. Aviles and Roberts each have
a pair of 6'0 jumps. James has a 6'0 jump as does Tyler Allen, but Allen's 6'0 jump came in
March.
P Vault 1. Cam Kinder Gilmer
2. Mat Looney Williamstown
3. Keiffer Reed Charleston Catholic
4. Logan Coplin St. Marys
5. Alex Marchetti Williamstown
6. Tyler George Williamstown
Kinder is the only one in the field with more than one 13'0 vault, and he has at least five.
Looney has a 13'0 vault and a pair of 12'6 vaults. Reed has a 13'0 vault and a 12'0 vault.
Coplin has a 12'6 vault and a pair of 12'0 vaults. Marchetti is one of three vaulters to have
five 12'0 vaults. George has a pair of 12'0 vaults and three 11'6 vaults. Daniel Scott has a
12'3 vault, but just one 11'6 vault to go with it. Those two vaults have come in the last
two meets, so he's definitely a threat.
L Jump 1. Kyle Davies St. Marys
2. George Maddox East Hardy
3. Andrew Humphrey Mount Hope
4. Isaac Anderson Paden City
5. Taylor Warren East Hardy
6. Matthew White Valley Fayette
Only three jumpers have topped 20'. No one has done it more than once. Davies has a pair
over 19'6. Maddox has four over 19'. Humphrey is the only one with five over 19'. Anderson
has a 20' jump and another over 19'. Warren and White each have one over 19' and one over

5. Evan Rose Pocahontas
6. Steward Lane Williamstown
Schneid is the only one to have topped 150', and he's done it twice. He has four throws
over 145', while no one else has reached that distance. Elliott is the only other thrower
to have topped 140' more than once, and he's done it three times. Puckett is the only other
thrower to have topped 140', and he has a pair of 139' throws to accompany it. Jones has
the next best top throw and four over 130'. Rose has three over 130'. Lane Has the next
best series, though Adam Buscher has a better top throw than Rose or Lane.
