Class A Boys Individual Event Predictions

100 M	1. Brandon Belcher	Williamson
	2. Chris Klemm Wheeling Central
	3. R.J. Beach Clay-Battelle
	4. Brad Anderson	Williamstown
	5. Matt Hickman	St. Marys
	6. Steven Viola	Gilmer
Belcher was the winner last year, has the best time, and has the best series of times. Klemm
has looked very good late in the season. Beach has a better overall series than Klemm, but
I gave Klemm the edged based on the Regional victory. Anderson has a better top time than
Beach and could move as high as second. Hickman has a good series of times, as does Viola.
Travis Dill, Eric Rose, and Justin Hartman are the most likely to break this group up.

200 M	1. Brandon Belcher	Williamson
	2. Chris Klemm Wheeling Central
	3. R.J. Beach Clay-Battelle
	4. Philip Thompson	Notre Dame
	5. Donald Butcher	St. Marys
	6. Steve Viola Gilmer
Again, Belcher is the defending champion, has the best time, and has the best series of times.
Klemm beat Beach in the Regional in this one as well, but he also has a better overall series
than Beach. Beach does have a better top time, though. Thompson and Butcher are very
close. Thompson has a better series, but they're almost all hand-times. Butcher's two best
times are converted hand-times as well. Thompson does have the fastest recorded electronic
time between the two. Viola gets the nod over Matt Hickman due to taking the LKC title in
a close race. Eric Rose adn Dustin Kizer may also be factors.

400 M	1. Philip Thompson	Notre Dame
	2. Donald Butcher	St. Marys
	3. Robbie Sherrard	Charleston Catholic
	4. Ben Yoke South Harrison
	5. David Orejuela	Doddridge
	6. Philip Erickson	Bishop Donahue
Thompson has won just about every meet with relative ease, being able to look around to see
just how hard he has to run to win. Butcher was 2nd last year, and his top 3 times are very
comparable to Thompson. How will Thompson react when there's actually somebody there? That's
the question. Sherrard has the only other sub-52 in the group. Yoke edged Orejuela by 0.08
at the Regional. That's his only run that I've seen, so I have no reason to think he can't
do it again. Orejuela has run the open only three times, all between 52.6 and 52.94.
Erickson is the only other runner in the field with multiple runs under 54. Scott Droginske,
Corey Good, and David Martin each have one clocking under 54. Doddridge could pull Orejuela
from this event and put him on any number of relays.

800 M	1. David Orejuela	Doddridge
	2. Robbie Sherrard	Charleston Catholic
	3. Chad Henson Williamstown
	4. Levi Grandt Doddridge
	5. Troy Wilsoncroft	Doddridge
	6. David Matherly	Charleston Catholic
Orejuela has the best top time and the best series of times. However, Sherrard did beat him
in their only head-to-head matchup at the Gazette Relays. Henson has a pair of 2:06 runs
and a 2:07 giving him the next best series. Grandt has the 3rd best time of the group, but
his series isn't quite as good as Henson's. Wilsoncroft has a pair of 2:07 runs and was a
placer last year. Matherly has a 2:07 and a pair of 2:08's. Robbie Peters and Phil Erickson
are the most likely candidates to come in and steal a spot.

1600 M	1. David Orejuela	Doddridge
	2. Levi Grandt Doddridge
	3. Chad Henson Williamstown
	4. Jesse Templeton	St. Marys
	5. James Sheridan	Charleston Catholic
	6. Adam Barker Paden City
Orejuela's best time is 7 seconds ahead of anyone else. He has four runs under 4:40, while
no one else has more than two. He also knocked off Andrew Benford at the LKC Conference
meet. Grandt is the only other runner to have gone under 4:40, and he's done it twice.
Henson has a pair of times better than the rest of the field's best, and he beat Grandt
once earlier in the season. Templeton has the next best time and the next best series.
Sheridan is only slightly off Templeton on the series. Barker has four runs under 5:00.
Dustin Hall, Sean Droginske, and John Lowther have also run under 5:00.

3200 M	1. Levi Grandt Doddridge
	2. David Orejuela	Doddridge
	3. Dustin Hall St. Marys
	4. James Sheridan	Charleston Catholic
	5. Lucas Warner	Tucker
	6. Andrew Blair	Charleston Catholic
Grandt has the only sub-10 run in the group, and he's got three of them, including a 9:49
at the Gazette Relays. Orejuela has a 10 gap on Hall and was a 4th place State Cross Country
finisher. Hall has three runs under 10:20. Sheridan has five runs better than the rest of
the field's best. Warner has the next best time and the next best series of times. He also
just missed out on being All-State in cross Country. Blair has the next best time, but his
fastest run of the year came in the first meet. He'll need to be in that area to hold this
spot. Andrew Graves and Sean Droginske also have gone under 11:00.

110 HH	1. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison
	2. Jordan Goode	Williamstown
	3. Eddie Aspy Notre Dame
	4. Ross Elder Williamstown
	5. Sam Adams St. Marys
	6. Donovan Bregg	East Hardy
Nottingham has the best time and the best series of times. Goode is within 0.2 seconds of
Nottingham across the board, so Nottingham cannot falter or the spot will be gone. Aspy has
the next best series. However, his best five times all came April 21st or before. Elder has
looked good late in the season and may move up. Bregg has a slightly better series than
Adams. Adams was slightly faster at the regional meet. This one could go either way.

300 IH	1. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison
	2. Eddie Aspy Notre Dame
	3. Billy Kelley	Pocahontas
	4. Chris Martin Wheeling Central
	5. Benji Powers	Williamstown
	6. Kevin McCoy Buffalo
Nottingham has at least five runs under 41 seconds. No one else has more than one. Aspy
has at least five runs under 42. However, as in the 110 Highs, his five best times came
early in the season, this time all April 13th or before. Kelley has one sub-42 and two in
the low 42's. Martin has a 42 flat and a very low 42. Powers has a pair of runs under 43.
McCoy has the next best sreis, with four runs under 44. Trying to sneak in will be
Josh Nolan, Trent Walker, Matt Craddock, and Sam Adams.

4x100 M	1. Williamstown
	2. Wheeling Central
	3. St. Marys
	4. Pocahontas
	5. South Harrison
	6. Clay-Battelle
This one should be pretty tight. Williamstown and Wheeling Central are very close.
Williamstown has a slightly better series. St. Marys has a better series than Pocahontas.
Pocahontas has a better series than South Harrison and beat them in the Regional. Clay-
Battelle could conceivably finish as high as fourth, but they won't get to run head-to-head
with the other group. Williamson will also be trying to sneak in from the first heat.
Charleston Catholic is in the mix as well.

4x200 M	1. Wheeling Central
	2. South Harrison
	3. Williamstown
	4. Doddridge
	5. St. Marys
	6. Pocahontas
Wheeling Central doesn't have the best top time, but they do show a better overall series.
South Harrison has the best top time and could take the event. Williamstown and Doddridge
are very close, but Williamstown has a slightly better top time, and a better overall series.
St. Marys could definitely move up. They're not far off Doddridge and Williamstown.
Pocahontas is over 0.8 behind St. Marys' best time and over 0.8 ahead of the next team's
best time. Moorefield and Charleston catholic can definitely be factors also. Moorefield
beat Pocahontas at the Regional Meet.

4x400 M	1. Charleston Catholic
	2. Doddridge
	3. Williamstown
	4. Wheeling Central
	5. St. Marys
	6. South Harrison
Charleston Catholic appears to have the most upward potential in this event. I can come up
with a 3:33 for them. Doddridge gets the edge over Williamstown because Williamstown will
have to try to do it from the first heat. There's also the possibility that Doddridge could
put David Orejuela into this relay, which would possibly move them into the role of favorite
in the event. Wheeling Central is the only other team in the field to have been under 3:40.
St. Marys could do some things with kids that could really make this relay a threat to win.
South Harrison has the next best time in the event, and they did it at the Regional meet.
Greenbrier West, Wirt, and Pocahontas will be trying to grab places.

4x800 M	1. Charleston Catholic
	2. St. Marys
	3. Doddridge
	4. Greenbrier West
	5. Pocahontas
	6. Pendleton
Charleston Catholic looks like they can pull together a group that can go in the low 8:30's.
St. Marys can probably get into the mid 8:30's. Doddridge likely can't go much under 8:40
unless they move David Orejuela onto this unit. If they make that move, they become the
favorite. Greenbrier West has the next best time and the next best series of times. They
almost beat Doddridge at the Gazette Relays. Pocahontas and Pendleton are the only other
two teams that have been under 9:00. I believe that Williamstown can put together a team
that would run under 9:00, but I don't know if they'll try it or not. Wheeling Central,
Bishop Donahue, and Richwood will be trying to grab spots as well.

Shuttle	1. Williamstown
	2. St. Marys
	3. South Harrison
	4. Pocahontas
	5. East Hardy
	6. Wirt
Williamstown is the only team to have gone under 60 seconds. St. Marys can probably challenge
them if Donald Butcher is added to the relay. South Harrison has a pair of runs under 61.
Pocahontas has the next best time and the next best series. East Hardy was only 0.04 behind
Pocahontas at the regional. Wirt has been slightly faster than East Hardy but hasn't been
there as often. Buffalo, Doddridge, Mount Hope, and Bishop Donahue could all slip in and
take spots. As with the other relays, if Doddridge were to move David Orejuela onto this
one (he was last year), they're in the mix.

L Jump	1. Brand Anderson	Williamstown
	2. Philip Thompson	Notre Dame
	3. Travis Dill Buffalo
	4. Chris Green Williamstown
	5. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	6. Jerry Jones Williamson
Anderson have at least five 20' jumps and has the best top jump of the group. Thompson won
the event at the Gazette Relays, so he can definitely jump at this venue. He's also the only
other jumper with more than one 20' leap. Dill surpassed 20' at his regional meet and had
a 19'8.5 at the Gazette Relays. Green has the next best series of jumps. Edgell has a better
top jump than Green, but his series isn't as strong. Jones beat Dill at the Gazette Relays,
so he could easily move up. Cory Foster and Dane King (placed last year) could also be
factors.

H Jump	1. Clint Wilson	Bishop Donahue
	2. Arron Lantz South Harrison
	3. Ross Elder Williamstown
	4. Cuylor Edgell	Doddridge
	5. Sam Adams St. Marys
	6. Brian Yahn Wheeling Central
Wilson has the only 6'6 jump of the bunch. He also has a pair of 6'4's and a pair of 6'2's.
Lantz has a 6'5 and a 6'4 and a pair of 6'2's. No one else has been higher than 6'0.
Elder and Edgell both have a pair of 6'0 jumps, but Elder has won the last two head-to-head
meetings. Adams is the only other jumper with more than one 5'10 clearing. Yahn looks to
hold off Cory Foster, David Grant, and Ken Barrows who have also cleared 5'10. Also of note,
two-time defending champion Jeff Petitt of Midland Trail will not be in this meet as it
appears that Midland Trail disbanded their track team.

Shot	1. Tad Light St. Marys
	2. Travis Malone	St. Marys
	3. Val Culp Mount Hope
	4. Dustin Fox Gilmer
	5. Desmond Newsome	Mount Hope
	6. Derek Ludolph	St. Marys
Light has the furthest throw in the group and by far the best series of throws. Malone popped
a 48' throw at the Regional Meet, and his top two throws are in his last two meets. Culp's
top two throws aren't as good as Malone, but the rest of his series is better, so he could
move up. Fox has a pair of 45' throws. Newsome has a 45' and a 44'. Ludolph is the only
other one to top 43', and he's done it three times. Nathan Yokum, Shawn Murphy, Greg
Underwood, and Aaron Pugh will also be vying for spots.

Discus	1. Zach Ueltschy	Valley Wetzel
	2. Greg Reed Doddridge
	3. Shawn Murphy	Richwood
	4. Justin Slider	Valley Wetzel
	5. Aaron Pugh Pocahontas
	6. Val Culp Mount Hope
Ueltschy has five throws better than anyone else's best, and he finished 2nd last year. Reed
is the only other thrower to top 140', and he has at least five throws better than anyone
else's best. Murphy is the only other thrower to top 130', and he's hit 135'. Slider is
coming on strong late in the season and he could move up. Pugh actually has a better series
than Murphy or Slider, but isn't as strong on the top end. Culp has the next best series
and could also move up. Anthony Lauer, Greg Underwood, and Pat DePuy will also be factors.

P Vault	1. Seth Beckner	Buffalo
	2. Ryan Flowers	Williamstown
	3. Matt Craddock	Mount Hope
	4. Benji Powers	Williamstown
	5. Michael Cottle	Mount Hope
	6. Nathan Houlton	South Harrison
Beckner is the top vaulter in the State, regardless of class. He has three 13'6 vaults to
go along with his 14'4 vault. Flowers has a 13'6 vault and a pair of 12'6 vaults. Craddock
has a 13' vault and won the event last year. Powers has a pair of 13' vaults and a 12'6 vault
Cottle has a pair of 12' vaults and placed 2nd last year. Houlton has topped 12' three times,
giving him the edge over Cuylor Edgell who has only cleared the height twice.

High Point Predicitons
1. David Orejuela	Doddridge 30
2. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison 23.50
2. Levi Grandt Doddridge 23.50
4. Philip Thompson	Notre Dame 22
5. Chris Klemm Wheeling Central	20.50
