2010
LKC Cross Country Championships
At
4-H Campgrounds in Mineral Wells
Wednesday,
Oct. 13, 2010
Dear Cross Country Coach,
Because of the conflict with
the WVU-South Florida home game on Thursday, Oct. 14, the meet was moved up a
day in order to secure the services of the River City Runners and the dozens of
other helpers needed to put on a championship meet. I hope this change does
cause you any major problems. Below is a summary of the days’ events:
Date: Wednesday, October 13
Schedule: 5:00 p.m. Varsity
Girls’ Race
5:45 p.m. Varsity
Boys Race
6:30 p.m. Awards
Ceremony
Awards: Medals for 1-24 in each race. 1-12 will make
the LKC’s All-Conference team and will be honored at
the conference’s banquet in May. 13-24 will be named to the 2nd team. There
will also be a runner-up team plaque awarded in each race. The championship
teams will receive their trophies at the banquet in May as well.
Course: Is the same as the Chick-fil-A
Invitational and the MOV Challenge course. Pretty much flat
with some rolling inclines and one small hill.
Miscellaneous: 1) There will be no separate JV races. Run
all of your athletes in the varsity race, your first 7 to finish will the only
ones that will count in the scoring. We will be using a computer scoring
system. Please submit your entries to TimeToEnter.com by 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct.
11.
You may fax your entries to
304-375-6194 or 304-485-5122 by Saturday, Oct. 9, if needed. 2) Admission ($5
per person) will be charged at the front gate for all spectators – Coaches make sure you have your coach’s SSAC
pass to gain admittance. A concession stand will be made available beginning at
4 p.m. and Image One will provide one-of-a-kind LKC t-shirts for sale so please
ask your runners to bring some extra cash with them.

Just in case I don’t get an
opportunity to talk to you on race day, thanks in advance for all you do for
our conference and for the sport of cross country. Regardless of what some
people in the media may think, it is the fastest growing sport in our area and
that is because of dedicated coaches like yourself.
