Class AA Boys Individual Event Predictions

100 M	1. Bernardo Caputo	Point Pleasant
	2. David Wiley Chapmanville
	3. Rodney Endicott	Wayne
	4. Turquan Casey	Bluefield
	5. Allen Wasonga	Point Pleasant
	6. Ansel Ponder	Bluefield
Caputo doesn't have the best time but does have the best series. He was very impressive at
the Gazette Relays and backed that performance up at his regional meet. Wiley has the best
top time in the group and is definitely a threat to win the event. Endicott won the event
last year and cannot be taken lightly. Casey had a pair of strong times at his regional.
Wasonga has a better series than Casey and could move up. Ponder has the next best
electronic time in the group. There are about 11 guys that I can see placing in this event.

200 M	1. Bernardo Caputo	Point Pleasant
	2. Rodney Endicott	Wayne
	3. Cameron Brown	Weir
	4. Drake Compton	Oak Glen
	5. Tim Patterson	Oak Hill
	6. Sami Hart Sissonville
Caputo really looks to be well in front of the group. His top two times are three tenths
faster than anyone else's best. Endicott doesn't have the next best time, but he does
have the next best series and won the event last year. Brown has the second best top time
and the third best series. Compton has a solid series but hasn't really shown the top end
of some of the other competitors, but he did place a year ago. Patterson placed a year ago
and has a couple runs under 23 seconds, but they happened in early April and in March. Hart
has five runs between 22.98 and 23.17. There are several others that could snare a spot
in this event as well with Braxton's Kevin Tanner and Bluefield's Ansel Ponder being the
most likely to slip in.

400 M	1. Josh Webb Weir
	2. Drake Compton	Oak Glen
	3. Luke Seavy Magnolia
	4. Sami Hart Sissonville
	5. Griff Halstead	Oak Glen
	6. Gene Hamrick	Liberty Harrison
The top three have all run under 50.5 and their regional times were within 0.05 of each other
at their regional meet. Webb won that battle and has the best overall series. Compton
finished second in that battle and has three runs under 51 seconds. Seavy finished third
in that battle, but does have the fastest top time of the group. Hart is the only other
competitor in the group to go under 51, and he's done it twice. Halstead has four runs
under 53 seconds and the best overall series. Hamrick is the only other runner to have
run under 52 seconds and has three runs under 53.

800 M	1. Luke Seavy Magnolia
	2. Lenny Roach Berkeley Springs
	3. Nathan Rees Ravenswood
	4. T.J. Abel Grafton
	5. Griff Halstead	Oak Glen
	6. Skyler McCoy	Webster
Seavy has the best time in the group by over 2 seconds. Roach has the next best series of
times and the next best top time. Rees has only two recorded open 800's on the season, but
one of them was his sub-2:00 run. He ran 2:03 at his regional. Abel has the next best
series with his best five runs all being under 2:03. Halstead beat Rees at the Regional
and placed in the event last year. Abel and Halstead could benefit from Roach, Rees, McCoy,
and Stewart Jones having run the 1600 earlier. McCoy has a run under 2:00, so he's
definitely a threat to move up. However, his second best time is only 2:06, so he's also
a threat to move down. Weir's Stewart Jones could very easily find his way in.

1600 M	1. Stewart Jones	Weir
	2. Lenny Roach Berkeley Springs
	3. Nathan Rees Ravenswood
	4. Skyler McCoy	Webster
	5. Ben Wise Ravenswood
	6. Nick Lucento	Shady Spring
Jones has the top time in the group by over four seconds and easily the best series overall.
Roach and Rees have gone under 4:30, but Roach has a better second best time to back it up.
He also finished second in the event last year. Rees did edge Roach at the Gazette Relays.
McCoy doesn't have the next best time, but he does have the next best series and a lot of
upward potential. Wise and Lucento are very close across the board. Lucento did edge Wise
at the Gazette Relays, but Wise did pull a 4:31 at the State Meet last year.

3200 M	1. Stewart Jones	Weir
	2. Skyler McCoy	Webster
	3. Lenny Roach Berkeley Springs
	4. Nathan Rees Ravenswood
	5. Nick Lucento	Shady Spring
	6. Randy Price Roane
Jones is the only one with more than one run under 10:00. He has two runs faster than
anyone else's best, and his top time is 10 seconds ahead of anyone else. McCoy essentially
ran a solo 9:47 at the Gazette Relays, so he is a legitimate threat to take the event.
Rees has a better top time and a better series than Roach, but I have to look at how strong
Roach was in Cross Country and the fact that he ran 9:46 last year, and I think there's a
lot more there. So, Roach gets the nod for third over Rees. Lucento easily has the next
best series. Price gets the call for 6th based on his regional performance. Ritchie's
Jacob Lafferre could figure in has he has a pair of runs under 10:20.

110 HH	1. Christian Powers	Wifield
	2. Kevin Tanner	Braxton
	3. Caleb Martin	Winfield
	4. Sami Hart Sissonville
	5. Andy Rollins	Philip Barbour
	6. Derek Davis Roane
Powers is the only one in the field to have run under 15 seconds and he's done it at least
five times. Tanner has the next best series with his top two times coming in his last two
meets. Martin has the second best top time, but lost much of the season to appendicitis
(if my memory serves me correctly). He was solid at his regional and with another week
could possibly reclaim the second spot. Hart easily has the next best series with five
runs better than anyone else's best. Rollins has the next best series, just slightly
better than Davis.

300 IH	1. Christian Powers	Winfield
	2. Josh Szprykra	Oak Glen
	3. Kevin Tanner	Braxton
	4. Caleb Martin	Winfield
	5. Paul Truitt Berkeley Springs
	6. Alan Snodgrass	Ritchie
Powers has at least five runs better than anyone else's best and the only runs under 40
seconds. Szpyrka has a pair of runs under 41. Tanner has a run under 41 and four others
under 41.65. Martin had a pair of runs under 41 at the beginning of the season, but again
he's lost a lot of time. Truitt has a run under 41 and another in the low 41's. Snodgrass
has at least five runs under 42 with three of them being under 41.4. Webster's Chance
McCoy has a run under 41 to his credit but no others under 42.

4x100 M	1. Weir
	2. Oak Glen
	3. Point Pleasant
	4. Winfield
	5. Keyser
	6. Berkeley Springs
Weir has the best series of times and the top regional performance. Oak Glen has the next
best series. Point Pleasant has the best top time and could definitely take the event.
Winfield hs the next best series. Keyser has a better top time than Winfield, so they
could move up. Berkeley Springs has the next best series. Ritchie and Frankfort should
also be in the mix. I hate that Bluefield got disqualified at their regional because
that's a group that I was looking forward to seeing get in the mix.

4x200 M	1. Oak Glen
	2. Keyser
	3. Point Pleasant
	4. Weir
	5. Bluefield
	6. Ritchie
Oak Glen has three runs under 1:32. No one else has been under 1:33. Keyser has the next
best top time and the next best series. Point Pleasant has the next best top time and the
next best series. Weir has the next best top time and the next best series. Bluefield
only has the 15th best time, but that was without Turquan Casey and Ansel Ponder. With
the disqualification of their 4x100, they could add those two to this unit and be a
contender. Ritchie has the next best top time, and they did it at their regional. Philip
Barbour and Ravenswood should be in the mix as well.

4x400 M	1. Ravenswood
	2. Weir
	3. Keyser
	4. Grafton
	5. Oak Glen
	6. Magnolia
Ravenswood and Weir have both run under 3:30 with Ravenswood having the edge and nipping
Weir at the Regional. Keyser has a pair of times better than Grafton's best, though
Grafton may have the potential to run faster. Oak Glen easily has the next best time.
Magnolia has gone under 3:35. No one else has gone under 3:38.

4x800 M	1. Ravenswood
	2. Grafton
	3. Ritchie
	4. Oak Glen
	5. Magnolia
	6. Berkeley Springs
Ravenswood appears to be far ahead of the field. They can probably go 8:12 or so but they
probably won't have to. I have trouble seeing anyone else running under 8:24. I think
Grafton can hit 8:24 or so. Ritchie and Oak Glen each have the potential to go under 8:30.
Magnolia has only run 8:41, but I think they can hit 8:32. I can see Berkeley Springs
putting together an 8:35 unit. Winfield, Keyser, and Shady Spring will also be in the
thick of things.

Shuttle	1. Keyser
	2. Winfield
	3. Philip Barbour
	4. Point Pleasant
	5. Ritchie
	6. Webster
Keyser had a phenomenal regional run that left them with the best time by 0.73 seconds.
Winfield is the only team with multiple runs under 60 seconds, and it wouldn't be much
of a surprise for them to take the event. I actually did have them winning it as I started
typing. Philip Barbour has three runs under 61. Point Pleasant has also gone under 61.
Ritchie has three runs under 1:03. Webster has a mid 61 to their credit but it happened
in early April. Shady Spring and Roane may squeeze into the placings.

L Jump	1. Cameron Brown	Weir
	2. Matt Ritchie	Oak Glen
	3. Matt Griffin	Liberty Harrison
	4. Michael Hunter	Philip Barbour
	5. Aaron Atkinson	Roane
	6. Ansel Ponder	Bluefield
Brown is the only jumper with more than one 21' jump, and he has three of them. Ritchie
has the next best top jump and the next best series. However, three of his five best
jumps came in early April. Griffin has the next best series and all his best jumps have
come since April 18th. Hunter has a series very similar to that of Griffin, but Griffin
beat him by nearly a foot at the regional. Atkinson has three jumps over 20'. Ponder has a
21' jump to his credit and another 20' jump, but he jumped less than 19' at his regional.
Keyser's Matt Wilmer is the only other competitor with multiple 20' jumps.

H Jump	1. Cody Schuler	Winfield
	2. Matt Ritchie	Oak Glen
	3. Jeremiah Coon	Roane
	4. Timmy Miller	Webster
	5. Joshua Howser	Frankfort
	6. Lucas Talerico	Lincoln
Schuler is the only one in the group to have gone higher than 6'2. He has a 6'3, and a pair
of 6'2 jumps on his resume. Ritchie has three 6'2 jumps and a pair of 6'0 jumps. Coon has
a 6'2, a 6'1, and a pair of 6'0 jumps. Miller has a 6'2 and a pair of 6'0 jumps. Howser
has a 6'1 and a pair of 6'0 jumps. Talerico and Ravenswood's Andrew Willis each have a pair
of 6'0 jumps to their credit. Talerico has a slightly better overall series, though, so
he gets the nod.

Shot	1. Eric Myers Sissonville
	2. John Hipes Point Pleasant
	3. Tyler Grant Point Pleasant
	4. Kevin Smith Keyser
	5. Kyle Smith Magnolia
	6. Dominick Cangemi	Liberty Raleigh
Myers is obviously the clear favorite. He has at least five throws over 56' while no one
else has topped 51'. Hipes is the only other thrower to have surpassed 47', and he has
a 50' toss and three 49's. Grant is the only other thrower beyond 45', though he's only
done it once. He also has the next best series. Kevin Smith is the only other thrower over
44', and he's done it twice. Kyle Smith is the only other thrower over 43', and he has the
next best series. Cangemi is the only remaining thrower with multiple throws over 42'.

Discus	1. Eric Myers Sissonville
	2. Mark Britton	Ritchie
	3. Kile Hale Magnolia
	4. Dominick Cangemi	Liberty Raleigh
	5. Sam Byrne Berkeley Springs
	6. Tyler Grant Point Pleasant
Myers is again the class of the field. It's the stronger of his two events, but at the same
time, it's the one he's most susceptible in. He has four throws better than anyone else's
best and a top throw of a whopping 183'5. Britton has a 161' throw and another over 150' and
easily the next best series. Hale is the only other thrower to have topped 150' and has
three tosses over 140'. Cangemi and Byrne have very similar sets of throws. Each has
a 140' throw adn three others over 135'. Cangemi is slightly better in the series, though.
Grant has three throws over 135' and no one else remaining has more than one.

P Vault	1. Seth Kendall	Winfield
	2. Drew Goodman	Winfield
	3. Cody Short Webster
	4. Joseph Sovine	Winfield
	5. Cody Masters	Ritchie
	6. DeAngelo Castro	Oak Hill
Kendall is the only one to have topped 13', and he's done it twice with a top performance
of 13'4. Goodman has a pair of 12'6 vaults and two others over 12'. Short has an 11'9
and a pair of 11'6 vaults. Sovine has an 11'7 and an 11' vault. Masters has a pair of
11's. Castro is the only other vaulter to have topped 11'.

High Point Predictions
1. Bernardo Caputo	Point Pleasant 23
2. Lenny Roach Berkeley Springs	22.25
3. Stewart Jones	Weir 22
3. Christian Powers	Winfield 22
5. Cameron Brown	Weir 20.50
