Early Bird Invitational

Dear Cross Country Coaches,

The Bridgeport Indians would like to invite you to the Early Bird Invitational on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Watters Smith State Park. The course consists of rolling hills, wooded trails, and an excellent view of history. Spectators are able to see the majority of the course. Spikes can be worn.

Directions

To get to Watters Smith State Park, take I79 to exit 110 Lost Creek and follow the directional signs to West Milford, left on Duck Creek Road, go about 3 miles to the Park. Turn left at the pool and picnic shelter entrance. Approximately 7 miles from the interstate. Visitors traveling US 19 should turn off at West Milford and follow signs to the park. Approximately 3 miles.

Awards

The top 20 individuals in the middle school and high school varsity races will receive medals. The top 10 individuals in the junior varsity race will also receive medals. The team champion and runner-up in both the boy’s and girl’s middle school and high school varsity races will receive awards.

Entry Fee

The entry fee for the race is $25 per middle school or high school team or $40 for both boy’s and girl’s varsity teams. No charge for junior varsity runners. If only bringing individual runners (less than 5 for a full team), then the charge is $5 per runner. Make checks payable to Bridgeport High School and must be received prior to the race. A standard admission charge of $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for students will be applied to anyone not transporting a team of five or more in one vehicle. All WVSSAC passes will be honored.

Release Waiver

Watters Smith State Park, Bridgeport High and Middle Schools, and all sponsors are not responsible for any and all claims for injuries or damages which may result from participation in the race.

Concessions

Hot and cold concessions will be available as well as the Early Bird T-shirt. The Watters Smith State Park Pool will also be open from 11AM-7PM the day of the race. Their admission charge is $3.00 for adults over 12 years old and $2.00 for children under 12 years old. Please enjoy the summer sun with a cold splash.

Entry Fee for the Open Race

$5.00 entry fee for all Registration, which may also be done the day of the race. Make checks payable to Bridgeport High School. The official T-shirt for the Early Bird Invitational will be for sale the day of the race. To preorder a T-shirt, please email me at jahartley@hotmail.com . An admission charge of $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for students will be applied to anyone staying for the middle school/ high school races. All WVSSAC passes will be honored.

Awards for the Open Race

Awards will be given to the top 3 overall female and male finishers and the top 3 finishers in each of the following age groups: 14-under, 15-19. 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-over. The awards ceremony for the open race will take place approximately 8:45 AM. Post drinks and refreshments will be available immediately following the race.
