At least five runners with West Virginia ties competed in the USATF Cross Country Championships. In the Men's Open 12K, Josh Simpson (Oak Glen) finished 26th in 36:47. In the Women's Open 8K, Heather Bury-Parks (WVU) finished 45th in 29:40. In the Women's Open 4K, Jennifer Davis (Hampshire, WVU) finished 22nd in 13:26 and Sarah Ogle (St. Albans) finished 33rd in 13:45. In the Junior Women's 6K, Maria Dalzot (Morgantown) finished 25th in 22:24.
