Class A Boys Individual Event Predictions

100 M	1. Matt Hickman	St. Marys
	2. Timmy White Gilmer
	3. Keith Currence	Tygarts Valley
	4. Justin Robinson	Moorefield
	5. Eric Rose Pocahontas
	6. Derek Spitzer	St. Marys
This has really been Matt Hickman's event all season, and no one has really taken it from him.
White has one time that matches up to Hickman's performances, but is off the mark on the rest.
Things get very tight after that. Currence and Robinson were very close at the Regional.
Rose and Spitzer will be trying to hold off Xavier Wetzel of Wheeling Central and Brian
Mosteller of Charleston catholic.

200 M	1. Timmy White Gilmer
	2. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison
	3. Matt Hickman	St. Marys
	4. Keith Currence	Tygarts Valley
	5. Shawn Robinson	St. Marys
	6. Brian Mosteller	Charleston Catholic
Nottingham has the best time of the group, but White has been fast more consistently. The two
should be very close. Hickman will also be a factor in this mix but has finished behind White
on several occasions. Currence has gained late season strength and could move up a spot.
Robinson is generally not far behind Hickman. Mosteller has the next best series of times.
Others who will be factors in this race are Bryan Allen of Mount Hope, Eric Rose of Pocahontas,
and Derek Spitzer of St. Marys.

400 M	1. Robbie Sherrard	Charleston Catholic
	2. Ben Yoke South Harrison
	3. Keith Currence	Tygarts Valley
	4. David Martin	Greenbrier West
	5. Timmy White Gilmer
	6. Ethin Wolfe Gilmer
I can see any of the front five winning this event. I actually initially had Yoke winning
this event, but ended up back with Sherrard just based on a better overall series of times.
Yoke does have the fastest overall time. Sherrard will have the slight disadvantage of
having to run from lane 1. Currence really stepped up his game at the Regional meet and
there may still be more there. Martin has a pair of sub-52 runs, one of only three who
can claim that (Sherrard and Yoke). Wolfe actually has a better series than White, but
that could be because White has only run the event three times. Williamstown's Brandon
Roberts will also be a factor in this race.

800 M	1. Robbie Sherrard	Charleston Catholic
	2. Chad Henson Williamstown
	3. Troy Wilsoncroft	Doddridge
	4. Cameron Koehler	Wheeling Central
	5. Eamonn Maher	Charleston Catholic
	6. Robbie Peters	Greenbrier West
Sherrard should have closed the mind of any doubters with his Regional run. Also remember
that he finished 2nd last year despite falling on the first lap. Henson has a pair of 2:03
runs and a 2:04. Wilsoncroft was close on his heels at their conference meet and was a 4th
place finisher a year ago. Koehler has a pair of 2:06's to his credit. Maher has a pair of
2:07's. Peters and teammate Randy Ferrell are the only other runners that have been under
2:10. That makes them the favorites for the final spot, but it also means that pretty much
anyone can sneak in and get a spot since the slowest top time of the group is 2:13.

1600 M	1. Chad Henson Williamstown
	2. Dustin Hall St. Marys
	3. Ryan Herron Wheeling Central
	4. Adam Barker Paden City
	5. Clifford Arbogast	Cameron
	6. Abram Rittenhouse	Pocahontas
Henson had very good runs at his conference and regional meets, knocking off Hall on both
occasions. Hall is very close and could take the event. Herron is the only other runner
in the field that has run under 4:50, and he's done it twice. Barker has a pair of 4:52 runs
and was a place last year. Arbogast has a couple runs under 4:55. Rittenhouse doesn't have
the top remaining time but hie does have three 4:55's and a 4:56. He may be ready to step
up. A wildcard in the mix may be Doddridge's Levi Grandt. He barely made it into the field
in his first race back from a stress fracture. How much can he improve in a week? There are
really about 12 guys, mabye even 13 that can place in this race.

3200 M	1. Dustin Hall St. Marys
	2. Rob Bonenberger	Wheeling Central
	3. Lucas Warner	Tucker
	4. Clifford Arbogast	Cameron
	5. Kyle James Mount Hope
	6. Dustin Wood Richwood
Hall is a clear and distinct favorite. He's 24 seconds ahead of the next healthy runner.
It's his race to win. Bonenberger's top time is 12 seconds ahead of the next person, and
he has four performances better than the next person. The next four runners have top times
that are within 7 seconds of each other. Warner has the best remaining series and was an
All-State Cross Country performer as well as a placer last year. James had a breakout race
at his regional and may just be figuring out what he can do. Wood also had his best race by
over 10 seconds at the regional. As with the 1600, Levi Grandt is a wildcard. He won his
regional but only ran 11:02. Again, how much can he improve in a week? Sean Droginske of
Wheeling Central and Tony Majestro of Charleston Catholic should also be factors.

110 HH	1. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison
	2. Donovan Bregg	East Hardy
	3. Steven Clayton	South Harrison
	4. Ross Elder Williamstown
	5. Billy Kelley	Pocahontas
	6. Clay Dallison	Valley Wetzel
Nottingham is basically a full second ahead of the field. He may be able to finish, catch
his breath, do an interview, and then watch everyone else finish. Bregg easily has the next
best series of times, with 4 runs in the low 16's. However, Clayton edged him out at the
Regional Meet. Elder is the only other runner with two runs under 16.5. Kelley has a better
series of times than Dallison, but Dallison has the better top time. Jason Malcomb of
Richwood is the only other runner in the field with two runs under 17 seconds.

300 IH	1. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison
	2. Billy Kelley	Pocahontas
	3. Chris Martin	Wheeling Central
	4. Benji Powers	Williamstown
	5. Joey Butts Moorefield
	6. Josh Nolan Valley Wetzel
Like in the 110's, Nottingham is well ahead of the field. Some will want to point to the
fact that Kelley beat Nottingham at the Regional, but it should be noted that Notthingham
had won the 200 with only 1 heat of girls 300 Meter Low Hurdles and one heat of boys 300
Meter Intermediate Hurdles in between the events. That was a very fast turnaround, and
Nottingham did lead until shortly before the final hurdle. Nottingham has 4 runs faster
than what Kelley did at the Regional. Kelley has three runs faster than any of the remaining
field. Powers has the only other runs under 42, and he's done it twice. Assuming he's left
in the event, he's about a second faster than anyone remaining in the field. Butts has the
next best series, just slightly ahead of Nolan. Also factors in the race could be Doddridge's
Kevin Zorn, Williamstown's Ryan Flowers, Buffalo's Kevin McCoy, and South Harrison's Steven
Clayton.

4x100 M	1. St. Marys
	2. Wheeling Central
	3. Williamstown
	4. Moorefield
	5. Clay-Battelle
	6. South Harrison
St. Marys is well ahead of the field and should win by over half a second. Wheeling Central
showed some muscle at their Regional Meet. Williamstown is actually only 6th in terms of
best time, but I think this is where Benji Powers will end up (I'm guessing Williamstown
takes him out of the 400), plus they can add Micah Wood to the lineup. Clay-Battelle
and Moorefield have equal top times, but Moorefield has been there more often. South Harrison
has the next best time and the next best series. Pocahontas and Gilmer could be factors.

4x200 M	1. St. Marys
	2. Moorefield
	3. Wirt
	4. South Harrison
	5. Wheeling Central
	6. Doddridge
Again, St. Marys is well ahead of the field. They're over a second faster than anyone else
and should win with ease. Moorefield has the next best time by over a second and has three
runs faster than anyone else's best. Things get exceptionally tight after that. The next
four teams have top FAT times that are within 6 hundredths of a second of each other. Wirt
edged Doddridge at the Conference Meet, and South Harrison edged them at the Regional Meet.
Wheeling Central put their uni together for the first time at the Regional meet and could move
up. Williamstown, Pocahontas, and possibly Charleston catholic could also be factors.

4x400 M	1. Charleston Catholic
	2. Williamstown
	3. Wheeling Central
	4. Doddridge
	5. Greenbrier West
	6. Wirt
Charleston Catholic and Williamstown appear to be well ahead of the field. Catholic won the
regional matchup by the tiny margin of 0.04. Williamstown could put Powers on this relay
and probably secure the win. Wheeling Central will have to do their damage from the first
heat. That will make things more difficult, but with Chris Martin knocked out of the 110's,
he's available for this unit. Doddridge will battle with Greenbrier West for fourth. Wirt
will try to hold off Pocahontas, Moorefield, and Tucker for 6th. If this event is like last
year, several teams will really step up their performances and really shake up the picks.

4x800 M	1. Charleston Catholic
	2. Pocahontas
	3. Wheeling Central
	4. Greenbrier West
	5. Williamstown
	6. Doddridge
Charleston Catholic can run away with this event. They can put together a group that could
threaten the Class A Record. No one else is even close. Things get incredibly tight after
Charleston Catholic, though, and this could be one of the more entertaining races of the
weekend. I think the next five teams can all run between 8:37 and 8:42 if they run well.
Pocahontas has the best actual time of the group but will struggle to hold that spot.
Wheeling Central has the next best time and has one change they can make that can probably
improve that unit. Greenbrier West hasn't been as fast as a couple of the others, but the
potential is there. Williamstown ran 9:00 at their Regional and didn't have Chad Henson
or Brandon Roberts on the unit. I think they'll both be on there on Friday. Doddridge
can move Kevin Zorn off the 300 Meter Hurdles onto their group, and then there's also the
Levi Grandt factor. He didn't run the 800 or the 4x800 at the Regional, but he is apparently
available.

Shuttle	1. South Harrison
	2. Williamstown
	3. Bishop Donahue
	4. Valley Wetzel
	5. Doddridge
	6. Richwood
South Harrison is the only team to have been under 60 seconds, and they've done it twice.
Williamstown has run under 61 and has run a very low 61 without Powers. If they move Powers
to this group, they'd have a shot at South Harrison. Bishop Donahue is the only other team
to have been under 1:03,a nd they've done it twice. Valley Wetzel has two runs in the very
low 1:03's. Doddridge has a couple outings under 1:03.5 as does Richwood. Wirt, Buffalo,
and Moorefield will also be in the running for places. The 3rd heat will feature four teams
whose regional times were all within 0.11 of each other.

L Jump	1. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	2. Bryan Allen Mount Hope
	3. Aaron Lantz South Harrison
	4. Da'Von Marion	Mount Hope
	5. Kyle Davies St. Marys
	6. Corey Bonasso	Charleston Catholic
The long jump is always tough to pick. Edgell is the only jumper with more than one 20' jump.
All has the next best series of jumps. Lantz has the best overall single jump with his 20'9
but he has no other meets over 19'. Marion beat Edgell at the Gazette Relays. Davies has
dramatically improved his jumps over the last couple weeks, which could mean he's figuring
the event out. It could also mean he just had a couple fluke jumps. Bonasso has a couple
jumps over 19', including one at the Gazette Relays where he also knocked off Edgell. South
Harrison's Carl Townsend and St. Marys' Shawn Robinson are the next most likely candidates.

H Jump	1. Clint Wilson	Bishop Donahue
	2. Ken Barrows Bishop Donahue
	3. Aaron Lantz South Harrison
	4. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	5. Ross Elder Williamstown
	6. Brian Dennis	St. Marys
Wilson has the only jump higher than 6'4 and has 4 jumps of at least 6'4. Barrows has hit
6'2 in his last two meets. Lantz has a pair of 6'4 jumps. Edgell has a 6'4 jump and a couple
6'2's but has only jumped 5'10 in his last two meets. Elder has at least 5 jumps of 6'0, but
did not get that mark in his Conference or Regional meet. Dennis has a 6'2 and a 6'0 leap to
his credit. Richwood's Jason Malcomb and Williamstown's Brandon Roberts are the next most
likely possibilities as they're the only remaining jumpers with more than one jump of 5'10.

Shot	1. Val Culp Mount Hope
	2. Derek Ludolph	St. Marys
	3. Travis Malone	St. Marys
	4. Dustin Fox Gilmer
	5. Shawn Murphy	Richwood
	6. Desmond Newsome	Mount Hope
Culp is the only thrower with more than one toss over 50' and has the best overall series.
Ludolph has the next best series of throws. Malone has the next best series after that.
Fox is the only thrower other than Culp to exceed 50', but his 2nd best throw is just over
48'. Murphy has the next best series of throws. Newsome had one gigantic toss of 49'
but his series is well short of Murphy's. Pocahontas' Aaron Pugh, East Hardy's Joshua
Ordorff, and Valley Wetzel's Jerry Mason will be waiting in the wings if someone is slightly
off their game.

Discus	1. Greg Reed Doddridge
	2. Shawn Murphy	Richwood
	3. Val Culp Mount Hope
	4. Jerry Mason Valley Wetzel
	5. Aaron Pugh Pocahontas
	6. Steven Jewell	Williamstown
Reed has three throws that top anyone else's best. Murphy has the next best series of throws.
Culp is the only thrower other than Reed to top 140'. Mason hsa the next best series followed
pretty closely across the board by Pugh. Jewell get the edge over teammate Matt Kiger due to
a better series even though Kiger has the better top throw and it happened at the Regional
meet. Valley Wetzel's Justin Slider and Wirt's Derek Egbert hope to slip into a spot.

P Vault	1. Seth Beckner	Buffalo
	2. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	3. Ryan Flowers	Williamstown
	4. Benji Powers	Williamstown
	5. Jeremy White	Doddridge
	6. Andrew Varlas	Wheeling Central
As with last year, Beckner is the top vaulter regardless of Class. Actually this year, I'd
say the top four vaulters regardless of class are in Class A. Beckner has been over 14' at
least 5 times and has a top vault of 15'4, which occurred at the Regional Meet. Edgell has
a 13'7 and a pair of 13'6 vaults. Flowers has a 13'6 and at least 4 other 13's. Powers
has a 13'6 and a 13', and he's coming off an injury. If he's completely healthy, he could
move up. White has a pair of 12'6 vaults. Varlas has a vault of 11'9.25 and a pair of
11'6 vaults. Williamstown's Cole Fluharty and Gilmer's Logan Kinder will try to contend for
a place.

High Point Predicitons
1. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison 30.50
2. Robbie Sherrard	Charleston Catholic	25
3. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge 22.50
4. Matt Hickman	St. Marys 21
5. Chad Henson Williamstown 20.50
