Meet: AAA Boys State Meet Predictions
Location: Cabell Midland High School
Date: To be held October 30, 2010
Predicted AAA Boys Team Results
This is the highlight race of the day in both the team and individual categories. Cabell
Midland simply appears to have too much depth. That gives them a little more room for error.
I actually have Jefferson ahead through four runners, which means that if Jefferson gets
a big-time run from Andrew Milliron or Jimmy Munnis, they could take the win. I don't really
think anyone else has a chance. Parkersburg will try to hold off Preston and Fairmont Senior
for 3rd. Those three positions could go any which way. Huntington could actually have a shot
to move up as high as third. They've been hindered by a lingering injury to Sam Smith.
1. Cabell Midland 51
2. Jefferson 63
3. Parkersburg 119

Predicted Boys AAA Top 25
I don't really think there are predictions for 1st through 4th. I think it's more like 1A, 1B, 1C,
and 1D. Dayton McVicker still hasn't run an all-out race this year, which makes him a little hard
to gauge. However, the ease with which he pulled away from Brandon Doughty and Eric Graf in the last
mile of the Times Invitational left quite an impression. I tend to think that McVicker is the hardest
working one of the group. I think Jacob Burcham is the most talented of the group. He's run some
incredible times in some big out-of-state meets. Pelliccioni won the meet two years ago, and I
have to believe he's better now than he was then. He's certainly a threat to win. Brandon Doughty
is the defending champion and probably the gutsiest runner in the group. He also has great closing
speed, so if these guys are going to beat him, they probably want to get rid of him before they
hit the track. He'll probably also be running with a chip on his shoulder because there's pretty
much nobody out there picking him to win. For anyone outside these four to win, this would have
to turn into a tactical race and be executed very poorly. Eric Graf has a pair of wins over Doughty
and has really stepped forward this year. Tyler Salmons didn't run the Regional meet, but I don't
think that's going to hurt him any. He's been very fast over the 2nd half of the season. Peter
Schwarzenberg was stellar at the Geico Classic, but he's not looked quite as good in the 2nd
half of the season. Brody Born has been strong late in the season. Joseph Kirtner didn't have
an exceptional Regional run, but he's been very strong all season. Jordan Brown-Stobbe has also
been very strong late in the season. Any of these top 25 scoring a top 10 wouldn't be a huge
surprise. It's going to be very, very fun to watch.
