THE WOOD COUNTY INVITATIONAL
September 23, 2000

On behalf of Williamstown High School, Parkersburg High School, and
Parkersburg South High School, we are extending an invitation for your
school to be a part of the 3rd annual Wood County Invitational (formerly,
the Little Run Farm Invitational) on September 23rd, 2000.  The new meet
site is the West Virginia Interstate Fairgrounds on Butcher Bend Road in
Parkersburg, WV  (See directions and details on back).

NEW FOR 2000
This year's meet, for the first time ever, will include a college race.
Join West Virginia University, Virginia Tech University, Marshall
University, Eastern Kentucky University, Akron University, Kent State
University, Concord College, West Virginia Wesleyan College, Wheeling
Jesuit College, Ohio Valley College, and others in our inaugural college
race.  There will be a men's and women's college race, with the top
twenty-five individuals receiving awards in each race.  TEAMS WILL BE
DIVIDED INTO RESPECTIVE DIVISIONS, WITH AWARDS GIVEN IN EACH DIVISION FOR
THE TOP THREE OVERALL TEAM WINNERS.  There will be an entry fee of $60 per
team or a maximum of $110 per school.

The course is run entirely on grass and is a combination of gently rolling
terrain and flat areas, which should provide for very good times.  The
Junior High races will be 3,000 meters, and the high school races will be
5,000 meters.  The college men's race will be 8 kilometers, and the women's
race will be 5 kilometers.  Spectators will be able to view almost the
entire race from the start-finish area.  There will be a small admission
fee for spectators.  Change facilities and restrooms will be on site at the
fairgrounds.  Shower facilities will be available nearby.  There will be a
large area for school tents and parking for at least 5,000 cars.  In the
event of inclement weather, various buildings are available for cover for
participants as well as spectators.  Exclusive Wood County Invitational
T-shirts will be on sale on site.  Hot and cold concessions will be
available.  The awards' ceremony will be on site, next to the start/finish
area.

Entry fees for our meet are $25 per High School Varsity Team, $20 per
Junior Varsity Team and $10 per Junior High Team.  There is a $5 per runner
fee for all other individuals.  There will be a $75 per school maximum fee
regardless of the number of teams entered.  Please make checks payable to:
The Wood County Invitational and mail to On the Run, 3207 Emerson Avenue,
Parkersburg, WV 26104.  The deadline for entry applications and fees is
SEPTEMBER 15, 2000.  No entries after the deadline and no refunds.

NOTICE:  Any school whose entry fee has not been received by the day of the
race will not be allowed to participate.  "Checks in the mail" do not
constitute received payment.
