Location: Cabell Midland High School

Predicted AAA Girls Team Results
This could be the closest team race of the day. I have the top 3 separated by just 11 points. Most
people seem to think that this is simply a Preston/University battle, but Hampshire has a very strong
squad. I have Preston taking the win by just two points over University, so it won't take much of
a jump by anyone for that to reverse. Hampshire has a couple girls that have been a bit up and down
during the season. If they all have an "up" day, the Eastern Panhandle could take home the title for
the 2nd year in a row. Morgantown looked very good at the Regional and could squeeze into the top 3,
but I have trouble seeing them knocking off Preston or University. I have Hurricane ten points ahead
of Parkersburg for the 5th spot.
1. Preston 60
2. University 62
3. Hampshire 71
4. Morgantown 93
5. Hurricane 121
6. Parkersburg 131
7. Bridgeport 159
8. Buckhannon-Upshur 223
9. George Washington 224
10. Greenbrier East 285
Predicted AAA Girls Top 25
Letitia Propst looks to close her High School career the same way she opened it...with a State
Championship. She comes in as a pretty clear favorite having not been beaten by an in-state
athlete all season. She hasn't completely obliterated the field in a lot of meets, though, so
there is hope for others. Alyssa Scherich has been very strong all season and has great closing
speed. Kaitlyn Workman has been strong all season as well and has looked very good late. Morganne
Phillips has finished as close to Propst as anyone. Madison Hill missed the early part of the
season with an injury but seems to have come back strong late in the season. I was very tempted
to drop her into the 2nd spot. I'm a believer. Sydney Pineault had been missing since September
11th prior to her Regional run, but it was quite a run. Amelia Paladino has been very strong all
year. Jorden Thornton scored a top 5 last year. Lindsey Hash looked very good early in the season
but seems to have really struggled late. She's got the potential to score a top 3, so I hated
to leave her out of the top 10. Ashley Shultz gets a narrow nod for the 10th spot. This was a
really tough set of picks. I could easily see most of this group in the top 10, so obviously,
these ladies are going to have to run well to accomplish it.
