LAST MINUTE REMINDERS FOR

THE 21th ANNUAL TIMES INVITATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY MEET

 

 The Times Invitational Cross-Country meet will be held October 11, 2008 at Apple Valley Golf Course in Fairmont, WV.   We now have 18 high school teams participating in the combined AA and AAA meet as well as nearly 400 middle school athletes.  The meet is sponsored by the TIMES-WEST VIRGINIAN , Fairmont Senior High School and the West Fairmont Middle School Cross-Country Teams.   

AWARDS Plaques will be awarded to the High School Team Champion and Runner-up in both boy’s and girl’s varsity races.  The first 15 individuals in each varsity race will also receive awards.  There will be no awards for the high school J-V races.  Trophies will be awarded to the Middle School Team Champion, Runner-up AND third Place in both boy’s and girl’s varsity races.  The first 20 individuals in each varsity race as well as the top 7 boys and top 7 girls in the J-V races will also receive awards.  .  Refreshments will be provided for race participants. Complete results will be distributed during the awards ceremony and will be posted on www.runwv.com.

 COURSE The High School course is approximately 5000m while the Middle School course is 2.06miles consisting of some hills and is mostly grassy.  The Varsity and JV races will be run separately in both boy’s and girl’s competition.  Boy’s and Girl’s JV is a combined race (except for the Junior Highs). We ask that coaches remind all spectators to remain behind the flags and that once the course is closed ALL ATHLETES must remain off the course.

 ENTRY FEE  The entry fee for the high school race is $35.00 per team or $60.00 for both boy’s and girl’s teams.   The entry fee for the middle school race is $30.00 per team or $50.00 for both boy’s and girl’s teams, please make checks payable to; Polar Bear Running Boosters. An admission charge of $4.00 for adults / $3.00 for will be applied for any student not in uniform.  All WVSSAC passes will be honored. 

  PARKING- Coaches PLEASE inform your parents and fans that 3 shuttle buses will begin running at 7:15 from Wal-Mart (Take a left and park in the lots toward Tygart Valley Cinema) and will run throughout the meet.  We have found over the last 3 years that this system works well and takes approximately 10 minutes transit time. Parking at the Apple Valley course will be limited to handicapped, coaches with equipment, and meet personnel. Cars parked along Apple Valley Road are subject to being towed.  School busses will unload at the site and then return to the Whitehall Church of Christ.

CONCESSIONS- We will offer a verity of snacks and drinks as well as limited number of “Times Invitational T-Shirts (come on you know we had to mention that) $10.00 for short sleeve and $15 for long sleeve.
