Olympic Coach's Cross Country Clinic Still Has Openings

 

“The American Cross Country Revival: A Coaching Summit” to be held in Atlanta August 10&11th and featuring two-time US Olympic coach Joe Vigil still has seats remaining. The event, which qualifies attendees for USA Track & Field Level III credit, will focus on teaching high school and college cross country coaches and athletes of any level the secrets of winning at long distance running.

 

The lecture staff includes, in addition to Vigil who coached Olympic medalist Deena Kastor, two-time World Cross Country champion Craig Virgin; six-time NAIA National Coach of the year Scott Simmons; 2003 US National High School Coach of the Year Danny Green from the Woodlands in Texas; and international lecturer Will Freeman.

 

The summit covers topics such as the physiology of training distance runners, motivational techniques, peaking for championship events and nutrition.

 

The two-day event expects to draw coaches from throughout the Southeast as Vigil, one of the most respected coaches and lecturers in the US and the world, will be making his first appearance in Georgia.
