We've been sitting on this for a while now, due to the fact that a representative from the WVSSAC indicated that this was not to be public knowledge. However, we've since seen it this information divulged in a few places, one of the Charleston Newspapers and the Coaches' Message Board to name two of them. Since the information has become public, we it was safe to place it here.
With the reclassification of several schools for the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 school years came the need for Sectional and Regional realignments in most sports. Among these was, of course, cross country.
While this proposal has not yet fully passed and is not official, it is worthy of note because of the somewhat sweeping changes made to the regional alignment. Enough with the delays...here are the proposed regions for next year's cross country season.

Byrd Region III Capital, George Washington, Greenbrier East, Nicholas, Riverside, South Charleston, Woodrow Wilson Region IV Cabell Midland, Huntington, Hurricane, Nitro, Parkersburg, Parkersburg South, Ripley, Spring Valley, St. Albans A-AA ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Region I Bishop Donahue, Cameron, Madonna, Magnolia, Oak Glen, Ritchie, St. Marys, Tyler Consolidated, Weir, Wheeling Central, Williamstown Region II Berkeley Springs, Bridgeport, Doddridge, East Hardy, Frankfort, Grafton, Keyser, Notre Dame, Pendleton, Philip Barbour Region III Bluefield, Fayetteville, Greenbrier West, Independence, Liberty Raleigh, Mercer Christian, Midland Trail, Montcalm, Oak Hill, PikeView, Richwood, Shady Spring, Webster Region IV Braxton, Buffalo, Calhoun, Charleston Catholic, Clay, Gilmer, Ravenswood, Roane, Scott, Sissonville, Winfield
You may have noticed that there are now only four regions. So many of you may be trekking to some new territory in your regional meets next year.
As was stated above, this alignment is not yet official, and could even be changed after it becomes "official" as there is a small number of schools that may not reopen next fall and could result in further reclassification and/or realignment.
