Class A Boys Individual Event Predictions

100 M	1. Justin Robinson	Moorefield
	2. Ethin Wolfe Gilmer
	3. Calvin Wilkerson	Williamson
	4. Keith Currence	Tygarts Valley
	5. Adam Kerns Williamstown
	6. Chris Klemm Wheeling Central
Robinson appears to be well ahead of the field. He has four times better than anyone
else's best and the best time in the field by 0.27 seconds. Wolfe only has the 6th best
top time, but his series is far more consistently hast than anyone else. Wilkerson has
the 2nd best top time and ran solidly as his regional. Currence was also solid at his
regional. Most of his top times and hand-times though. He did finish 3rd in the event
last year. Kerns has a solid series, but of his best five times, three are hand times
and only two have come in May. Klemm is a bit of a wildcard. As far as I can tell, he's
only run in two meets; one in March and the Regional. It was reported he had quit, but
apparently he's back. Two years ago, he was one of the top sprinters in the State, so
he has to be considered a threat. Mount Hope's Da'Von Marion and Pocahontas' Eric Rose,
who placed last year, should also be in the hunt.

200 M	1. Justin Robinson	Moorefield
	2. Ethin Wolfe Gilmer
	3. David Martin	Greenbrier West
	4. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	5. Chris Martin	Wheeling Central
	6. Adam Barker Paden City
Robinson ran the event for the first time this year at the Regional Meet and established
himself as the favorite in the process. Wolfe has a top time that is only 0.04 off
Robinson's time, so he is a threat. David Martin has the next best top time and the next
best series of electronic times. Edgell actually has a better series of times than
D.Martin, but three of them are hand-times. The top two, though, are electronic. Chris
Martin is the only other one with five runs under 24 seconds, giving him the next best
series. Barker has a better top time than Edgell or Chris Martin, but only has three
runs under 24 seconds. Moorefield's Cody Mongold and Pocahontas' Eric Rose should be very
much in contention as well.

400 M	1. David Martin	Greenbrier West
	2. Adam Barker Paden City
	3. Ethin Wolfe Gilmer
	4. Randy Ferrill	Greenbrier West
	5. Xavier Whetzel	Wheeling Central
	6. Corey Good Buffalo
Martin has the best top time and the best series with four runs under 52 seconds. Barker
has only run the event three times, but two of them have been under 52 seconds. Wolfe
has three runs under 52.5 and was 5th in the event last year. Ferrill has the only other
run under 53. Whetzel has only run the event at his regional, where he turned a 53.61 and
finished 2nd to Barker. Good has the fifth best top time and a pair of runs under 54.
Kyle Davies of St. Marys has the 6th best top time, but his second best effort is a high
54. Pocahontas' Trevor Caplinger has a pair of runs under 54 and could figure in. And
you have to look out for Keith Currence. He hasn't run under 54.5 this season, but he
did win the event last year.

800 M	1. Robbie Peters	Greenbrier West
	2. Levi Grandt Doddridge
	3. Kyle James Mount Hope
	4. Randy Ferrill	Greenbrier West
	5. Cyrus Hajiran	Wheeling Central
	6. Derrick Chaffin	Richwood
Peters has the best time and the best series of times, and he beat Grandt head-to-head
at the Gazette Relays. Grandt easily has the next best series and is less than 1 second
behind Peters at every point (and ahead of him on one of them). James has also gone under
2:05, and actually has a better top time than Grandt, but his second best time is 2:08.
James did beat Peters head-to-head, so it's not a big stretch to think he could win as well.
No one else has been under 2:06. Ferrill has the next best series and his two best times
have been in his last two meets. Hajiran has a better top time than Ferrill but hasn't
been under 2:10 in any other meet. Chaffin's series is very similar to Ferrill's, so he
could move up. Charleston Catholic's Seth Ritchie and Wheeling Central's Ryan Herron
are the only other runners to have gone under 2:10, with a 2:07 and 2:08, respectively.

1600 M	1. Levi Grandt Doddridge
	2. Ryan Herron Wheeling Central
	3. Robbie Peters	Greenbrier West
	4. Lucas Warner	Tucker
	5. Andrew Blair	Charleston Catholic
	6. Adam Barker Paden City
Grandt is the clear favorite. His best time is 15 seconds ahead of the field. His 5th
best time is 7 seconds better than anyone else's best. Herron's top time is nearly five
seconds better than Peters' top time. Peters does have a better series and good 800 speed,
so he could take that spot. Warner has four runs under 4:50 and the fourth best top time.
Blaire has three 4:47 runs under his belt. Barker hasn't run under 5:00 so far this year,
but he had only run a 4:52 last year when he popped a 4:38 to win it. He also placed
seemingly out of nowhere the year before, so he cannot be written off. Pocahontas' Abram
Rittenhouse is the only other runner with multiple runs under 4:55.

3200 M	1. Levi Grandt Doddridge
	2. Lucas Warner	Tucker
	3. Dustin Wood Richwood
	4. Kyle James Mount Hope
	5. Tony Majestro	Charleston Catholic
	6. Rob Bonenberger	Wheeling Central
Grandt is very far ahead of the field in this one. His top time is 59 seconds faster than
anyone else. His 5th best time is over 42 seconds faster than anyone else's best. Warner
has the best remaining series and the only two other runs under 10:30. Wood has the only
other run under 10:40 with his 10:32 and is the only other runner with four runs under
11:00. James is the only other runner with two runs under 10:50, and he was a placer last
year. Majestor has the fourth best top time with his 10:44. Bonenberger only has the 9th
best time, but he's only run the event twice and did place second last year, so I felt like
I had to put him in there. Williamstown's Corey Meadows, Pendleton's Austin Godel, and
Doddridge's Daniel Clevenger have all been under 10:50.

110 HH	1. Chris Martin	Wheeling Central
	2. Haden Kocher	Valley Wetzel
	3. L.A. Hampton	Bishop Donahue
	4. Micah Wood Williamstown
	5. Clay Dallison	Valley Wetzel
	6. Luke Gwinn Greenbrier West
Martin has the top time by over 0.6 seconds, and his top five times are all at least 0.3
seconds better than anyone else's best. Kocher easily has the next best series with five
runs coming in under 16.2. Hampton has a better top time than Kocher and the only sub-16
other than Martin in the field. Wood ran very well at his regional in only his second
meet in the event. Dallison ran his top time of the year at his regional and has the 5th
best top time in the field. Gwinn will try to fend of Doddridge's Zach Holden for the
final spot. Holden has a slightly better series, but Gwinn's four best runs have come in
his last three meets. Richwood's Joshua O'Dell is the only other one if the field with
more than one run under 17 seconds.

300 IH	1. Chris Martin	Wheeling Central
	2. Joey Butts Moorefield
	3. Cory Good Buffalo
	4. Landry Marrs	Doddridge
	5. Jeffrey Manspile	Greenbrier West
	6. Zach Holden Doddridge
Martin has four runs under 42 seconds and a top time of 40.36. No one else has more than
one run under 42. That other run under 42 belongs to Butts. Good has been consistent with
his top three runs being between 42.67 and 42.87. Marrs has the next best series with
three runs under 44 seconds. Manspile has a better top time than Marrs, but that was his
only run under 44. Holden has the next best series of times. He will have to hold off
Buffalo's Matt Moore, Richwood's Joshua O'Dell, and Moorefield's Chrisitan Coby.

4x100 M	1. Wheeling Central
	2. Moorefield
	3. Williamstown
	4. Bishop Donahue
	5. Tygarts Valley
	6. Williamson
Wheeling Central has two runs under 46 seconds. Moorefield has a better top time than
Wheelign Central and is a threat to win the event. Williamstown has five runs under 47
seconds. Bishop Donahue has a pair of runs under 47 seconds and another just over.
Tygarts Valley has the next best series of times and looked good in their regional.
Williamson has the next best series. Valley Wetzel, Pocahontas, and St. Marys could factor
into the scoring. Buffalo may be a bit of a wildcard. They have the 4th best top time
and it was run on March 29th. Their second best time would only put them 12th, though.
It appears that two of the members of that March 29th team did not run at all at the
regional.

4x200 M	1. Moorefield
	2. Williamson
	3. Wheeling Central
	4. Bishop Donahue
	5. Buffalo
	6. Williamstown
Moorefield appears to be the class of this field. They have give runs under 1:36 while
no one else has any. Their top time is over 1.3 seconds ahead of the field. Williamson
has a solid unit that looked very good at the Gazette Relays. Wheeling Central only has
the 6th best top time, but has the potential to move up, particularly if they were to pull
Chris Martin from the 200 and put him here. Bishop Donahue beat Wheeling Central at the
Regional and could certainly move up. Buffalo has the 4th best top time and it did occur
at their regional. Williamstown also has a better top time than Wheeling Central.
Pocahontas should also be in the mix.

4x400 M	1. Greenbrier West
	2. Wheeling Central
	3. Charleston Catholic
	4. Williamstown
	5. Richwood
	6. Tygarts Valley
Greenbrier West appears to have this fairly well in hand. I think they can turn about a
3:33 if they need to. The probably won't need to. It doesn't really look like anyone
else other than Wheeling Central can go under 3:40. Central has already run 3:37 can
likely only go a little faster. Charleston Catholic can possible go under 3:40.
Williamstown and Richwood look like the next best units. Tygarts Valley gets the nod
over Pocahontas simply for winning the regional battle. Doddridge and Moorefield look
like the next most likely placers. Doddrige could add pull Cuylor Edgell from an individual
event and add him to this relay andy maybe move as high as 4th.

4x800 M	1. Greenbrier West
	2. Wheeling Central
	3. Doddridge
	4. Pocahontas
	5. Charleston Catholic
	6. Richwood
Greenbrier West looks to be the tops of this field as well. They have three runs better
than anyone else's best and have the top time by about 15 seconds. Wheeling Central,
Doddridge, and Pocahontas should battle for second. It looks like Central can turn an 8:37
or so and Doddridge can go 8:38 or better. Pocahontas has already been 8:41, but their
second best run in an 8:56. Charleston Catholic can run in the 8:47 range or better.
Richwood is given the edge over Tucker, Williamstown, and Moorefield. You may not have to
run under 8:50 to place.

Shuttle	1. Moorefield
	2. Bishop Donahue
	3. Doddridge
	4. Valley Wetzel
	5. Williamstown
	6. Charleston Catholic
This one should be a lot of fun. Any of these six could win the event. Moorefield has
the best series and the best regional performance, but they only have the 4th best top
time. Bishop Donahue has the second best series. Doddridge wasn't far off Moorefield
at their regional and could conceivably add Cuylor Edgell to this unit, which would probably
make them the favorite. Valley Wetzel matched Bishop Donahue's time at the regional
and has the 3rd best top time in the field. Williamstown and Charleston Catholic had the
2nd and 3rd best regional performances. Richwood has also run under 1:05 and could get
in there.

L Jump	1. Haden Kocher	Valley Wetzel
	2. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	3. Da'Von Marion	Mount Hope
	4. Kyle Davies St. Marys
	5. Clayton Lewis	Tygarts Valley
	6. Rod Jones Wheeling Central
Kocher has the only 21' jump in the field and has three jumps further than anyone else's
best. His top five jumps are all at least 20'6. No one else has topped it more than once.
Edgell has four 20' jumps to his credit including a 20'10 effort that is within 4" of
Kocher's best. Marion only has one 20' jump, but he did do it at his regional, and he
was 2nd in the event last year. Davies has a 20' jump, which was also at his regional,
and another two over 19'6 and placed 6th last year. Lewis has a pair of 20' jumps and
two more over 19', but his regional jump was not among them. Jones has three jumps over
19'. However, none of his five best jumps have occurred in May. Charleston Catholic's
Corey Bonasso, Pocahontas' Jeff Fertig, and Buffalo's Corey Good will be threats to place
as well.

H Jump	1. Jeff Fertig Pocahontas
	2. John Judy Moorefield
	3. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	4. John Belancic	Wheeling Central
	5. Adam Scott Buffalo
	6. Rod Jones Wheeling Central
Fertig has a 6'5 and a 6'3 to go along with a 6'2 and a pair of 6'0 jumps. No one else
has been higher than 6'2. Judy has a 6'2, a 6'1, and a 6'0 jump to his credit with the
6'0 jump coming at the regional. Edgell has a better series than Judy with three 6'2
clearances and a 6'0 jump, but his four best jumps all occurred mid-April or before.
Belancic is the only other jumper to have cleared 6'0, and he's done it twice. Scott
has a 5'11 and a 5'10. Jones has four 5'10 jumps to his credit. Mount Hope's Kyle James
is the only other jumper with more than one 5'10 jump.

Shot	1. Travis Malone	St. Marys
	2. Shawn Murphy	Richwood
	3. Jerry Mason Valley Wetzel
	4. Aaron Schneid	Wheeling Central
	5. Jacob Jones Richwood
	6. Matthew Kiger	Williamstown
Malone has a pair of throws over 50', including a 51'11 effort. He has three others over
48'. Murphy has easily the next best throw and the next best series. He has three throws
better than anyone else's best. Mason and Schneid each have a pair of throws over 46'
with each having one in May and one in April. Mason has a better overall series, though.
Jones has the only other 46' throw in the field, but his second best throw is a low 44.
Kiger has a pair of 44's, as does Tygarts Valley's Nathan Yokum, but Kiger has a better
overall series. No one else has been over 44'.

Discus	1. Shawn Murphy	Richwood
	2. Jerry Mason Valley Wetzel
	3. Aaron Schneid	Wheeling Central
	4. Justin Slider	Valley Wetzel
	5. Matt Kiger Williamstown
	6. Nathan Yokum	Tygarts Valley
Murphy has a pair of throws over 150' including the top throw of 157'. He also has two
others over 140'. Mason has the only other 150' throw in the field and has five over
140'. Schneid has the only other throw over 140'. Slider has five throws over 130'.
Kiger has a better top throw than Slider, but his overall series isn't as strong.
Yokum also has a better top throw than Slider, but his 138'5 is his only effort over 130'.
Richwood's Jacob Jones and Williamstown's Jakeb Elliott are the only other throwers to
have topped 130'.

P Vault	1. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	2. Jeremy White	Doddridge
	3. Kyle Davies St. Marys
	4. Cam Kinder Gilmer
	5. Jasper Twyman	Wirt
	6. Tyler George	Williamstown
Edgell is the top vaulter in the state regardless of class. He has a 14'6 vault to his
credit. He also has a 14' vault, a pair of 13'6 vaults and at least one 13'0 vault to
go along with it. White is the only other vaulter in the state, regardless of class, to
clear 14'0. He has a 13'6, a 13'1, and a pair of 13' vaults to go along with it.
Davies has a 13'6 vault under his belt, but his second best vault is 12', which he's done
twice. Kinder has a pair of 12' vaults to his credit. Twyman has four 11' vaults. George
is the only other vaulter to have topped 11'0.
