Coach Messenger from Preston County let us in on a little
of what went on at the January 16 Coaches' Clinic/Meeting.

We met and worked on the final proposal to be presented to
the Rules Committee about suggested changes for the upcoming
'99 season in Cross Country. At the previous meeting a rough
draft was worked on and finished to present to the
Association on the 16th. The proposal outlines and qualifies
eight (8) changes for qualifiying runners to the state meets
and the regional meets. Research was done on the surrounding
states and other states throughout the U.S. along with
suggestions submitted by college coaches both in-state and out that felt these changes were needed to bring WV's State and Regional meets more in line with the nation as a whole.
These will be submitted to the Rules Committee and WVSSAC and
to the Board of Appeals for their approval.

Preseason Clinics are being discussed with some of the local
colleges for the coaches and athletes to attend.

A governing body was elected to represent us along with a
Secretary and Treasurer. No President was elected as we felt
we needed good representation as the number of members
continue to grow rather fast.

Governing Body: Region I Kristine Alverez
		Region II Paul Martin
		Region III Scott Welch
		Region IV Paul Hodges
		Region V John Rowlan
		Secretary David Evans
		Treasurer Mike Taylor

Wish I could remember all that were in attendence, but as you
can see we do have the state covered with some rather
noteable Coaches at the helm. The success of the State Meet
was discussed and applauded as it is beginning to attract
attention and be a financial success as well.
