INVITATION TO
THE
14th ANNUAL TIMES INVITATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY MEET
The Times
Invitational Cross-Country meet will be held October 6, 2001 at Apple Valley
Golf Course in Fairmont, WV. Last year
we had 20 teams participating in the combined AA and AAA meet. This year we are looking forward to another
exciting meet and would like to invite your team to participate!
The meet is
sponsored by the TIMES-WEST VIRGINIAN and Fairmont Senior Cross-Country
Teams. The meet is WVSSAC sanctioned
and under the guidelines of the National Federation of Track & Field and
Cross-Country rules for boys and girls-2001.
Results will be computed by Dave Ricer and copies will be distributed
during the awards ceremony.
AWARDS Trophies will be awarded to the Team Champion and Runner-up in
both boy’s and girl’s varsity races.
The first 15 individuals in each varsity race will also receive
awards. There will be no awards in the
J-V races. Refreshments will be
provided for race participants.
COURSE The course is
approximately 5000m consisting of some hills and is mostly grassy. It is on a golf course. There is about a 25m cart path that is
paved. The Varsity and J-V races will
be ran separately in both boy’s and girl’s competition. Boy’s and Girl’s J-V is a combined race.
ENTRY FEE The entry fee for the
race is $25.00 per team or $50.00 for both boy’s and girl’s teams. An admission charge of $2.00 will be applied
for anyone not transporting a team of five or more in one vehicle, in
uniforms. All WVSSAC passes will be honored. Only Fairmont Senior High School Courtesy
passes will be honored.
OPEN RACE Prior to the Junior
High races, there will be on Open Race for anyone that is not a member of the
high school teams. Enclosed is
information concerning this race. Please
distribute a copy to anyone you feel may be interested. The more the merrier!
RESERVATION If
you are interested in participating in the meet this year, please fill out and
return the enclosed form by September 7 or e-mail your response to Coach Terry Ash

Enclosed is an entry form for the race.
It will be due Friday, September 28, 2001. Please do contact and let us know if your team is coming or not
so our Boosters can make comfortable arrangements.

THE SIXTH ANNUAL
POLAR BEAR CLASSIC

Apple Valley Golf

TIME: Eight O’clock in the morning!
Register from 7:15 – 7:50
The
POLAR BEAR CLASSIC is a cross-country race open to all ages and sexes. Everyone competes against everyone! No divisions!
The
race is a 5km, grassy cross-country course ran on the APPLE VALLEY GOLF COURSE
in Fairmont, WV. It will be ran prior
to the 14TH ANNUAL TIMES INVITATIONAL CROSS-COUNTRY MEET. Anyone can participate except those in the
High School or Jr. High School races.
The
first three finishers of the race will win a T-shirt. The entry fee is $5.00 per competitor. All proceeds will benefit the FSHS Boy’s and Girl’s Cross-Country
Teams.
You
will be the first to lay tracks on the course!
You will have the opportunity to chase the wildlife before the crowd
scares them away. You can experience
the solitude of the early morning outdoors doing your favorite activity,
Running.
Coaches. Run the race and experience the thrills that
await your team!
