Course Layout
The course has been altered slightly for the high school
and drastically for the middle school races.
The race still starts on the track beside the Demolition Derby. During the first loop, you will NOT run in
front of the Extension Office, instead you will run along the top road and back
between the barns and back to the track.
On the second loop, all runners, high school and middle school, will run
the loop past the Extension Office and back to the upper road. The middle school will come off the upper
road and go back between the barns and to the track for the finish. The middle school will not run the bottom
section of the course. The high school
will come off the top road and proceed with the lower half of the course
similar to the past. As the runners come
out of the bottom, runners will go to the top road and finish on the track. The high school course can be viewed at http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=247471. The middle school course can be viewed at http://www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=247652. The distances on the USATF site are only
approximate, but from walking the course several times this past week, they are
fairly close.
Tents
With the limited parking on top of the hill and the
availability of shed and barn space, teams are asked to utilize those areas available
and leave your tents at home. You will
need to bring tarps to lie on the ground.
Entry Fees, Concessions and T-Shirts
An entry fee of $3.00 will be charged for all
spectators. The high school team will be
operating a concession stand. The middle
school team has a newly designed t-shirt for you to purchase.
Other notes of interest
The demolition derby area is very dangerous due to car
parts and other debris from the fair.
Please ask you athletes to avoid this area. The fairgrounds are being surveyed currently
and there are surveyor’s stakes numerous places around the fairgrounds, please
ask your athletes not to bother the stakes and to avoid these stakes. We have spent many hours working on the
course, but just like any cross country course there are places where the
athletes need to be careful. Please make
an attempt to walk the course to become familiar with our course.
Have safe travel and we will see you Saturday!
