Meet: AAA Boys State Meet Predictions Location: Mineral Wells, WV Date: To be held November 2, 2002 Predicted AAA Boys Team Results Cabell Midland has once again proved to be the dominant force in AAA Cross Country. They have plowed through all in-state competition with ease and should do so again. The battle for second place will be much more interesting. Parkersburg South has been ranked second most of the season, but we've learned that they will be without the services of Michael Antolini whose lingering injury has finally gotten the best of him. That should make the battle with Elkins quite interesting. We see Elkins coming out ahead by the slimmest of margins. With a strong day, Fairmont Senior could climb all the way up to the second spot. We see Jefferson rounding out the top five. 1. Cabell Midland 50 2. Elkins 107 3. Parkersburg South 108 4. Fairmont Senior 131 5. Jefferson 147 6. Nitro 175 7. Parkersburg 176 8. Preston 181 9. University 185 10. Woodrow Wilson 204 11. Ripley 268 12. George Washington 291 Predicted Boys AAA Top 25 We're looking at Cabell Midland taking the top three overall spots. Eric Cooper and Jon Nelson have swapped the top spot in the individual rankings several times throughout the season. Cooper appears to have the edge on flatter courses. Greg Cooke was outstanding at the regional meet and could unseat both for the title. Steve Johnson has held the third spot in the rankings for most of the season. However, one of his worst showings came at the Chick-fil-A Invitational. Andy Franklin is a bit of a wild card. Jefferson didn't run any of the major in-state meets, so comparisons are a bit difficult. Joseph White is rounding back into form after missing a couple weeks in the middle of the season and could figure into the mix. We're tabbing Tim Andrew, Chad Hooten, Bryan Talerico, and Jake Green for the remaining All-State spots.
