Individual Predictions

100 M	1. Valarie Jasper	Fairmont Senior
	2. Brittany Carr	Jefferson
	3. Kylie Beabout	University
	4. Chelsey Flinchum	Jefferson
	5. Alaina Pletcher	Musselman
	6. Daytona Maher	Hampshire
What a mess. You might as well throw some names in a hat and draw them out randomly. I'm
going with Jasper because she always steps it up in a big way at the State Meet. Carr was
only second in her region, but she did win the event last year. Beabout looked very good
at the Gazette Relays. Flinchum won her region and has the best electronic time in the
field. Pletcher and Maher both have hand times that convert to faster FAT equivalents than
Flinchum's time. Wheeling Park's Dayshala Bell and South Charleston's Nicole Hill are the
most likely to crack the lineup.

200 M	1. Alaina Pletcher	Musselman
	2. Ashley White	Buckhannon-Upshur
	3. Chelsey Flinchum	Jefferson
	4. Brittany Carey	Hurricane
	5. Daytona Maher	Hampshire
	6. Nicole Hill South Charleston
I thought the 100 was a mess until I looked at this. The problem is that there's no distinct
pecking order in the Eastern Panhandle. You might finish 1st one meet and 3rd or 4th the
next. The consistency to make a pick I feel solidly about just isn't there. I've changed
this about half a dozen times already. I actually feel like seven girls could win this
event. I ended up going with Pletcher because of the combination of series and a strong
regional run. White has the best overall series, and I had picked her initially, but she
did only finish 4th in her regional. Flinchum actually has the best top time of the group,
which she ran in the trials at her regional. It's the only sub-26 run in the field. Carey
has the second best top time with her 26.09 conference meet run. Maher won her region and
has a solid series, but three of her top times are hand conversions. Hill clocked a 26.12
at her conference meet and has a solid series of electronic times behind it. Brittany Carr
is very much in the mix and could easily place.

400 M	1. Josie Crouch	Hurricane
	2. Savannah Rutherford	Spring Valley
	3. Danielle Winningham	Cabell Midland
	4. Nicole Himes	Jefferson
	5. Alaina Pletcher	Musselman
	6. Molly Harrington	Huntington
Crouch has been dominant in this event thus far. She's not out of reach but is a definite
favorite. Her fifth best time is better than anyone else's second best. Rutherford has the
second best top time and has beaten Winningham in three straight meetings. Despite that,
Winningham does actually have a better series. These three are the only ones to have been
under 60 seconds, and they've each been under 59. Himes has the next best series and is the
only other runner to have been under 61 seconds. Pletcher has the next best series of times
and placed last year. Harrington is the only other one in the field to have been under 62
seconds more than once. Fairmont Senior's Jenai Stubbs has also gone under 62 and is a
threat as is John Marshall's Julie Young who placed 4th in the event last year.

800 M	1. Josie Crouch	Hurricane
	2. Jennifer van der Sloot University
	3. Savannah Rutherford	Spring Valley
	4. Tor Boggs Parkersburg
	5. Courtney Yaeger	Wheeling Park
	6. Letitia Propst	Elkins
Crouch is solidly the favorite in this event as well. Her top time is two seconds faster
than anyone else. van der Sloot exploded onto the scene with a very impressive run at the
Gazette Relays and has backed it up with two more very solid runs since. I went with
Rutherford over Boggs simply because I haven't seen enough of Boggs to know if she can back
up her stellar regional performance, plus I like her finishing speed. Yaeger has more sub
2:30 runs than anyone than Crouch and she went 2:21 at the State Meet last year. Propst
has a better top time and series than Yaeger. It could easily be argued for her to be
picked 3rd. Morgantown's Aubrey Moskal and Ripley's Parker Winters are the only other
competitors to have been under 2:25.

1600 M	1. Courtney Yaeger	Wheeling Park
	2. Jordan Hamric	Preston
	3. Alex Dent Hurricane
	4. Ari Kasprowicz	Preston
	5. Hallie Portner	University
	6. Jennifer Sirockman	University
Yaeger has two runs that are five seconds better than anyone else's best. She also has four
runs under 5:20 while no one else has more than two. Hamric only has the 4th best top time
and only one run under 5:20, but she does seem to perform well at the State Meet and
generally has a great finish. Dent has a pair of 5:15 runs, but they both happened mid-
April and before. Kasprowicz has a pair of runs of runs under 5:20. Portner has the only
other run under 5:20. Sirockman is the only other runner with more than one run under 5:30.
Preston's Ashley Teets has a better top time than Sirockman and is definitely a threat to
place.

3200 M	1. Jordan Hamric	Preston
	2. Courtney Yaeger	Wheeling Park
	3. Hallie Portner	University
	4. Ashley Teets	Preston
	5. Letitia Propst	Elkins
	6. Alex Dent Hurricane
Hamric is the defending champion, has the top time in the field, and looked very good running away
from the competition at the Gazette Relays. Yaeger has the best set of top three times and
the second best top time. Portner is the only other runner to have been under 11:20 and has
a pair of low 11:30's to go with it. Teets has a pair of runs under 11:30. Propst doesn't
have the next best top time or the next best series, but after her performance at the State
Cross Country Meet, I have to believe there's more there. Dent has three runs under 11:30
and the 5th best top time in the field. North Marion's Jordan McDonald, Capital's Chelsea
Jarvis, Cabell Midland's Rachel Williams, Morgantown's Emma Berry, and University's Lindsay
Wyatt each have multiple runs under 12:00.

100 HH	1. Alexis Shearer	Nicholas
	2. Kelsey Watkins	Parkersburg South
	3. Lauren Asbury	Greenbrier East
	4. Jeanne Jendras	Hampshire
	5. Katie Rude Hedgesville
	6. Bailey Rhodes	George Washington
Shearer has more sub-16 runs than anyone else with three, and they've all come in her last
two meets. Watkins has the best top time in the field but that happened in March, and she
hadn't even remotely approached that time again until the regional meet. Asbury has the
next best series of times. Jendras has a slightly better series than Rude and a better top
time. Rude, though, does have the best electronic time and won the regional battle. Rhodes
has the next best series. Martinsburg's Iesha Robinson is the most likely to sneak in for
a place.

300 LH	1. Julie Young John Marshall
	2. Danielle Winningham	Cabell Midland
	3. Bailey Rhodes	George Washington
	4. Samantha Jendras	Hampshire
	5. Miranda Rios	Wheeling Park
	6. Jeanne Jendras	Hampshire
Young has the top time in the field and scored a second last year. Winningham has a pair
of runs under 47.5 and won her regional battle over Rhodes. Rhodes has the 2nd best top
time and actually has the best overall series of times. S.Jendras has the next best top
time and placed 3rd last year. Rios has a better series than Jendras and has more runs
under 49 than anyone in the field. J.Jendras has a top time that is better than Rios and
placed 4th last year. Buckhannon-Upshur's Susie Godwin and Parkersburg South's Kelsey
Watkins both have multiple runs under 49 seconds, as does Jefferson's Kara McLaughlin.

4x100 M	1. Wheeling Park
	2. Jefferson
	3. Woodrow Wilson
	4. Martinsburg
	5. Hurricane
	6. Hampshire
Wheeling Park has three runs that are at least 0.45 better than anyone else's best time.
Jefferson is the only other team to have run under 51 seconds, and they have five runs
under 51.4. Woodrow Wilson has a pair of runs under 51.3. No one else has been under
51.9. Martinsburg ran under 52 at their regional meet. Hurricane has a pair of runs
under 52.2 but will have to make their run from the first heat, which could put them
at a disadvantage. Hampshire has three runs under 53 seconds and ran their best time at
their regional meet. Capital, Fairmont Senior, and John Marshall have all run under 53.

4x200 M	1. Wheeling Park
	2. Jefferson
	3. Woodrow Wilson
	4. Hurricane
	5. Fairmont Senior
	6. Cabell Midland
Wheeling Park is the only team to have run under 1:47, and they've done it twice. Jefferson
is the only other team to have run under 1:48.5, and they've clocked a 1:47.08. This should
be a two team race. Woodrow Wilson has the next best top time and has three runs under 1:50.
Hurricane has a pair of runs under 1:50 but will be running in lane eight which could be
a hindrance. Fairmont Senior had a faster regional time than Woodrow or Hurricane and could
move up. Cabell Midland has the next best time. Nicholas and John Marshall could get in.

4x400 M	1. Cabell Midland
	2. Buckhannon-Upshur
	3. Hurricane
	4. Parkersburg
	5. Hampshire
	6. Jefferson
Cabell Midland has the top time coming in. I have trouble seeing them go much faster, but
it should be enough. I think Buckhannon-Upshur can also run a 4:08, so they could possibly
get by Midland. I think Hurricane can put go under 4:10. Parkersburg looks like they can
run around a 4:10. These four seem like they're out front a bit on the rest of the field.
I think Hampshire and Jefferson can both put together lineups that can run 4:16 or so.
Elkins, North Marion, and Woodrow Wilson can all go around 4:18 and could move into the
scoring in this event.

4x800 M	1. Hurricane
	2. University
	3. Parkersburg
	4. Ripley
	5. Preston
	6. North Marion
Hurricane has four runs under 10:00. They have two faster than anyone else's best. And, I
think they can hit in the 9:43 range if necessary. I think University can go under 9:50.
Parkersburg may be able to go under 9:50, but I just feel like University has more upward
potential. I believe that Ripley, Preston, and North Marion can all run under 10:00. I
don't have anyone else running under 10:07.

Shuttle	1. Wheeling Park
	2. John Marshall
	3. Greenbrier East
	4. Martinsburg
	5. Cabell Midland
	6. Parkersburg South
Wheeling Park has three runs under 1:06 while no one else has done it more than once. They
also have the only run under 1:05. John Marshall was within a tenth of them at the regional
meet. Greenbrier East is the only other team to have run under 1:06 and has a better overall
series than John Marshall. Martinsburg has the next best series and ran under 1:07 at their
regional. Cabell Midland has the next best series and was just over 1:07 at their regional.
Parkersburg South ran under 1:07 in April, but was slow enough at their regional that they'll
be running in the 2nd of four heats. Parkersburg, Hurricane, Hampshire, Jefferson, and
George Washington have each run under 1:08 this season.

L Jump	1. Brittany Pratt	George Washington
	2. Kelsey Watkins	Parkersburg South
	3. Lauren Williams	Jefferson
	4. Diana Richards	John Marshall
	5. Julie DeStefano	Brooke
	6. Talequia Hamilton	Huntington
Pratt is the only jumper with more than one 16' jump and she has at least five of them.
Watkins has a 16'5 jump and three others that are at least 15'6. Williams has the next
best series. Richards has a 16' jump to her credit and a series that is about the same
as Williams, but she only jumped 14'6 at her regional meet. DeStefano has three jumps
over 15' and won her regional, which included Richards. Hamilton has a 16' jump, and it
did occur at her Regional meet. However, the only other jump she has in the database is
a 14'11. There are plenty of placing threats in the remainder of the field. Buckhannon-
Upshur's Marissa Wright and Greenbrier East's Ali Curry each have five jumps of at least
15', which can only be said by two of the placers. Woodrow Wilson's Adrienne Stover has
four 15' jumps, and teammate Michelle Oye went 15'11 1/2 at her regional.

H Jump	1. Kendall McCaugherty	Bridgeport
	2. Kalee Trippett	Bridgeport
	3. Ali Curry Greenbrier East
	4. Megan Warner	Elkins
	5. Ashley Hall Buckhannon-Upshur
	6. Erin Dansey Parkersburg
Despite battling injury, McCaughert has four leaps higher than anyone else's best. Trippett
has a 5'3, a 5'2, a 5'1, and at least a pair of 5'0 jumps to her credit. Curry has a 5'2,
a 5'1 and at least three 5'0 jumps. Warner has a 5'2 and at least four 5'0 jumps and was a
high placer last year. Hall has a 5'2 and a pair of 5'0 jumps. Dansey has a 5'2 and a 5'0.
Capital's Melanie Perry and Greenbrier East's Emily Cline have also cleared 5'0 on the season.

Shot	1. Christy Austin	Hurricane
	2. Sammie Hicks	Parkersburg South
	3. Elsie Smith Preston
	4. Karissa Knabenshue	Buckhannon-Upshur
	5. Daphne Parks	Lewis
	6. Miranda Hicks	Martinsburg
Austin has the only 40' throw in the field and has at least 5 throws that match anyone else's
best. Hicks has four throws better than any of the remaining competitor's best. Smith has
at least five throws of 35'. Knabenshue has the next best series with three throws over
34'. Parks has a pair of 34' throws, and they've occurred in her last two meets. She also
beat Knabenshue at their regional. Hicks also has a pair of 34' throws. Marintsburg's
Iesha Robinson and Hurricane's Megan Turley have also surpassed 34' on the season.

Discus	1. Shannon Hooper	Capital
	2. Miranda Hicks	Martinsburg
	3. Christy Austin	Hurricane
	4. Susie Godwin	Buckhannon-Upshur
	5. Karissa Knabenshue	Buckhannon-Upshur
	6. Kerryn Low Jefferson
Hooper has a pair of throws over 120' and the best overall series in the group. Hicks has
the best top throw and is the only thrower to have surpassed 130'. Austin has four throws
over 110'. Godwin has a pair of throws over 110' and five over 107'. Knabenshue has three
throws over 105' and beat Godwin at the Regional. Low has a pair of throws over 107'.
Parkersburg's Megan Ayers has thrown over 110' and could be a threat. Lewis' Danphe Parks
has topped 105' three times and could also be a factor.

P Vault	1. Caitlin Meeks	Parkersburg
	2. Jami Fonner John Marshall
	3. Brittany Pratt	George Washington
	4. Megan Loughry	Hurricane
	5. Destiny Brindle	Hedgesville
	6. Savana Whiting	Ripley
Meeks is the only one in the field to have topped 10' twice. Fonner has a 10' vault and
at least four others of 9'6. Pratt has a 10' vault and three 9'0 vaults. Loughry has a
9'6 and a pair of 9'0 vaults. Brindle has four vaults of 8'6. Whiting has a 9'0 vault
to her credit, but has only an 8'6 and 8'1 to go with it.
