Coach Mike Taylor sent word that a couple of the suggestions given to the WVSSAC have been adopted for the upcoming season.

The first proposal to gain acceptance from the WVSSAC was the proposal that recommended regions having 0-4 teams qualify 1 team for the state meet, regions having 5-8 teams qualify 2 teams, and regions having 9 or more teams qualify 3 teams.

This particular proposal will likely not make a major difference in the number of teams or competitors at the state meet, but it would have gotten one more team to the meet last season.

The second proposal to gain acceptance was slightly modified from the original proposal. The original proposal had the top ten individuals exclusive of qualifying teams advancing to the state meet. The modified proposal has the top eight individuals inclusive of qualifying teams. This is an increase from the top five individuals inclusive that was in effect for this past season.

This proposal will include up to three extra individuals for each region. That gives the possibility of 20 additional athletes participating at the state meet.

If you didn't take the time to read over the original proposals, we recommend you do so. Read over them. If you are not a coach, make sure your coach reads over them. All are fine proposals and would make the state meet a far more competitive and exciting event. We all need to do as much as possible to get as many people involved in the state meet as humanly possible.
