The Shady Spring High School Cross Country
team will be hosting the second annual Beaver Run Invitational on October 13,
2007 at Little Beaver State Park. The
course is set on the mountain top at the lake and runs through gravel roads,
grassy fields and a short section of pavement.
Much of the course is visible to spectators and there are several grassy
areas to sit and watch. There will be an
open race for adults, a middle school race (if enough interest), varsity races and
reserves races.

course

High School Teams: Only 7 runners will be permitted to run in the varsity races. Top 5 will count for team score. Individuals from incomplete teams will be
removed for team scoring. Unlimited
runners may run reserves race.

Course: The course starts out in the grass and follows
a gravel road down a hill for one-half mile and returns up the hill and around
the park to a paved road. The paved road is about 40 meters down and back where
the runners will enter the grassy fields of the park for another half mile or
so. A small wooded section is traveled for
a short stint and runners return to the gravel road at the end of the course. Middle schools will run a 3k course; adults
will run a slightly different course than the high schools.
*Awards for open race:
Open Race for Adults:
Men’s and women’s divisions – age
groups: 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-over. Adult runners must register before the race on
race day. Registration opens at 7:00am. One trophy will be awarded to the top finisher
overall in each division (men and women).
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be
given in each age group for each division.
Entry Fee: $10.00 per adult for open 5K (first 75 runners receive
complimentary T-shirt).
$25 per team ($50 per school
for both boys and girls), $5 per individual (if fewer than 5) and $2 for each
middle school runner. No charge for JV
runners who accompany a full team. Make

T-Shirts for
High School and Middle School runners will be sold near the finish line area.
