Class A Boys Individual Event Predictions

100 M	1. Chris Fleming	Greenbrier West
	2. Daniel Sine East Hardy
	3. Josh McKee Wheeling central
	4. Tommy Johnson	Williamstown
	5. Pat Zadrozny Wheeling Central
	6. Alan Tracewell	Williamstown
Fleming is the defending champion and when fully healthy nearly unbeatable
in Class A. He may not be 100%, but he probably doesn't have to be. Things
get very tight aster this. Sine is coming back from injury and looked strong
while somewhat cruising at the regional. McKee has the next best series of
times. Johnson has a strong series of hand-times to his credit. Zadrozny
placed last year and could easily move up. Tracewell is very dangerous
and is generally right on the heels of Johnson. Realistically, there are
about 11 that could place in this event.

200 M	1. Josh McKee Wheeling Central
	2. Chris Fleming	Greenbrier West
	3. Tommy Johnson	Williamstown
	4. Erick Novick Wheeling Central
	5. Alan Tracewell	Williamstown
	6. Daniel Sine East Hardy
The 200 will also be very tight. Fleming may not be in good enough shape
yet to pull off the double, so we've gone with McKee for the win. Johnson
finished 3rd last year in Class AA. Novick can and has run with and beaten
McKee, so he's a threat as well. Tracewell again is generally right on the
heels of Johnson. Since doesn't have the series that some of the others
have, but we felt we had to put him in the mix because he could win the event.
Meadow Bridge's Chris Neely is right on the cusp and could easily place.

400 M	1. Ryan Jobes Williamstown
	2. Chris Neely Meadow Bridge
	3. Jeremy Rudolph	East Hardy
	4. Wayne Ritter Doddridge
	5. Nathan Tucker	Wheeling Central
	6. Kyle Anderson	Tygarts Valley
Jobes has been dominant all season in this event. His 5th best time is
better than anyone else's best by 1.3 seconds. We took Neely 2nd based
on his strong regional performance. Rudolph has the 2nd best overall time
and actually has a better series than Neely. Ritter beat Neely at the Gazette
Relays but does not have a strong series of times. Tucker had a good regoinal
showing as did Anderson, who finished ahead of Ritter. Also watch out for
Derek Banks of Valley Fayette.

800 M	1. Ryan Jobes Williamstown
	2. John Matherly	Charleston Catholic
	3. Jeremy Rudolph	East Hardy
	4. Bobby Herron Wheeling Central
	5. Cris Sommerville	Wirt
	6. Chad Henson Williamstown
Jobes ran a 1:58 indoor in March. He's yet to go under 2:00 this spring,
but no other competitor has been under 2:04. Matherly finished 3rd last
season and is starting to show similar form. Rudolph has the 2nd best time
but sat out a portion of the late season with injury and may not be fully
back to speed yet. Herron actually shows a better series than Matherly
or Rudolph but may not be able to match their footspeed. His 1600 battle
with Ryan Jobes earlier in the day could also play a role. Things get really
messy after the first four, with seven or eight runners having legitimate shots
at cracking the lineup. We went with Sommerville and Henson by a hair over
Phil Erickson of Bishop Donahue and Ryan Howard of Cameron, who placed
last year.

1600 M	1. Bobby Herron Wheeling Central
	2. Ryan Jobes Williamstown
	3. Nathan Rittenhouse	Pocahontas
	4. Tyler Morando	Wheeling Central
	5. Corey Brown Williamstown
	6. David Orejuela	Doddridge
We took Herron over Jobes in this one. Herron will be fresher with Jobes
having run the 400 earlier. Herron also won most of his races by large
margins while running the outstanding times, which would indicate that he
can likely go faster. Jobes, however has shown an ability to come back from
a fast 400 (50.51) with an outstanding 1600 (4:27.9) in the same meet. He
could easily reverse our selection and take the event for the second straight
year. No one else has been within 15 seconds of these two. Rittenhouse is
the only other runner in the field that has been under 4:50, and he's done it
three times. Morando has only run the event once that we've seen, and we
think that if he can run a 10:03 3200 that he can go faster in the 1600
than what was shown at the regional. Brown has been a little faster than
Orejuela on the top end of their respective series. Wheeling Central's
Sean Droginske has a fster top time than either but hasn't been as fast
as often.

3200 M	1. Bobby Herron Wheeling Central
	2. Nathan Rittenhouse	Pocahontas
	3. Tyler Morando	Wheeling Central
	4. Corey Brown Williamstown
	5. Jesse Templeton	St. Marys
	6. James Sheridan	Charleston Catholic
Herron has only run this event twice, and from what we've seen, he may only
be scratching the surface. Rittenhouse has the fastest time in the field
and may be able to get too far out for Herron to catch. Morando has easily
the next best series. He's run 10:03 while no one else has been under 10:38.
After that, you have 5 guys within 11 seconds fighting for 3 spots. Brown
is the only one of the bunch to be under 10:40 and he's done it twice.
Templeton has only run the event twice this year, but he's done well each
time and he placed last year. Sheridan looks to snare the 6th spot.
Williamstown's Danny Smicker has a better top time than Sheridan, but his
top 3 runs all came April 8th or earlier. Bishop Donahue's Sean Nolan is
also a threat.

110 HH	1. Eric Novick Wheeling Central
	2. Brandon Boone	Greenbrier West
	3. Cody Boyd Williamstown
	4. John Wilson Williamstown
	5. Clarence Smith	Valley Fayette
	6. Andy Nottingham	South Harrison
Novick is easily the favorite in the event. He won last year and has far
and away the best series this year. Boone has four runs under 16 seconds
while no one else has done it more than once. Boyd snared 3rd last year and
has the next best series this year. Wilson is quite capable of beating
his teammate and could do so in this meet. Smith has the next best series
with 4 runs under 16.5. Nottingham has been under 16 but has also had some
meets where he has struggled mightily.

300 IH	1. Eric Novick Wheeling Central
	2. Eric Kronberg	Parkersburg Catholic
	3. Josh Brookover	Williamstown
	4. Cody Boyd Williamstown
	5. Clarence Smith	Valley Fayette
	6. Brandon Boone	Greenbrier West
Novick is again the clear favorite. He's got the best time this season by
nearly a second and won the event last year as well. Kronberg has been
in the low 41's in each of the last two meets. Brookover was 2nd last year
and could knock of Kronberg for 2nd. Boyd and Smith have similar series,
but Boyd's regional run was better, so we gave him the nod. Boone ran a
strong regional race as well. Andy Nottingham of South Harrison and Jonathan
Burns of Pocahontas have also been under 43 seconds.

4x100 M	1. Williamstown
	2. Wheeling Central
	3. Valley Fayette
	4. East Hardy
	5. Pocahontas
	6. St. Marys
Williamstown has the best time in the event by a half-second, but their
top two runs came early in the season. Wheeling Central could knock them
off in this event. Valley Fayette has five clockings under 47 seconds.
East Hardy had a strong regional showing giving them a slight edge over
Pocahontas, who has a better top time. St. Marys has the next best series.

4x200 M	1. Wheeling Central
	2. Williamstown
	3. Valley Fayette
	4. Pocahontas
	5. St. Marys
	6. Moorefield
Wheeling Central's regional run was extremely impressive, running a time
that would be competitive in Class AAA. Williamstown has easily the next
best time. They will have to run well to hold off a rapidly improving
Valley Fayette squad. Pocahontas has been under 1:37 twice. St. Marys
has been under 1:39 twice. Moorefield won their region and may be able
to go faster. Greenbrier West would also be a threat.

4x400 M	1. Williamstown
	2. Doddridge
	3. Wheeling Central
	4. Pocahontas
	5. Charleston Catholic
	6. St. Marys
Williamstown has far and away the top time in this event. They have five
runs faster than anyone else's best. Doddridge, Wheeling Central, and
Pocahontas could each run 3:38 or better if all the components run well.
Charleston Catholic actually has the 2nd best time in the group, but they
do not appear to have the upward potential of some of the other teams.
St. Marys has gone 6 seconds faster than any of the remaining teams.

4x800 M 1. Wheeling Central
	2. Williamstown
	3. Charleston Catholic
	4. St. Marys
	5. Doddridge
	6. East Hardy
Wheeling Central has gone 7 seconds faster than anyone else, and likely
can go faster if pressed. Williamstown, Charleston Catholic, and St. Marys
can put together squads that can go in the low 8:40's or better. Doddridge
won their region and can likely go much faster. East Hardy can add Jeremy
Rudolph to their relay and chop a good 20 seconds off their time. Bishop
Donaue, Gilmer, and Pocahontas could also break into the scoring.

Shuttle	1. Williamstown
	2. Valley Fayette
	3. Wheeling Central
	4. St. Marys
	5. Doddridge
	6. Greenbrier West
Williamstown has 5 runs over a second faster than anyone else's best. Valley
Fayette looks like a very solid 2nd with three runs under 1:02.5 Wheeling Central
St. Marys, Doddridge, and Greenbrier West look very close together, and their
finish order could be rearranged in just about any order.

L Jump	1. Bryan Spitzer	Greenbrier West
	2. Daniel Sine East Hardy
	3. Brad Anderson	Williamstown
	4. Josh McKee Wheeling Central
	5. Zane Bodnar Williamstown
	6. Jacob Lilly Gilmer
Spitzer's regional jump was the only one we've seen for him this season, but
what a jump it was...9" further than anyone else has jumped this season.
Sine has a better top jump and a slightly better series than Anderson.
McKee appears to be consistently hitting in the low 19's. Bodnar had an
excellent leap in March and could hit that mark again. Lilly placed 3rd
a year ago and is obviously a threat. Tucker's Cory Gsell also placed
last year. Adam Young, also of Tucker, has the 5th best top jump in the
field and could also fit into the scoring mix.

H Jump 1. Matt Beiter Bishop Donahue
	2. Jeff Petitt Midland Trail
	3. Cory Gsell Tucker
	4. John Wilson Williamstown
	5. Charles Copleland	Valley Fayette
	6. Cory Foster St. Marys
Beiter is the only jumper to clear 6'0 this year, and he's got at least
five leaps of 6'2 or better, including a 6'7. Petitt was the only other
jumper to hit 5'10 in his region. Gsell and Wilson have cleared 5'10 with
Gsell having the better regional jump. Copeland hasn't hit 5'10 yet, but
we gave him the nod over Foster based on last season's State Meet performance.

Discus	1. Josh Burns St. Marys
	2. Tyrone Powell	Mount Hope
	3. Patrick Hart Buffalo
	4. Todd Cupp St. Marys
	5. Jeffrey Wilkins	East Hardy
	6. John Wilson Williamstown
Burns is the only thrower with more than two 140' tosses, and he's done
it at least five times. Powell nad Hart have very similar series, with
Powell having slightly better marks at the top end. Cupp had a breakout
throw at the conference meet, and if he matches it, could win the event.
Wilkins has two throws of 137 or better, but his overall series is not as
strong as some others in the field. Wilson has four throws over 125' to
gain the last spot.

Shot	1. Tim Williams Doddridge
	2. Tyrone Powell	Mount Hope
	3. Seth Butler Gilmer
	4. Todd Cupp St. Marys
	5. Brian McCulley	Bishop Donahue
	6. Bruce Whitlock	Pendleton
Williams is coming off an injury that occurred at the Gazette Relays. If
he's at 100%, he'll be hard to beat. If he's even a little off, Powell
will be ready to pounce. Mount Hope throwers have a history of performing
very well at the State Meet. Butler has three throws of at least 49'. Cupp
has three throws better than the top throw of any of the remaining throwers.
McCulley is the only other thrower in the field to top 47'. Whitlock
placed last year and has the next best throw to give him the edge over
Buffalo's Patrick Hart who had a further regional toss.

P Vault	1. Willie Sarine	Doddridge
	2. Justice Powers	Williamstown
	3. Wesley Billups	Williamstown
	4. Matt Craddock	Mount Hope
	5. Rusty Fonner Wheeling Central
	6. Michael Cottle	Mount Hope
Sarine is the only vaulter in the field to go over 13' and he's done it at
least five times, including a 13'6 vault. Powers has a trio of 12'6 vaults
while no one else has gone higher than 11'6. Billups has a pair of 11'6
vaults to his credit. Craddock and Fonner have each cleared 11'0, but
Craddock has done it three times and Fonner only twice. Three vaulters
have cleared 10'6. Cottle beat teammate Dustin Kizer on misses at the regional
so we gave him the spot. Bishop Donahue's Andrew Grazik has cleared 10'6
also, but did not do so at his regional meet.
