100 M 1. Jasmine Cotten Fayetteville
2. Shalanda Hall Clay-Battelle
3. Christina Saunders Fayetteville
4. Katie Velto Madonna
5. Kristen Saggio Madonna
6. Meghan Coby Moorefield
Cotten is well ahead of the field. Hall has the next best series and did beat Cotten last
year. Saunders was close to Cotten early in the season, but missed most of the 2nd part of
the season. Velto has a very strong series of times and could place higher. Saggio has
the next best series of times. Coby placed 4th last yearr. Kirsten Mullins is definitely
in the running as well, as iare Tessa Joseph and Marissa Haddix.
200 M 1. Shalanda Hall Clay-Battelle
2. Christina Saunders Fayetteville
3. Leah Comis Madonna
4. Kirsten Mullins Charleston Catholic
5. Mica Seman Wirt
6. Kayla Wright South Harrison
Hall has the best series and was 2nd last year. Saunders' top two times are better than
Hall's top two times, but she only recently started competing again. Comis placed 4th
last year and easily has the next best series. It wouldn't be a shock for her to move up.
Mullins has the next best top time and the next best series. Seman has a slightly better
top time than Wright, and the two have very similar series of times. Kayla Mitchell,
Erica Hatfield, and Megan Yoho are the top additional threats to place.
400 M 1. Jasmine Cotten Fayetteville
2. Kylee Boring Doddridge
3. Lauren Bauer Wheeling Central
4. Laura Spencer Richwood
5. Lauren Sassler Charleston Catholic
6. Kayla Wright South Harrison
Cotten is far and away the class of the field. Her top time is nearly five seconds faster
than anyone else. Boring has five runs faster than the next person's best. Bauer is the
only other runner to have gone under 1:04. Spencer was a placer last year, but she'll have
to do it from the first heat. Sassler has a pair of runs under 1:05. Wright and Megan Kelley
are very close, but Wright won the regional match-up. Kaitlyn Nicholas could also jump into
the placings.
800 M 1. Jasmine Cotten Fayetteville
2. Julia McGinley Wheeling Central
3. Lauren Bauer Wheeling Central
4. Kim Abcouwer Charleston Catholic
5. Stephanie Caruso Wheeling Central
6. Kylee Boring Doddridge
Cotten doesn't have the best time, but she also hasn't been beaten in the event. Usually,
she just runs around behind everyone else until the end of the race and then sprints past
them in the last 100 meters. McGinley has the best time in the group and was the 3rd place
finisher last year. Abcouwer only has the 5th best time, but she was the 4th place finisher
a year ago. Caruso only has the 8th best time, but I know she can go 2:30 or better.
Boring has the 4th best top time in the group and could move up. Also in the mix are Jennifer
McFarland, Caitlin Miller, Brandi Bowen, and Laura Spencer (placed last year) as a darkhorse.
1600 M 1. Stephanie Caruso Wheeling Central
2. Kim Abcouwer Charleston Catholic
3. Micalyn Miller St. Marys
4. Elizabeth Hyde Doddridge
5. Heidi Webb Williamstown
6. Megan Cook Wheeling Central
Caruso is 15 seconds ahead of the field. Abcouwer has four runs faster than anyone else's
best and was 3rd last year. Miller has a pair of times better than the next person's best.
Hye is the only other runner in the field with more than one run under 5:50. Webb has five
runs between 5:48 and 5:53 and could easily move up. Cook was a placer last year. Also
in the mix will be Emily Coffman and Carrie Kitzmiller.
3200 M 1. Stephanie Caruso Wheeling Central
2. Elizabeth Hyde Doddridge
3. Gina Majestro Charleston Catholic
4. Heidi Webb Williamstown
5. Nora Sheridan Charleston Catholic
6. Dani Gray Williamstown
Caruso is nearly 30 seconds ahead of everyone else. Hyde is over 30 seconds ahead of the
next best time. Majestro is the only other runner to have multiple runs under 13:00. Webb
and Sheridan are very close. Sheridan's best time is slightly better than Webb's but Webb's
number two time is better, plus Webb was a placer last year. Gray has been steadily chipping
away at her time and could easily move up. Emily Coffman is the most likely person to jump
in and take one of these spots.
100 HH 1. Mica Seman Wirt
2. Olivia Lambert South Harrison
3. Logan Coffield Bishop Donahue
4. Lark Butler Gilmer
5. Alexis Dziatkowicz Madonna
6. Sammi Postlewaite Williamstown
Seman has the top time and the top series. Lambert was the champion last year, and it would
not be a surprise for it to happen again. Coffield has a better series than Lambert.
Butler is coming on and could move up. Dziatkowicz has the next best top time and the next
best series. Postlewaite will battle with Katherine Mauer and Marissa Haddix for the 6th
spot.
300 LH 1. Leah Comis Madonna
2. Lark Butler Gilmer
3. Olivia Lambert South Harrison
4. Mica Seman Wirt
5. Jesse Pifer Tucker
6. Sammi Postlewaite Williamstown
Comis will have her work cut out for her. She ended up in the first heat after pretty much
getting the shaft at her Regional Meet. She's got the best speed in the bunch, and that
may carry her through to the win. Butler has the best series in the field. Lambert is the
defending champion in this event as well. She doesn't have the next best time or the next
best series, but she didn't last year either. Pifer was a placer last year. She'll have to
go from the 1st heat as well. She showed a lot of courage in running the 300's at the
Regional meet after a very nasty spill in the 100 Highs finals. Postlewaite has run her two
best times in the last two meets. Other contenders are Brianna Lowther (3rd last year),
Megan Kelley, and Marci Myers.
4x100 M 1. Madonna
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Wheeling Central
4. Clay-Battelle
5. Paden City
6. Moorefield
Madonna has five runs that are at least 1.5 seconds better than anyone else's. Charleston
Catholic, Wheeling Central, and Clay-Battelle are very close and could finish in any order.
Paden City will try to hold off Moorefield for 5th. Williamstown, South Harrison, and St.
Marys will be fighting for spots as well.
4x200 M 1. Madonna
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Moorefield
4. Doddridge
5. Wheeling Central
6. Clay-Battelle
Madonna again appears to be well ahead of the field. Charleston Catholic has the next best
time. Moorefield edged out Doddridge at the Regional. Wheeling Central's best time is very
close to Moorefield and Doddridge, and they could easily move up. Clay-Battelle will try
to fend off Paden City and St. Marys for 6th.
4x400 M 1. Doddridge
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Wheeling Central
4. Williamstown
5. St. Marys
6. Richwood
Doddridge has the top time of the group and has the option to add Megan Kelley to the unit.
Charleston Catholic and Wheeling Central can both probably run in the 4:22-23 range.
Williamstown can probably go 4:25-26. St. Marys can put together a group that can go 4:27
or so. Richwood is the favorite for the final spot, but Gilmer may have more potential
and could easily take the spot. Moorefield may be in the running as well.
4x800 M 1. Wheeling Central
2. Charleston Catholic
3. Doddridge
4. St. Marys
5. Williamstown
6. Gilmer
Wheeling Central has been 21 seconds faster than anyone else and can likely go under 10:00.
Charleston Catholic and Doddridge aren't far apart, but Charleston Catholic appears to be
slightly stronger and won their only head-to-head matchup by 8 seconds. St. Marys isn't far
off Doddridge or Charleston Catholic and will be waiting to pounce if either falters.
Williamstown's best time is 36 seconds off what St. Marys has done, but they are capable of
putting together a unit that might be able to run in the low 10:30's. Gilmer has a 9 second
gap on the next best team. Bishop Donaue and Pocahontas will try to get slip in for a point.
It should also be noted that Richwood could move some things around and possibly put toghether
a placing unit. At least three of the members of last year's 4th place team are available.
Shuttle 1. Tygarts Valley
2. Williamstown
3. Gilmer
4. Doddridge
5. Paden City
6. Madonna
This should be a pretty tight race as it's really not outside the realm of possibility for any
of the top 6 to win. Tygarts Valley has the top time and is the only team with more than one
run under 1:11. Williamstown had the best time in the regional meets. Gilmer is the only
other team to have been under 1:11. Doddridge has three runs under 1:12. Paden City has
a pair of runs under 1:12. Madonna is the only other team to have been under 1:12.
Bishop Donahue is the most likely to jump in and take a place.
L Jump 1. Jasmine Cotten Fayetteville
2. Marissa Haddix South Harrison
3. Mica Seman Wirt
4. Lindsay Hern Gilmer
5. Leah Beverlin Paden City
6. Jesse Pifer Tucker
Cotten has four jumps over 16' and no one else has more than one. Haddix has a 16' jump on
her resume, and her other four top jumps are better than anyone else's best. Seman is the
only other one to surpass 15', and she's done it twice. Hern has the next best top jump
and the next best series. Beverlin has three 14' jumps. Pifer has two 14' jumps and
placed last year. Also with 14' jumps to their credit are Rachel Sandy, Joelle Allen,
Michelle Holstine (placed last year), Lydia Powell, Rachel Sommerville, and Jamie Doty.
H Jump 1. Jen Hill Bishop Donahue
2. Nikki Costa Valley Fayette
3. Ciara Riggleman Tygarts Valley
4. Justina Martin Wheeling Central
5. Allison Brown Pendleton
6. Beth Ann Moyers Gilmer
The only meet that I saw for Hill was the regional meet, but she cleared 5'0, which no one
else in the field has done. Costa also only has one meet that I've seen, but it was a 4'10
regional meet performance and was a placer last year. Riggleman has a pair of 4'10 jumps
but only cleared 4'4 at her Regional. Martin only has a single 4'8 performance with no other
jump higher than 4'4, but the 4'8 came at the regional meet. Brown hsa a 4'10 jump but
only cleared 4'6 in the other two meets I saw for her. Moyers has the most 4'8 jumps in the
field. Leah Michael, Megan Elder, Brice Fenton, and Tiffany Simpson will also be fighting
for a spot.
Shot 1. Kayla Todd Doddridge
2. Alicia Cayton Doddridge
3. Cindy Hillberry Mount Hope
4. Amanda Kerns St. Marys
5. Mary Beth Peden Charleston Catholic
6. Amanda Napolitani Doddridge
Todd has the best top throw, and the best series. Cayton is the defending champion and has
at least five throws better than the next persons best. Hillberry has her two best throws
in her last two meets. Kerns has a 37' throw and a 35' throw. Peden has a 35' toss and
a pair of 34' tosses. Napolitani ha a pair of 34' throws and finished 3rd last year. Kendra
Brown and Elizabeth Davis will try to snag spots.
Discus 1. Amanda Napolitani Doddridge
2. Mary Beth Peden Charleston Catholic
3. Laura Ankrom Williamstown
4. Kayla Todd Doddridge
5. Amanda Kerns St. Marys
6. Joanna Dempsey South Harrison
Napolitani has three throws better than anyone else's best. Her best toss is over 6' better
than anyone else's, and she's the defending champion. Peden has four throws over 100'
including a 110' effort. Ankrom has a pair of 100's throws, and they occurred in her two
most recent meets. Todd also has a pair of 100' throws and did beat Ankrom at their
confernece meet. Kerns has a 100' throw and a 99' throw giving her the edge over Dempsey,
who's best throw is better than Kern's but who's 2nd best throw is only 93'. Alicia Cayton,
Cindy Hillberry, and Ali Flowers have all exceeded 90'.
P Vault 1. Kate Billups Williamstown
2. Kayla Thompson Williamstown
3. Emily Lewis Buffalo
4. Sammi Postlewaite Williamstown
5. KayCee Hill Doddridge
6. Jordan Coffman Doddridge
Billups is the only one to have gone higher than 8'0, and she's done it at least 5 times,
including one 9'0 vault. Thompson and Lewis have identical series, but Thompson cleared 8'
at the regional and Lewis did not. Postlewaite is the only other vaulter to top 8'. Hill
and Coffman have both cleared 7'6, but Hill has been over the height three times and Coffman
only twice.
