     please allow me to extend a big elkins invitation for your varsity boys, girls and Jr. Varsity teams to our 5th annual “hornet’s x-c invitational. 

     Our invitational this year will be held in conjunction with the Mt. State forest festival meet this year.  The reason I am trying my invitational at this time is to encourage a few more teams to attend.  My teams have participated in both the autumn classic and the St. mary’s invitationals where they have both h.s. and middle school meets.  I do not see any reason why we should not be able to return the favor.  Again, your team(s) will be treated with great respect.

 

     These start times will be “ON” time!!

     Girls Varsity----------------------------- 8:30a.m.

 

     Boys Varsity----------------------------- 8:55 a.m.

 

     Jr. Varsity Boys & Girls--------------- 9:20 a.m.

 

     Awards ceremony----------------------- 10:30 a.m.

       ( In the pavilion at the top of parking lot )

 

     next year’s invitational will be later.  Coach Burda and I will try and set this up on a rotating basis.

 

     Our course will be part of the high school course.  I have not measured its length yet, but it will be somewhere between 1.7 to 1.8 miles in length.  The runners will climb the same hill twice, once in the beginning and towards the finish of the race.  The rest of the course will be flat to rolling and yes, this includes the two creeks they will have to cross.

     I hope to see you and your young runners participate this year.  If they have not yet run on this course, they are sure to love it.  Good luck this year and I hope to see you September 29.

2001 CROSS-COUNTRY SEASON

ELKINS MIDDLE SCHOOL ( HOST SCHOOL )

 

     All student/athlete’s will be recognized for their efforts this year.  Each runner that participates and finishes our Invitational will be given a finishers ribbon.  This will be for all races.

    

     The following awards will be as follows:

***1st, 2nd & 3rd place team trophies for Boys & Girls Varsity teams…

***Individual team trophies for 1st place Boys & Girls teams…

***Individual team medals for 2nd & 3rd place Boys & Girls teams…

***Individual awards to the Top 20 Boys & Girls Varsity runners…

***Individual awards to the Top 15 Boys & Girls Jr. Varsity runners…

 

 

 

 

ENTRY FEE

 

     Please make all entry fees payable to “ Elkins Middle School Cross-Country”.   Coaches, you may choose two methods of getting me your entry fee,  #1. Mail to; Coach Todd Price, 213 Hickory Drive, Elkins, WV 26241, or # 2. Hand deliver your entry fee when you arrive.  Do not worry, I will not get nasty if you forget.  Your team can still run.  We are doing this for our young athlete’s.

 

____ For ( 2 ) Varsity Teams – Boys & Girls $$$$$  25.00

____  For ( 1 ) Varsity Team --- Boys ( or ) Girls - $$$$ 20.00

 

____ For any incomplete teams, --- Boys or Girls -- $$$ 2.00 per runner

 

**Jr. Varsity runners, ( No charge ), bring as many as you can.

***Special Note*** If any school would like to run a Varsity A & B team, you are more than welcome.  I know I have did this in the past as long as they have noticeably different uniforms.

 

     Please coaches, I am hoping this Invitational will work the way I have set up.  Again, I am willing to rotate times from year to year.  If you have any thoughts or suggestions PLEASE let me know.
