100 M 1. Jackie Riggleman Moorefield
2. Randi Jenkins East Hardy
3. Brittany Wilson St. Marys
4. Kirsten Mullins Charleston Catholic
5. Marrah Porter Meadow Bridge
6. Bobbi Dyer Valley Fayette
Riggleman is the defending champion in the event. She looked very good at her regional.
Jenkins, however, did beat Riggleman at the Regional and has the only run under 13 seconds
in the field. Her series nearly as good as anyone else in the top 4, though. Wilson
knocked off Mullins at the Regional and has the best overall series of times. Mullins was
2nd in the event last year and has the 2nd best series of times. She has five runs of
13.18 or better, but none haster than 13.10. Any of these four winning would not be a
surprise at all. I only have two meets on record for Porter, but she did win her Region,
and all three times I have for her are solid FAT times. Dyer has a better top time than
Porter and a better overall series. Meadow Bridge's Chandra Church finished 3rd last
year, but her Regional runs were the only times I've seen her all season. Both Porter
and Dyer beat her at the Regional, but she could definitely slip in for a spot. Wheeling
Central's Gabby Dean and williamstown's Kyle Hammer are the others most likely to get in.
200 M 1. Kirsten Mullins Charleston Catholic
2. Randi Jenkins East Hardy
3. Lydia Powell St. Marys
4. Jackie Riggleman Moorefield
5. Kristen Saggio Madonna
6. Rebecca Miller St. Marys
Mullins has the best series in the group and is tied for the best top time with Jenkins.
Jenkins hadn't run under 28 that I'd seen all season long until the Regional, at which she
dropped two very good times. Only Mullins and Jenkins have run under 27 seconds. Powell
is the defending champion and looked very good at her regional. Riggleman was a little
faster than Powell at their respective Regional Meets, but Powell has a better series.
Saggio is the only other runner to have gone under 28 seconds more than twice, adn she's
been there four times. Miller is the only other one to have gone under 28 seconds twice.
South Harrison's Gretchen Lantz placed 3rd in the event last year and could easily get
into a scoring spot again. Also watch for Williamson's Shareekuah Jones and Meadow
Bridge's Marrah Porter.
400 M 1. Lydia Powell St. Marys
2. Gretchen Lantz South Harrison
3. Ali Johnson St. Marys
4. Adrienne Nottingham Pocahontas
5. Kirsten Mullins Charleston Catholic
6. Shareekuah Jones Williamson
Powell was 2nd in the event last year, has the top time, and is the only one to have gone
under 62 seconds twice. Lantz was 3rd last year, has the 2nd best top time, and has a
pair of times that are under 62.2. Johnson has only run the event twice, but one of them
was under 62. Nottingham is the two-time defending champion, so she has to be considered
a threat. She hasn't run under 62, but she does have three runs under 63, which no one
else can say. Mullinsis the only other one to have been under 63. Jones has only run
the event twice that I've seen, but both have been under 63.5. East Hardy's Alishia
Crawford and Charleston Catholic's Taylor Deer are the most likely to steal a spot.
800 M 1. Jennifer McFarland St. Marys
2. Kelley Mortakis Wheeling Central
3. Jessie John Wheeling Central
4. Beverly Knight St. Marys
5. Amanda Johns Charleston Catholic
6. Bethany Carroll Doddridge
McFarland is the defending champion and is the only one in the field with multiple runs
under 2:30. She's been under 2:28 three times, and no one else has been under 2:29.
Mortakis was 2nd last year and has a pair of runs under 2:34. John is the only other
one in the field to have gone under 2:30. Knight has a pair of runs under 2:34. Johns
was 3rd last year and has the next best top time. Carroll has more runs under 2:36 than
anyone in the field except McFarland, but she has none under 2:34. Charleston Catholic's
Donovan reed was 5th last year and could easily take a spot this year as well. Pocahontas'
Melody Walkup and Wheeling Central's Maddie Dean could be factors as well.
1600 M 1. Jennifer McFarland St. Marys
2. Beverly Knight St. Marys
3. Kelley Mortakis Wheeling Central
4. Bethany Carroll Doddridge
5. Jessie John Wheeling Central
6. Claire Caruso Wheeling Central
McFarland is the defending champion and has the best time in the field. Knight is the
only one to have been under 5:40 more than once, and she's done it four times. Mortakis
is the only other one in the field to have gone under 5:40. Carroll has four runs under
5:50, which only she and Knight can say. John's top time is just off Carroll's and has
two other runs under 6:00. Caruso has a sub5:50 run and another under 6:00. Moorefield's
Blayke Hall and Williamstown's Emily Kittle could also take spots.
3200 M 1. Beverly Knight St. Marys
2. Kelley Mortakis Wheeling Central
3. Bethany Carroll Doddridge
4. Adalia Trudgeon Doddridge
5. Jessie John Wheeling Central
6. Blayke Hall Moorefield
Knight is the only one with multiple runs under 12:20. She's done it three times. She
has four runs better than anyone else's 2nd best. Mortakis has the top time in the field,
but her 2nd best time is 21 seconds slower. Carroll has been under 12:40 four times
and under 12:30 twice. Trudgeon has a better top time than Carroll and two other runs
under 13:00. She also placed 4th last year. John has four runs under 12:50, but none
under 12:40. She did place 3rd last year, though. Hall has gone under 13:00 just once
but she is dangerous. St. Marys' Micalyn Miller and Williamstown's Emily Kittle have
also run under 13:00.
100 HH 1. Lacey Hampton Bishop Donahue
2. Keeper Gray Williamstown
3. Amanda Sellers Paden City
4. Malee McGill St. Marys
5. Andrea Joseph Charleston Catholic
6. Madison Postlewaite Williamstown
Hampton is the defending champion and has five runs that are better than anyone else's
best. Three of those runs are hand-times, though. Gray has run her top two times in
her last two meets. Sellers easily has the nexst best series with five runs better than
anyone else's best. McGill is the only other one to have been under 17 seconds. Joseph
Has the next best series with four runs under 17.5 while no one else remaining has more
than one. Postelwaite has the next best series, though Wheeling Central's Caitlyn
Tomczyk has a better top time. Meadow Bridge's Tanyetta Bragg, and Tucker's Bethany
Evans also look to steal a place.
300 LH 1. Ali Johnson St. Marys
2. Amanda Sellers Paden City
3. Gretchen Lantz South Harrison
4. Tanyetta Bragg Meadow Bridge
5. Madison Postlewaite Williamstown
6. Leanne Watson Clay-Battelle
Johnson has the top time and the most sub-50 runs in the field. Sellers was 2nd last
year and has the most sub-49 runs in the field. Lantz is the only other one in the
field to have gone under 50, and she went under 49. No one else has been under 51.7.
Bragg has a pair of runs under 52 and two more under 53, and she placed last year.
Postlewaite has a better top time than Bragg, but that came in March and she hasn't been
within 0.7 seconds of it since. She does have three runs in the 52's. Watson has
gone under 52 and has two others under 53. Doddridge's Hattie Hutson, Charleston
Catholic's Nicole Johns, and Pocahontas' Adrienne Nottingham are the most likely to
crash the lineup.
4x100 M 1. St. Marys
2. Williamstown
3. Paden City
4. Charleston Catholic
5. Madonna
6. Moorefield
St. Marys has the best time in the field by over 0.6 seconds. Williamstown has been under
54 seconds four times. Paden City has run under 54. Charleston Catholic had a faster
regional time than Paden City. Madonna ran to the wire with Paden City at the Regional.
Moorefield wasn't much slower than Paden City or Madonna at their Regional, and they
weren't pushed at all. Williamson has been under 55 twice and could definitely squeeze
into a scoring spot.
4x200 M 1. Williamstown
2. St. Marys
3. Williamson
4. Charleston Catholic
5. East Hardy
6. Wheeling Central
Williamstown and St. Marys should be very close. Williamstown won the Regional Meeting.
St. Marys won the Conference Meeting. Since Williamstown won the most recent and has
the best top time, they get the pick. Williamson is the only other team to have gone
under 1:55, and they've been under 1:54. Charleston Catholic is the only other team to
have gone under 1:56. East Hardy only has the 8th best top time, but the did it at
their Regional and weren't really pushed. Wheeling Central has a pair of runs faster
than what East Hardy has done. Gilmer and Clay-Battelle will fight for spots.
4x400 M 1. St. Marys
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Wheeling Central
4. Williamstown
5. Doddridge
6. East Hardy
St. Marys can run 4:18. If they really wanted to, they could put together a unit that
could run 4:08 or so. Charleston Catholic can run in the low 4:20's. Wheeling Central,
Williamstown, and Doddridge can all run in the mid 4:20's. Wheeling Central gets the
top spot mostly because they did beat Williamstown in the most recent head-to-head meeting.
Williamstown gets the nod over Doddridge beacuse they beat them at the Conference Meet.
East Hardy ran a solo 4:32 at their Regional meet, so you have to believe they can run
faster if pressed. Madonna is probably the most likely team to sneak in for a spot.
The darkhorse in this group is Pocahontas. Their best time is 5:01, but I think they
can put together a unit that could run in the 4:34 or maybe even 4:32.
4x800 M 1. St. Marys
2. Wheeling Central
3. Charleston Catholic
4. Williamstown
5. Doddridge
6. Cameron
St. Marys has already run 10:08. I'm not sure anyone else can get there. I think St.
Marys can go faster, and might be able to go under 10:00 is really pressed. I can
see Wheeling Central hitting in the 10:10 range, and I can see Charleston Catholic getting
down to 10:15 or so. Williamstown can probably get to the low 10:30's, but I have trouble
seeing them under 10:30. Doddridge can probably hit around 10:40. If they were to
put Bethany Carroll back into this unit, they could go in the 10:25 range. The battle
for the 6th spot should be fun. Four teams ran within 7 seconds of each other's Regional
times. Cameron was the fastest of those, so they get the nod. Wirt, Clay-Battelle,
and Pendleton are the others. And again, I think Pocahontas could be a dark-horse here.
I believe than can go under 11:20, but I don't know if they can get down to 11:10.
Shuttle 1. Williamstown
2. Bishop Donahue
3. Paden City
4. St. Marys
5. Madonna
6. Charleston Catholic
Williamstown's best time is over 3 seconds ahead of anyone else. Their top five times
are better than anyone else's best. Bishop Donahue, Paden City, and St. Marys have run
under 1:11. Bishop Donahue has the best top time of the three. Paden City did beat
them at the Conference Meet, but Bishop won the Regional battle. St. Marys' Regional
run was their first under 1:12. The top times for these three are separated by just 0.19
seconds. Madonna and Charleston Catholic have top times that are over a second ahead
of anyone else. Madonna has gone a little faster, so they get the nod for 5th.
L Jump 1. Ali Johnson St. Marys
2. Catherine Butcher Gilmer
3. Gretchen Lantz South Harrison
4. Megan Roberts Williamstown
5. Sasha Newson Paden City
6. Jessica Montgomery Gilmer
Johnson has four jumps of 16' or better including her 17'1 Regional jump. Butcher is the
defending champion and has a pair of 16' jumps. Lantz has a 16' jump and at leat four
others over 15'. Roberts placed 2nd last year and has give jumps of at least 15'. The
front four all have five jumps of 15' or better. No one else in the field has more than
one. Newson placed last year and had her only 15' jump at the Regional Meet. Montgomery
has the next best series. Meadow Bridge's Tanyetta Bragg has the only other 15' jump in
the field, and she did it at the Regional Meet.
H Jump 1. Catherine Butcher Gilmer
2. Lacey Hampton Bishop Donahue
3. Jaime Hanlin Union
4. Taylor Pickens St. Marys
5. Tristin Willey Valley Wetzel
6. Ciara Riggleman Tygarts Valley
Butcher has the best series in the field. She's the only one to have a pair of 5'0 jumps
and is the only one to have gone higher than 5'0 with her 5'1 jump. That 5'1 jump came
in March, though. Three of Butcher's top four jumps have been in her last three meets.
Hampton is the defending champion, has a 5'0 jump and is one of three in the field with
at least five 4'10 jumps. Hanlin was the only jumper to hit 5'0 at her Regional. The
has a pair of 4'10 jumps to go along with it. Pickens is the third one with five 4'10
jumps, but only one of them has occurred in May. Willey cleared 4'10 at her Regional
and beat Hampton in the process. Riggleman placed 4th last year and cleared 4'10 at her
Regional Meet. St. Marys' Cassie Shreves and Williamstown's Liz Flowers are the only
other jumpers to have cleared 4'10 this season. Flowers has actually topped 5'0 but
she hasn't been higher than 4'6 since that 5'0 jump on April 4th.
Shot 1. Cindy Hillberry Mount Hope
2. Melanie Reynolds Union
3. Tiffany Sigler St. Marys
4. Angelica King East Hardy
5. Ashley Sigler St. Marys
6. Ali Flowers Williamstown
Hillberry is the defending champion and has a pair of 40' throws and five over 38'. No
one else has topped 38' more than once. Reynolds has a 38' throw and a pair over 37', so
Hillberry can't afford to be off by much. Tiffany Sigler has three throws over 36' and
placed 3rd last year. King has a pair of throws over 35', had the 3rd best Regional
throw in the bunch, and was 2nd last year. Ashley Sigler has the next best top throw,
and her top two throws have occurred in her last two meets. Flowers actually has a better
series than Sigler with five throws over 33' while Sigler just has two. Sigler won the
Conference and Regional battles, though.
Discus 1. Cindy Hillberry Mount Hope
2. Ashley Sigler St. Marys
3. Heather Brown Doddridge
4. Ali Flowers Williamstown
5. Tiffany Sigler St. Marys
6. Chandra Dunn Cameron
Hillberry is the defending champion and has a top throw that is nearly 14' better than
anyone else's best. Her 5th best throw is over 9' better than anyone else's best.
Ashley Sigler is the only other thrower to have gone over 100'. She has three throws
of over 95'. Brown has three throws over 93' and five over 90'. Flowers also has five
over 90' but her top throw is only equivalent to Brown's 3rd best. Tiffany Sigler is
the only other one in the field to have topped 90', adn she's done it three times. Dunn
has a pair of throws over 85'. Williamstown's Hunter House just missed 90' at her
Regional Meet, but that was the only time I've seen her over 80' all season.
P Vault 1. Madison Postlewaite Williamstown
2. Liz Flowers Williamstown
3. Emily Sherrard Charleston Catholic
4. KayCee Hill Doddridge
5. Ciara Kobasko Bishop Donahue
6. Janice Miracle Doddridge
Postlewaite is the only one in the field to have cleared 9'6, and she's done it at least
five times. However, she hasn't cleared that height since April 14th. Flowers has four
vaults of 9'0 and beat Postlewaite at the Regional Meet. Sherrerd is the only other one
to have cleared 8'0, and she's done it twice. Hill is the only other one to have cleared
7'6, and she's done it three times. Kobasko and Miracle each have cleared 7'0 twice, but
Kobasko won the Regional meeting on misses, so she gets the nod. Buffalo's Emily Moore
and Doddridge's Kelsie Marple have both cleared 6'6 more than once and will hope someone
else falters.
