Predicted A-AA Girls Team Results
Philip Barbour looks to be a solid favorite upon the return of Katie Mahoney. She had been highly ranked at the end of August, but had disappeared until the Regional Meet where she had a solid run. Inserting her back into the lineup gives Philip Barbour a very strong edge. Scott is in the running, though. Their pack mentality could reap benefits if they move up as a group. Shady Spring is a wild-card. Desiree Roseberry is a two-time All-State Performer. She hasn't run all year, but she's on their entrant list. If she runs and runs well, Shady will have a chance. Weir is very strong up front, but probably doesn't have the depth to win it. They'll have their hands full trying to hold off Oak Glen, St. Marys and Berkeley Springs. I have those four teams separated by just 11 points, so any order is certainly possible, as is moving into the top 3 for any of them.
1. Philip Barbour 70
2. Scott 97
3. Shady Spring 116
4. Weir 128
5. Oak Glen 132
6. St. Marys 137
7. Berkeley Springs 139
8. Charleston Catholic 174
9. Webster 228
10. Oak Hill 284

Predicted A-AA Girls Top 25
Sami Harris and Sarah McCauley have been the ones to beat all season. They've squared off twice with McCauley winning the first meeting and Harris the 2nd. McCauley missed a number of meets in the middle of the season (I'm assuming volleyball), but I'm giving her the edge. Her closing speed may prove to be the difference. It's tempting to just call this a two-way battle, but Maggie Drazba is the defending champion, and her time on the Regional Course at Cameron was faster than Harris had run on the same course (essentially) just five days earlier. It really looks like those three are on a slightly different level than the rest. Katie Jan has looked very strong late in the season. Erica Walker has been a little up and down, but she's generally pretty strong. Alexis Virtue and Kristen Mastrantoni have been steadily moving up the rankings, running in tandem at most meets. Bethany Carroll had a rough regional run, but has been pretty solid late in the season and looked very good at the Times Invitational. Chelsea East has been steady. Sarah Phillips owns some victories over East. There's a lot of room for movement in the field. I could easily see at least the first 16 of this group.
